This video is a quick overview of my current setup with the Playseat Evolution. The main goal of this project was to reduce flex and make the rig more solid. I think it was a success. Let me know what you think!

Thanks so much for this video @IsaacBayer I'm follow this for my Playseat Evo setup - it's very helpful. I've built the frame and it's actually much better even just sitting on it loosely. Going to finish bolting it down tonight after doing some carpet like yours. I can tell there is going to be no movement once it's bolted on the main feet - that's where most of the movement comes from Thanks once again!
@IsaacBayer7 ай бұрын
Cool, thanks for the feedback. It's not a bad rig once it's bolted down!
@56-ish7 ай бұрын
@@IsaacBayer Absolutely! I've nearly finished now - everything is bolted nicely and seating position is perfect. I've bolted some brackets to the wheel mount to give my wheel more height and some angle (it's weird with a Fanatec DD because the base is flat, not angled) Just need to carpet it up and I'm also adding 2 handles on the frame to make it easier to move Thanks again for your video and the inspiration. I was nearly going to spend $1500 on a full 8020 cockpit rig, but with ~$100 and stuff I had lying around, it's near perfect. Much better than it comes out of the box, barely any movement or flex now.

Excellent idea. I just replicated it for my Flight Sim setup. Did you try the buttkicker with the rubber isolators? You'd need to bolt through the isolators to set everything in place and I wonder if that defeats the purpose.

Hey Isaac, wicked video. Lots off good ideas, put into practice. What are the dimensions on the base you built? Looking at engineering this myself. Do you think adding locking castors for moveability is an okay idea? Do you feel there would be movement under breaking/steering, since now the flexibility is transferred to the castor locks?
@IsaacBayer3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching. The base is 2 feet by 4 feet. I think locking casters would work fine as long as they are bigger ones. Could also put the wheels into furniture leg cups.
@intenseorange3 жыл бұрын
@@IsaacBayer - final question, did you end up securing the playseat frame directly to the plywood? Or did you secure them to the frame joists below?
@oktc683 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you use the table mount threaded hole for a third hard mount? I've had a go on one fixed like that and it was rock solid. My own TX seems solid on just two mounts however. Maybe manufacturing tolerances? Looks very good tho', you've certainly made the Playseat Evolution more stable than any I've come across. Excellent 👍🏻 Try a 10 kgs load cell, (SimRacingSolutions) I think you'd like that, I use a 20kgs one which can be a little heavy ( altho' you can adjust it in game).
@IsaacBayer3 жыл бұрын
The mounting plate covers that hole. I have since I posted this video drilled it out and used it. Very solid now.

Hi, great setup! One question about the wood. What is the thickness of the main structure (where the seat and the cockpit is located?) Thank you!

The frame is made out of 2x4. Basically a rectangle. Then a sheet of 1/2 inch plywood on top of that.

Just uploaded a vid of mine, I’ve added a table leg for added wheel support 👍

Nice setup. How do you like the seat mover in vr? I've been thinking of getting one.
@charzy113 жыл бұрын
@@IsaacBayer It’s awesome once set up mate; but prob more work than you think. I’d say that your setup is already an optimum alternative . Unfortunately The buttkicker Doesn’t fit with the platform installed, which is why I’ve got the shake cushion. You’d also have to get the PlaySeat slider , and slide the seat forward to get the balance right, which would then mean you’d be closer to your wheel and probably need to move your shifter and hand brake.
@MrChutney3 жыл бұрын
Great setup. Looking to replicate myself. How tall are you? I'm 183cm / 6ft, and not sure the base you have made would be long enough for me (Playseat not arrived yet so can't measure!)
@IsaacBayer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I am 5 feet 9 inches tall. I think the base would be fine, you would just need to extend the pedals a bit more than me. Set it up so its how you want it first before bolting it down to anything :)
@ShaneTabaka2 жыл бұрын
For the actual seat, did you add any extra foam to the lower back section? I found that my Evolution is extremely uncomfortable after 20-30 minutes of use.
@IsaacBayer2 жыл бұрын
I actually added a layer of this heavy duty bubble wrap. It had like large 1 inch Square bubbles. I'm sure foam would also work. The bubble wrap has worked good for me though.

I want to build a platform for my playseat but I have multiple people who use it so it needs to be adjusted from time to time. Can you still adjust the distance of the seat and pedals in this configuration?
@IsaacBayer3 жыл бұрын
You might be able to add some adjustability to it by not bolting down the center section. You could also get adjustable slider kit for the seat.

Love your setup. I have the thrust master kit. And play seat i cant get the play seat and pedals to work nice i find the wheel stand is in the way any tips?
@IsaacBayer3 жыл бұрын
At first I couldn't get a good position either. Steering wheel was too low, or too close to me. If I moved the center bar forward I could raise the wheel higher, but then my ankles would hit the bar. I added a piece of 1/2 inch wood under the wheel to raise it up. After that it was much better. The bar in the middle can't be to close to your pedals or your ankles will hit it. Raising the wheel up also let's you move the center bar back. This will be different for everyone I'm sure. I am about 5 foot 9, and it's perfect for me.
@geralltthomas3 жыл бұрын
Big thanks for replying! My main issue is banging my knee on the thrustmaster mount is there another mounting option buddy? U make perfect sence ive been through all that the wheel is at the right height just the mount is sticking out to much underneath the wheel holder so im banging my knee on the cheap plastic mount heart braking lol.

Do you have a problem with the brake pressing the brake because of the post of the actual rig?
@IsaacBayer2 жыл бұрын
As long as the post is not all the way forward it's fine. If the post is to far forward then your ankles will hit it. Needs to be back a little like how I have it. Then it's ok.
@chrisandryracing2 жыл бұрын
Did you have flex between the wheel height adjuster. Mine moves left and right because the extendable post doesn’t sit flush. Any ideas onto what to do?
@IsaacBayer2 жыл бұрын
You could swap out the knob for a bolt and then tighten the bolt down with a wrench you might be able to get it a little tighter that way.

@@IsaacBayer I ended up putting a rubber band in as a seal for all the posts and tightened the knobs up really well. I reckon if i replace the knobs with screws it’d be even better

How do you find the buttkicker? I have a very simular setup I found that although the vibration was good coming from the buttkicker I found the bass to be anoying and kind of takes me out of the game. Still deciding if I should sell it or not
@IsaacBayer4 жыл бұрын
To take full advantage of it you need to set it up using a separate sound card, then you can use simhub (free) or sim racing studio (free trial) to set up each game. The software takes actual data from the game, processes it and sends it to the sound card, and then to your amp. If you are just using the Y cable then you will just get a muttled mess from the bass audio in the game.
@djhandzhandz80764 жыл бұрын
@@IsaacBayer thanks for the reply.. yes I have it wired to a separate card and I have chosen the desired effects through sim hub. I have it setup as you say. It's just the sound it makes I find distracting and it pulls me out of the sim.
@IsaacBayer4 жыл бұрын
@@djhandzhandz8076 simhub kinda drive me crazy because there are so many adjustments. Check out www.simracingstudio.com/product-page/srs-license I found this software alot easier to use, and the effects seem cleaner. Read their recommended amp settings as well. I find that less is more too, you want some vibration and feedback, but if the levels are to high it starts feeling unnatural.

Just to add a note of reality. When I had a test with Roush in 1986 in a Capri Trans Am car, I just had to deal with how the cockpit was set up. The wheel felt too close and the pedals too far away, and I felt like the seat was too high. IRL this is just some shit you have to deal with in a race car.
