I know it looks & feels bad that you knocked your balls over the desk. The 1 thing for anyone to take note off is' You moved the mains cable out of the way 1st 👍 Yet another winning, fixed and saved from the electronic scrap yard heaven. Not all can be but.. your doing a dam good job at making the list short.

I had mine completely quit and even the button came out but if you use a flashlight you can see the little metal part and just have to kind of carefully press it with a small metal screwdriver or something like that

Hey Shaun here from Console Service Centre in South Africa. Take a look at the solder balls on the South Bridge chip, when we import ours, we remove the ones on there. They seem to be smaller than 0.5, and they lead free too. See if you can see if the ones you get are also balled with smaller solder balls too?

I generally don't have an issue with the ones I buy, so I just leave the ones that are included on them , but thanks for the tip :)

Hey! How can you diagnose if it's the southbridge chip? My ps4 won't cut on or beep at all. I checked and the power supply is making 12V. I disassembled and looked for blown chips or burnt spots but couldn't find anything visually. Is there continuity checks that can be made? I'm considering trying this repair.

I don't personally fix PS3s, sorry. The cost of repair is always higher than the cost of a replacement :(

Connecting the DS4 controller to a ps4 when shut off won't charge the controller LOL it has to be first put into rest mode/standby. That step was useless.

Supply power to usb ports can be enabled in software, that step isn't useless if that is enabled. If enabled and the controller receives power, the southbridge isn't dead

@@TheCod3r yeah it's enabled in software but when the ps4 is on rest mode. Not when completely shut off. So it is useless cos if it's enabled and NOT in rest mode then it won't work
