Buy covers now, and refund when they don't fit. Simple. On PS Direct you have ~30 days from arrival to return for a full refund, no questions asked, so just make sure when you buy them that they won't deliver more than 25 days before the PS5 Pro launches, to be on the safe side. As soon as your PS5 Pro gets in, test them, and if no fit, initiate a full refund request with PS Direct. Lucky for me I guess, the ones I want are the new Chroma Teal that release on January 25th (my birthday) so we should definitely know by then whether or not the Slim plates will fit, and I won't need to worry about it. Realistically though, we can all wait until the console is out and just order them a day or two after...not like they won't be available, and no big deal if you use your PS5 Pro for a couple days with the stock plates before swapping. Guess it'd only be mildly inconvenient for someone who is putting the PS5 Pro in a hard to access place, but how many people do that.

2:56 I got a RX 7900XT a couple of years ago as my first gaming pc. At first it was great. Things looked amazing at 4k. Sometimes 60fps was hard to get to and needed back scaling. Sometimes 60fps just wouldnt happen no matter what I did. But after almost 2 years it started to mess up, freeze and crash on some demanding games. Namely Ghost of Tsushima and MK1. Even MK1 on the lowest possible settings it started to crash but like Mad Max at 4k 60fps still runs like a dream. Thing is on consoles, Ghost runs perfect and looks perfect at 4k 60fps. MK1 on S/X runs and looks perfect too at 4k, 60fps gameplay and 30fps cinematics. And on there I see frames I never saw before because it had choppy issues on PC when transitioning from Intro/Fatality to Gameplay. There are no such issues on console. My friend who helped me build it told me, after selling me on 4k 60fps gameplay, after 2 years that I shouldn't have been running it that high. I probably burned it out in some ways(though I wasnt always on ultra, sometimes high to medium with a couple of settings on ultra like detail). But when your setup costs $2,300 you'd expect that you could play it harder than a $500 S/X. Apparently not the case. I still have my pc but I use it sparingly now and get demanding games on console.

@@brianscallions433 ikr! My friend was a great salesman but when I decided to get the the S/X I started to realize how I had made a mistake with the PC. He had had me convinced it was gonna look like trash by comparison. But he's stuck in his pc ways and would never admit to how far consoles have come. Consoles are just easy, there's no wrestling. If I want 60fps theres a mode. Some games on pc, like God of War 2018 just NEVER went to 60fps. Some games would go to it and then the next time I played it'd be back, locked at 30fps. And then 60fps the next time. Pc is just a confusing hassle. I too cannot wait for November 7th!

That doesn’t make sense with the plates, because when you buy the disk drive, it comes with plates. So if those plates work on the Pro, then so should the rest of the plates from the slim

One of the best features of the Xbox 360 was the built-in scaler, called Ana. It was a mid-range hardware scaler that was better than the one in most TVs at the time. It could output any game at 1080p with zero effort on the developer's part and no impact on the GPU. In those early days, the results were incredible and contributed to the console's success. PSSR is the Ana of this generation.

You are a little bit behind with the info: Acording to Mystic and the Amazon image from SIE on their website the plates of slim DO NOT FIT into the pro even by looking at them they look more or less the same. Maybe it has to do with the placement of clips or maybe there is a slight difference in shape

The language in the PlayStation text seems to infer the slim plates will not be compatible with the PS5 Pro. The pictures make them look identical, but it’s possible the angles and curvature are different. Also, after selling separate disc drives and stands, what’s to stop them from capitalizing on separate covers, too? The last question, perhaps, is the inevitable answer.

It definitely looks like they could have designed it in a way where plates would be compatible between slim and pro. If they didn't, that makes absolutely no sense. We'll have plates for launch digital, plates for launch disc, plates for slim, and plates for pro all be different. It already appears the new colors they just released are only for the slim, and not the launch PS5

I know for a fact that the disc drive and the plates that comes with it fit both the slim and the pro..I called Playstation support and spoke to an actual person in the hardware department and they told me yes..the disc drive and it's cover that are currently sold for the slim fit the pro aswell..and that's all they know at this time because the machine is too new and they don't have all the information on it yet..

The part you mention PC res. iirc thats the monitor they have, 60% have 1080p monitors so if they use DLSS/FSR the internal res is 7020p or lower

If the disc drive is the same... The cover for the disc drive is the same for pro and slim. There isn't any specific on the packaging of the disc drive wich comes with the cover. And if one cover fits both consoles, than all will fit. It is a 99% sure thing.

In my mind from some photo research and side by side comparison i did the plates are the exact same..i have been saying it since the reveal of the pro with the mark cerney presentation and also the cnet video ..and i will continue to believe in my mind they are the same untill proven otherwise..the only difference in the manufacture of the console is the height which the 3 fins are part of the chassis filling in the big gap that would be left between the plates..people are looking way to hard into this and causing alot of turmoil and unneeded and unwanted stress..

Yes I have a slim however I'm not paying $700 for a Pro! I just decided to get a steam deck OLED introduction to PC gaming and I can just play remotely my Xbox PS5 slim on the steam deck. Already spent$200 on the PS5 Dual pro controller and $200 on Playstation Portal plus games so😂 PlayStation is taking the piss. Cheers

Just FYI to everyone, the panels, yes all four, are the exact same dimensions between the two. The pro is taller only from the vents, which i guarantee will not come off with the top panels, and it's thicker. However, the width is exactly the same and all panels match for size pretty much identical.
