I know 343 wanted to seperate themselves from Bungie but dang they messed up the story immersion with that art change and coming up with half baked reasons didn't help when cutscenes like that said otherwise.

Remember they changed up the art first then later down the lane had to come up with reasons that would try to satisfy the people that were looking into those cutscenes and realizing things weren't syncing up properly. Didn't they also use nano machines as an example for Chief's armor as well? Halo 5 was the epitome of where these half baked reasons finally hit the fan, they changed the ARBITER to this supposed Elite subspecies out of nowhere. All they were doing was changing the art around the board. Subspecies was a complete afterthought. It was just a mess and something they should've explained straight out of the gate. They would've made a lot less people mad that way. I do have to say I'm satisfied with the subspecies reason as of Halo Wars 2. I like how they separate them into different ranks and squads such as grunts vs suicide grunts. At least in that way it can keep the people who like the design of both happy. I hope they continue that trend in Infinite otherwise I would rather they go back to the classic artstyle all together.

@@derdox6720 Also, that was the marketing team, not 343 themselves. businesses have different groups making content for games and movies, and that's how game trailers and movie trailers can ruin it for their given media. When the marketing teams don't communicate with the developers and just put out what they think will make people interested. The "Hunt the Truth" ad campaign was a disasterous mistake, but if you ignore those, then the rest of the actual series doesn't perform nearly as badly without that terrible expectation of a huge Locke/Chief showdown. That's why we don't see anything like that again with Halo Infinite's game trailers.

This is incorrect. The Spartans of Red Team in Halo Wars are actually some of the Spartan II's who died during augmentations. Their bodies were put in cryo immediately following death and were later able to be revived and successfully augmented. Omega team, Black Team, and Jorge (from Nobel Team) were likewise Spartans who "died" during the first set of augmentations

What makes this even more an emphasis of his character and his very psyche. During "The Fall of Reach" the book that was written, John endures many loses at the beginning of the Human Covenant war. Failures at leading different fight teams and also his own Blue team. At the end of it all He is picked up by the Pillar of Autumn as it escapes Reach. With this, any and all information was either destroyed or lost to space. During the events of Halo CE it's Assumed that Chief is the last Spartan II Alive through the conflict. Having lost everyone can do a number on you. But being who he is, he would not let his failure come between him and finishing what they started. His connection with Cortana (CTN 0452-9) through the war further eases him back from the self inflicted loathing and depression. At his very core he was broken, which is made mention later on in the series around Halo 4-5. For Blue team, Sam will always bring them together, as they continue "Make it count"

It was only at around Cortana's death, and the question she poised to him about being a machine, that he finally began to break through that shell.

Lasky was talking to him he said something along the lines of "Soldiers are not machines" That caught John's attention because he snapped his head over to look at him almost like a surprised gesture I think it's, more of a theory, that he has been like that for so long he forgot he what it was like being human, or something like that, because Sam died when they were 14, and all the other deaths since, now he's 48 (chronologically), THATS quite a long time of coming out of armor only when he's ordered or he thinks he should, even then it's not long, barely talking, barely if not ever smiling. Man I'm Halo fan since I was 6 years old, I'm 24 today (Played the first Halo CE but didn't understood the game 'cause my age, until Halo 2 came out). It's really great to see people from different games generes and platforms loving Halo, that's an usual thing to see if you are a Halo fan from years. There is some recommendations that I have if you like to take: • Make the Halo gameplays longer (50 mins would be cool instead of 30 mins), it's cool to see your reaction to the entire cinematics but I would like to see more of your gameplay too (I watch your Twitch streams too and watch the whole gameplay btw) • You should play Halo CE and Halo 2 in remastered graphics. Sure, it will be cool to watch how the Halo graphics are getting evolved since the first Halo but I think that your reaction would be a lot better if you play the remastered versions, the remastered versions of Halo CE and Halo 2 have an option to swap the graphics instantly with just pressing a button, I bet your reactions of how you compare the graphics will be awesome. Also YOU HAVE to play Halo 2 remastered version, that's best way to play it... Just search some cinematics of Halo 2 remastered and instantly you will know why I recommend this to you that much. • Finish all Halo games before June, Halo Infinite biggest reveal will be at the E3 and I'm sure your reaction will be better if you have all the context of the whole story and also... you will not getting spoiled too. • BUY A XBOX, the Halo MCC games will take longer than you think in the PC version, maybe the last game of Halo MCC (Halo 4) will be up until July if you're lucky and you will have to buy a Xbox anyways because Halo 5 will not be realize in PC, at least 343 Industries don't have plans to do it this year. • PLAY MULTIPLAYER, Halo is one of the best games not only beacause the story, Halo is great because to the multiplayer too, since the first Halo came out. I guess you were indoctrinated in the Spartan Program at the age of 6 too and didn't understand what it meant until years later. Halo CE was launched when I was in middle school and I have a military family, joined immediately after High School in the Marine Corps. This is odd because I never got the whole ignorant then learn the true meaning afterwards. I already knew due to my age when I picked up Halo and due to my background my disgust for the newer ones...here's to hoping they do a full 360 with infinite. Also hated how Bungie did research about the Marine Corps at Halo 2 and kept that knowledge but as soon as 343 took over they went back to Halo CE levels of ignorant. The whole "sir, yes sir," "sarge," or "we are soldiers." None of this is what any Marine says or does. Much of it is unprofessional and a insult if said a certain way.

Also it doesn't make sense in this sense that everyone is gong by their first name expect john who they just call chief. and only the chief has his helmet on cause the viewers need to see how young the others are without showing johns face. 5:48 (retconed however wildly accepted now) while in basic Cryo, your not suppose to wear any clothing while frozen cause anything you wear will free and stick to your skin. but not all of us want to see naked people >_> 6:29 (retcon) in the book, Dr Halsey displayed her intelligence by (in short) being smarter than the A.I. 10:19 (the biggest retcon IMO) John not only predict which side the coin will land on BUT HE GRABBED THE COIN OUT OF THE AIR and predicted which side would face up. "it was a wonderful way to show that he wasn't just lucky but that he made is own luck." - Halo Cannon 13:00 (retcon) each kid had a handler... cause they were 6 year olds. 15:06 (...) look i'm not even going to attempt to explain the mess that is "figuring out how many kids died before becoming Spartans". this only adds to the mess. (on a positive note) the wilderness mission was a great, no big flaws to speak of. 24:20 John never cared about rank. his comment is out of character. end of story. 24:43 (on another positive note) this sense was excellently done. very effective and right to the point. 27:46 (...) again. it's a mess. 31:57 (positive note) this scene does a great job showing off john's enhancements after augmentation. 33:05 (The Worst Retcon) Originally, the odst's were ordered to attack john and john would defend himself without trying to kill the ODSTs. Unfortunately, john would take them down each in a single unknowingly lethal punch. this however. john tries to kill them. like WTF why?! 41:09 - 41:18 (Positive Retcon) this line wasn't in the original material but holds a lot of weight to those who know the line. a good attrition. 47:38 (rectcon/nitpick) the covenant ship they faced was originally 1/3 their ships size... however you would already know how scary covenant ships are so no harm in the change. 54:38 (retcon) the suits are a mix between the halo wars and 343 designs... but the helmets are.... questionable. and that's all i can say. 56:42 jet-packs... jet-packs were an add-on like a backpack. NOT part of the suit. it creates many plot holes if they had jet-packs the whole time. and i saved the biggest problem for last. the title. 'The Fall of Reach." yes, this story is based off the book "Fall of Reach" expect that book (and comic) told the story of how the planet reach fell along with the Spartan 2s. We didn't even get to see that battle of reach is this. Still i'm glad you enjoyed it. i hope soon after this geek can quickly watched Halo Cannon's '"The Battle of Reach - Complete Timeline'" as reading the comic/book might cause confusion since "halo reach the game" conflicts with the story. Luckily Halo Cannon had tried his best to sort out the mess."

I was hyped for this initially, until I realized that the show doesn't even touch upon the second half of the book. You know, it's FUCKING NAME SAKE. I would highly recommend reading the original book. It's fairly short by current standards, but covers far more than the series adaptation does. Sam's death was the halfway point of the book, with the rest covering the actual Fall of Reach, and all the way up until just before Halo CE starts. The only good thing I liked about the series was the retconning of Jorge into the Spartan-II program (as his character didn't exist all the way back in 2001). I didn't like how they used Halo 4-5 models for the Covenant as it sorta broke with continuity, nor the fact that they used helmets for Blue Team that shouldn't have existed this early in MJOLNIR's lifespan. That being said, the book is far better, and still one of the best Halo novels out there. First Strike (which covers how Chief got back to Earth between Halo CE and Halo 2), and Ghosts of Onyx (which takes place during Halo 2 and early Halo 3) are among my favourites as well, and if you like Blue Team, you'll certainly love Ghosts of Onyx.

Hey Dee Bee, in the scene where the ODST pick a fight with John an interesting difference to the novel it was based on is that it's explicitly stated by Halsey that she put the ODST soldiers up to it and on top of that John kills each man with a single punch. I think what's really interesting for me is that this difference sells John as the kid that didn't want to hurt his fellow soldiers but was manipulated by Halsey to do so rather than a psychopath who keeps beating a man in the face while he is down or is about to impale a fallen man. Just food for thought. I'm not trying to start a fight guys just was my main gripe with the adaptation.

The Film does some scenes different from the book such as the fight with the ODST'S. in the book they fight in the boxing ring and Chief literally kills two of them, one with a single punch that stops his heart. Also fun fact there were no bodies in the coffins, the bodies were used to improve the augmentations and increases survivability

Welcome to the Halo family man Its all amazing except for halo 5. It's straight disrespect to the entire halo franchise. About 99.9% of all halo fans absolutely hated it (just talking about the campaign here). We gave 343 such a backlash that they straightened their act up for halo infinite it seems, so that's good. Since you're new to the franchise and don't know, when 343 took over they decided to start changing everything they could to their own style just because. Sure change is good in a franchise (and I embrace it), but simply changing as much as you can just for the sake of changing it isn't good for a franchise.

As much as I love the movie, in the OG canon, they all had the exact same armor, and helmets, the armor they're wearing (despite being helpful to tell them apart) didn't exist yet, and as of now, only the art here says otherwise. Also this is clearly before they had energy shields, as it says in the movie i think, that's why it burned completely through Sam's armor. Edit: it was also a beam rifle, not a measly plasma pistol that gotted him.

This is my first time seeing the visual adaption to the book, so thank you for that. I'm surprised they left a lot of things out regarding the ending, but hey the book is like 15 years old, so times change. Once you are done playing through the games, check out the books if reading is your thing. There are tons of things in the books, that are awesome and add to the overall lore of Halo. Fun Fact, Mona Lisa was actually in a collection of short stories before being made into a "movie. I love seeing peoples reactions to Halo, and loving it, so keep it going. You are now one of us

The reason why Chief rarely speaks is because most UNSC soldiers are very hostile towards Spartans. Not to mention he has also seen most of his friends die in some form or another and as a Spartan, he just detaches himself instead of dealing with it. Spartans really only associate with other Spartans.

I....always pictured Mendez' voice to be far more like the sergeants from the second Alien movie. I found it a shame that it wasn't made clear that the armors they were given to start off with were the non-shield Mark IV's and i actually don't remember them being different in design, they couldn't afford it at that stage as far as i am aware. For the sake of the movie i understand why they left it out but a shame they didn't show the after augmentation training scene from the book in the bunker going up against the mjolnir Mark I-III variants.

The augmentation process started when they were 8 years old ended when they were 14. That's 6 years of being a lab rat , tortured with medical procedures that left 36% dead and another 15% permanently disabled. Leaving only 41 of the original 76 children able to complete training.

What upsets me is that all this time master chief is like a god among people but he wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for noble team therefore almost (if not all) all HALO games would have even existed if Noble team hadn’t done what they did, and what upsets me even more is that all the Spartans deaths in halo reach either shouldn’t have happened (Kat and that BULLSHIT about the needle rifle her shield had time to recharge and we all know that a needle rifle can’t do hit about a headshot on a shielded elite) didn’t happen (Jun) or simply could have been avoided (carter jumped out and landed before pelican crashed) (Jorge just let a marine do it) (and six again just let a marine or ODST squad that was there do it) LIKE COME ON IT PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH
