They’re more interested in games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, FIFA, etc. Although I personally prefer games like Ratchet and Clank, the truth is they don’t sell as well. PlayStation is a business at the end of the day and are going to make the games that make them the most money. If you want more games akin to the ones that came out in the past, more people have to start supporting and buying those types of games. It seems that after the PS2 era, game publishers took notice of what games were selling the most and instructed the game devs to develop these games that were a guaranteed money maker and it ended up giving us an era that didn't have as much variety as the previous 2 eras and it continued on into the PS4 and now the PS5 era I mean sure we did get some variety but not in the quantity that we got prior. I have a switch, and I was considering getting either a ps5 or building a pc, but once the closure of Japan's game studio was announced, the decision was inevitable. My main problem with the exclusive lineup is very similar to your problem, the games are trying to be big and if your too big, you try to be everything. But I don't want a big game that does everything fine, I want three games that do a few things in a great way.

@@hsizzle4502 not as good as it looks on the surface, console exclusives are treated as console sellers, sony and microsoft used to put down big money for some of their biggest exclusives and are more concerned with developing the best possible experience rather than recouping the cost since the idea is people will buy the console for this game and more console sales means more game sales overall. many of the best games ever made are console exclusives for this reason. porting these games over to pc looks good on paper since more people now have access, but in the long term it means there's less incentive to buy the consoles for them, and by extension, less incentive for sony to make the biggest and best game you can to push console sales, especially if they own the rights to the game and are making profit from the pc sales as well. it also means that more games are designed around making them pc friendly which can limit creativity, theres a reason nintendo keeps making weird new hardware like the wiimote or the labo stuff, and the reason is because they can and dont have to worry about how to translate those peripherals onto a PC port

Sonys first party line up is one tone. They are mainly heavily naughty dog inspired. I don't rate sony personally they have nothing for anyone that doesn't like 3rd person story games. PS4 has very much turned them into a very un consumer friendly company. They are throwing away the good will they have. They also have the issue that most of their big AAA games are horrendously overrated like God of war was. Both these new consoles arent great because of the lack of games. The xbox is better this gen solely because of game pass. Also the acti/bliz thing is showing why Sony are a joke. They have no variety because they chose that they have nothing to in some way replace a call of duty. Where as you look at xbox if they lost anything they have the variety in their first party line up to cover the gaps in some way. Sony don't thus Sony cry and look incredibly pathetic. The big issue is Sony have been very heavily made out to look like the good guy of gaming the last few years and there has always been heavy bias in favor of them the last 10 or so years. You can never really criticise them any where as people jump on you even for valid reasons.

When Japan Studio shut down, along Jim Ryan's takeover as CEO in the Playstation brand ; I lost interest in the PS5 and the brand itself. PS1 & PS2 eras are my favorite eras because of the variety of interesting, unique titles. PS3 had a rocky start - though managed to make a comeback by focusing on fun, quality games. While not as "robust" as what many people say about PS3, I thought I enjoyed it more than 360 on its 1st party exclusives, imports. PS4 also has a lot of interesting titles and its even region free - which is a plus. However, the PS4 is the last console I'll own from Sony. I do hope Jim Ryan gets fired and hires someone similar like Jack Tretton, Shawn Layden ; who not only cares about releasing fun, interesting games - who also cares about the Playstation community - to everyone . The answer is Sony also has to go live service, has to have a streaming service, needs to put games on PC, etc. And the big AAA games Sony been putting out? They're to compete with similarly American focused Microsoft exclusives. Look at the lineup from Microsoft, there's no experimentation at all, almost never has, it's AAA shooters and racers, and now they added Western RPGs to the mix, that's it. After what they did to GR3 and the studio, and then the TV show news. I just flat out hope they go under in a swarm of horrible allegations and lawsuits. I LOVE GR and every 3rd party former exclusive getting that former description makes me smile. I would have gotten a 5 JUST for GR3 but now I actively discourage people in my life who are thinking about it especially with PC getting some of the games. I’ve literally helped people get PS2s and old local network multiplayer games, but will tell them too just avoid the modern stuff when asked about what’s good in gaming rn.

I think what’s really sad is both companies not even trying to make their own exclusive original IPs anymore it’s just become buying studios that have made successful franchises and feeding off the success that already exists. They can’t even be bothered to make their own anymore. Buying companies that have games that already exist just to fill their pockets more.

Amazing video. Sitting here with my PS4 without any sense of urgency to buy a PS5. Will wait for cheaper parts to build a PC later on. Still many games to play on the PS4

Sony is not great this Gen. My biggest issue is the increase of price of games and there is not a lot of them exclusives. Price are higher on this platform than anwhere else. And there is no excuse for that. It's the first time that at 2 years in a life of a console games are still avaible on old gen. So they have no cost of transitioning to a new gen, there are proposing almost no games that use the full potential of there platform and they increase the prices. Bull shit !

Right! $70 for GOW when it’s the same content as PS4 but it runs better. This is the slowest start to a console generation I’ve seen

If Nintendo is the one that cares the most about their legacy and they don't do that much effort this days. Imagine everyone else...

Nintendo is the Disney of videogames, it's crystal clear after they move they pulled with the Mario 3D collection, removing it from the store just to create scarcity. Their games are still top notch, heck, generational and genre defining, and I'm a sucker for platform games, but their business practices are extremely anti-consumer, though they've always been to be honest. Nintendo is the chick that was super hot in her prime, has aged like fine wine, and still treats you like garbage in an abusive relationship. Sony is the chick that was even hotter in her prime than Nintendo in her prime, then she got fat (PS3 launch), then got slim again (later years PS3), blooming once more (PS4 launch), then sharply declined and is trying to still look good with tons of make-up (soulless tech-demo 3rd person cinematic games). Microsoft is the chick that's hot, bot not hot, still good reliable as a booty call.

Nintendo does NOT give a Frick about their customers if they did they would NOT be forcing a monthly sub just to play older retro games that you could buy and download individually, if anything they see their customers as numbers
