I think many can relate that we searched for this since we first have seen first nokia smartphones and playstation one aesthetics, in early 2000s, and been looking since for this wholesome-chill-on the verge of something fast, swirling, streaming, exciting to start happening. And suddenly this aesthetic starts reappearing in our lives, by the miracle of algorithm, but it only chooses 1 percent (who had a hunch to stumble upon it first)

70s had their own style 80s had their own style 90s had their own style even the 2000s had their own style but since then, we just keep reminiscing... this is the era of nostalgia. a generation with access to all the history, yet no soul of their own. we just feed on the memories of past generations. we are the ultimate consumers.
@LonelyKnightess6 ай бұрын
Why do you think the last two decades didn't have style? We are living in a renaissance of independent music and genre exploration, hence this video.
@yehorboiaryntsev71236 ай бұрын
@@LonelyKnightess so real on this one. We don't have "mainstream" no more, fame is far more democratic and one can find gems in every aesthetic they choose to follow. We don't have any more worldstars that everyone knows abt while other grind in the shadows, we've got so much more to explore, and art became more abt artist's experience that one relate/not relate to, depending on their path. The whole doom n gloom abt capitalism devouring everything is true, but damn that doesn't mean there's only shadow

@@yehorboiaryntsev7123 "We don't have "mainstream" no more" biggest bs ive ever read today
@yehorboiaryntsev71232 ай бұрын
@rzt430 My wording was incorrect. What I implied is that mainstream becomes far less of a major influence as everything gets niched down by socials. There's still mainstream music that the majority of people listens too/aware of, like Taylor Swift, but most of modern superstars are in their 40s and made their careers way before socials were a huge thing. We're gonna be seeing a decline of big names, given the social media structure won't become more centralised (like extreme censorship).
@rzt4302 ай бұрын
@@yehorboiaryntsev7123 social media is by all means more centralised now. echo chambers are everywhere and herd mentality is stronger than ever(look at how polarized politics are for instance, or even identity politics which shouldn't even be a thing, these things extend to music as well unfortunately). it's just that the main consumers aren't us anymore. if you aren't into taylor swift or tommy richman or kpop or whatever you are still very much out of the loop. dnb is also very much not representative of y2k for most people as well. stuff you hear from jet set radio, newgrounds, etc were very much niche music. mainstreamed listed to stuff like jason mraz, black eyed peas, lady gaga and such(rip my ears back then). it was a niche genre and still is. things didn't really change in the way you outlined they did

@demisemissb4 ай бұрын
I'm a CD collector myself, just because I always have been and it's remained convenient for my lifestyle. i.e. listening in the car, liner notes are compact, HQ burning/sharing from source, etc. I think Vinyl and CD would be the two hottest ways to listen to this. Ditto if you did physicals of The Songs From The Disc One or any of these, really. Vinyl would give it a warmth that would really make these tracks wash the whole room with the right table/speakers and acoustic spaces. But CD has that convenience; and it fulfills the aesthetic of what these songs achieve and represent sonically.
