7/10. Great games, Ghost of Tsushima looks beautiful, The Last of Us II delivers the shivers, finally a Resident Evil 2 remake, Death Stranding and all... BUT the conference was a mess. Terrible way to announce everything. You can be better, Sony.

Isn't anyone bothered by the fact that three of the four big titles don't even have release dates yet? I agree they look great and Ghost of Tsushima might be the reason I'll get a PS4 someday (because I'm a huge weeb and the Kublai Khan invasions of Japan are super interesting to me personally), but... I very much doubt any of them will come out before 2020. Which sucks quite a bit of hype out of this conference for me.

I wouldn't go that high. 5/10 for me 6/10 at best. Games were fantastic, don't get me wrong. But they(like John Madden) gave no new information about the ones we already knew about. With only an hour for the entire press conference, it should have been a heavy trailer based. If they had the time like Microsoft had for their press conference it would have been a little more forgiving. I know that they will be saving everything for their own press conference(which I probably won't watch in December). Coming out of it, they only really showed 3 new games. Compared to Microsofts.... 15 or 16? They could have shown clips during the time they were transitioning everyone to the second theatre, instead we were forced to sit through an extremely boring panel.
@yoloalchemist
@yoloalchemist 6 жыл бұрын
Negative Ives For that, I’ll go ahead on a limb and actually blame Microsoft itself. They most likely dished out a ton of cash for the sake of getting as many 3rd party premieres as possible, leaving Sony with as few as possible. What this leaves the both of them is almost a tie, with Sony having a slight edge thanks to their more compelling exclusives.
@MasonOfLife
@MasonOfLife 6 жыл бұрын
To be honest it was a bit lacking for me... I’d give 6/10 The pacing of the event was terrible, weird talking segments, weird musical sections, and sure like 4 really good games but there wasn’t a lot there.
@ivenstorm
@ivenstorm 6 жыл бұрын
And I get that, but in the course of... 40 minutes they showed us.... 2 new games? They can't even be bothered to have good stage presence anymore. They would rather spend tens of thousands of dollars on mock up tents, maybe even a hundred thousand dollars on outside tents instead of just renting out the main stage at the Anaheim convention centre for an hour which certainly would have cost much less. I remember 3 years ago when they were kicking ass at their conferences. Microsoft couldn't even touch them. I don't know what the hell happened between then and now but its like they aren't even trying anymore. I looked forward to segments like Kevin Butler showing up, Gabe Newell from Valve showing up, and yes, even the weird Just Dance segments. I think the order was screwed up as well.... they should have had all these extra conferences after the Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony press conferences. Not right in the middle. That's what ruins it. Having Microsoft at say 2pm EST and Sony at 7EST on Sunday would have given both of them a chance to thrive, and gave Sony more to work with. With all the extra conferences going on, it diluted what remained for Sony.

This is the only way I can watch E3 since 2016. Thanks for the great reactions again guys. Love your knowledge and passion. Sony didn't quite nail the presentation like they did in 2016 but the content was still out of this world.

The 4 games they showed off all looked fantastic. Just when you think God of War looks mind blowing, your eyes get treated to what we witnessed during this conference. Wanted to see RE2 remake and got it, plus a date. It looked way better than I thought it would. The only thing missing for me is seeing what Bluepoint is up to in terms of their next big remake. I guess Sony is saving that for later this year. 8/10. Not their best conference ever, but still solid.

I agree with at least a 9. The big 4 exclusive games were all 10s, and they were shown with lengthy gameplay demos - the way that Kyle loves them to be shown so we have an idea of what to expect from the final product. Control, RE2, and Nioh 2 are going to be great. I asked myself if I care about the intermission and I really don't - not after those games and trailers rapid fire back to back. It just helped to build my anticipation.

1:24:12 "I'm starting to think being insanely boring between demos was intentional. It heightened my enjoyment of this." That's some legit psycho-strategy right there if it was true. Probably not, though. 1:51:09 Ask and you shall receive. Not only is it an ultimate, though, but it's also called "Web Blossom", which seems to be a reference to the Death Blossom, the omnidirectional special attack in The Last Starfighter. It shows the age of the team.

I'm seeing a lot people saying things like "No release dates, so I need proof that these games are going to release. I don't trust it.", and while I support people having their own opinions and mindsets, I really don't understand where it's coming from. Horizon, God of War, Detroit, Nier, Bloodborne, practically every major Sony game in recent years was teased a full two to three years before release, and they all came out and were great. Like yes, there are outliers like KH3 and FFVII that took/will take a long time to get to us, but for the most part, Sony has delivered in Spades on their promises. Where is all this apathy and negativity coming from? After a triforce of Sony E3 of Dreams conferences, why do so many people sound bitter and wronged? I'm so confused by it. I guess it's just difference of personal expectations or something, but good lord. I get that we're used to being guarded, that we've been burned by studios countless times, but for the last five years, Sony hasn't wronged us at all. We get Spiderman soon, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts 3, RE2, Days Gone, what more do you want? Is it the fact that things are so *good* right now, people don't know how to act? so they just find small reasons to complain because we're so used to it? I understand making sure to critique for the sake of it, but man, it feels like the big 4 could have all shadow dropped tonight and people would still find things to complain about. Maybe it's how entitled we've all become, and how quickly we look for "the next big thing". I noticed it going back through the coverage of older E3s from recent years; "This game is going to be one of the greats." "My hype is through the roof." "I'm going to be playing this game for months when it comes out", and then none of those games were talked about mere *weeks* after they came out, because we were already frothing at the mouth with hype for the next new games. It seems like we've become addicted to hype, and it's tainting our love for the games themselves. Maybe I'm just old and grumpy, I don't know. I'll enjoy my games no matter what, it's just sad to see so much negativity and indifference brought into the most magical time of the year. Also, this comment is inherently hypocritical because I'm complaining about complaining, and addressing negativity with passive aggressive negativity. I'm sorry, guys. I'm tired as hell and hungry. (also, the From Software VR game is allegedly slated for this year)

A huge part of the gaming media scene, especially here on youtube, is cynical about gaming. I think its all an aftermath of the angry nerds success. Look how many ppl his success spawned, who simply copied his formula and started shit talking on games. It had a larger impact on how we talk about games now. Add fanboyism to the mix and there goes all the sincerity. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of experiments and trends in the Industry that needs to be called out, but some ppl desperately grasping on straws just to have something cynical and negative to say. I saw what sony tried in the beginning and I didn't mind, it would just have been better if they wouldn't used the showcase talkshow format for the transition and instead just fired some more trailers inbetween. These talk panels are just bad for pacing. They don't talk about anything substantial, and it takes you out of the moment, because they were taped outside the event I wanted to watch. In total, I really liked this conference. Ppl should ask themselves what they expect a first party studio to deliver. Lots of third party trailers to cover up the lack of exclusives, or actually quiet a fair share of new exclusive titles who looked all promising.

luapchalos yeah, the fact people try to forget what they have, and tend to be greedy. They keep saying no release dates, and forgot SONY already delivered God of War and Detroit last two months this year. The show was a mess, but content is really good. And Seems SONY not liking revealing release date on E3 recent years, but months before actual release.

But the games and their gameplay revealed was great. “control” and “RE2 remake” were great surprises. This conference was so much better than 2017’s presser and that didn’t even have an intermission. 8.9 or 9 out of 10 the beginning was such a wrong choice and was pretty silly but after it was over and I saw all of the games I didn’t care. this shows why you need to own a PlayStation in 2018 Microsoft had a way better conference but these games are at another level. For the first E3 ever I really don’t give a crap who “Won” E3 because that was clearly us who won Microsoft,Ubisoft,PlayStation were all amazing! A odd thing I noticed during the Last of Us 2 gameplay was that the female enemies all looked alike ? They all had the same crown braid and facial features. Is the game still in early development due to not many enemy characters created ?

Here’s the thing. The point of E3 is the spectacle and for that I appreciate what Sony TRIED to do, but the execution was a bit off. If E3 was just a shotgun of trailers like what Microsoft did, then there is no point in E3 existing. There is no reason to have thousands of people in one room if all you’re gonna do is show trailers. People don’t go to the movie theater for the trailers, they go for the movie. They go for the show itself. And Sony at least tried to make a show out of its conference. It’s why Nintendo stopped going to E3, because they felt that if they’re just gonna show trailers, might as well just prerecord the thing and have it once a month or so.

The switching stage location idea for the show may be impressive to the live audience but the idea interrupts the momentum on the flow of showing the products to millions of customers around the world watching online. The point of using a video service is to display not to describe the products to the customers. Wasting the time in talking is wasting the bandwidth of the visual media.

Who is the voice behind every Gametrailers review? I'm guessing it's Huber but I might be wrong. Gametrailers review had always been my number one choice for game review for it's depth and mostly bcuz the voice is pleasing. Eventhough they now gone independent, I'll always be faithful to them because of their review.

Sony has lost their minds, the presentation was just horrible. The games however all look amazing and the RE2 surprise is probably the best part of E3 for me. Personally I’d say MS did better than Sony this year just because they were all around a better event despite not having the amazing exclusives. Of the big three I’d put Nintendo last, Smash looks great and I’ll be there day one but they didn’t really bring it this year at all.

Tizzy13 tossup between RE2, DMC5, BGE2, and CP2077...I think CP takes it though, good GOD, I've wanted a full fledged BladeRunner esque game since the 90s (when I first saw the original)

CP2077 sounds interesting but I'm not really excited for it, maybe if they had shown gameplay it would be higher up for me. Never played a DMC game but that 5 trailer was really impressive, it got me instantly interested in the franchise. I don't know if 5 will be a good jumping on point but I'm curious to see more of it. RedVIII From the press release.. "Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-poundingly immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game. "
@The_RedVIII
@The_RedVIII 6 жыл бұрын
I don't see how that says "fixed camera". Gameplay modes of the original game can mean pretty much anything but the least likely is fixed camera. I rather think this means things like New Game Plus and additional costumes for the characters (that were in the original) or even just that you can play as Claire and Leon. We will wait and see, but this is in no way a confirmation of fixed camera angles.

The show was awful but the content was phenomenal. 8/10 for me If they hadn't done their dumb thing at the intro, this would've been the easiest 10/10 ever. But they just had to make the first 40 minutes awkward
@Cyrribrae
@Cyrribrae 6 жыл бұрын
Does it ever concern us that in a 1 hour presentation we can make "the first 40 minutes awkward" and still give the conference 8/10? I feel like some of (all of, except Nintendo) the other showings don't get that same luxury? People complain about 5 minutes of Just Dance or a 2 minute car thing on Xbox and it's suddenly the worst thing ever. iono, it's not a big deal obviously. Just.. stark.

Spiderman - The Emissary From Hell I think they showed why owning a Xbox is a good investment with all the third party games (even a surprising amount of Japanese representation which they are usually bad at). Besides that, their pacing was almost perfect and they delievered on all first party fronts (although most of them seem to be 2019 games). They gave a sneak peak into the future with way more games presented than Sony did. And the games Sony did choose to focus on looked awesome but might not even come out before 2020. That's too far our if you ask me. That on top of the horrible presentation elements put them under Microsoft and Ubisoft. I think both Microsoft and Ubisoft did a great job this with their shows and I can accept that despite personally being more interested in Sony's future line up. Not saying Sony isn't in the top three this year, but I think saying they had the best of the presentations would be dellusional to me.
@alexanderchilton911
@alexanderchilton911 6 жыл бұрын
Spiderman - The Emissary From Hell I have never owned a Xbox system. But if I only had the basic PS4 (I have a pro) I would probably invest in a Xbox One X for the best versions of all the third party games. I personally don't see a reason to do that now, but I can see it being a great investment from other's perspective. Also, just because YOU own a PS4/PS4pro/powerful PC doesn't mean everybody does. Just bevausr YOU can afford every exclusive doesn't mean everybody does (they may prefer Gamepass for that reason). Just because YOU don't care about Xbox' first party line up doesn't mean others aren't excited. Taking personal bias aside, Microsoft had the best showing.
