Playstation Platinums ...of Regret (the rush to 100 platinums)

My platinums are varied and different - you'll find all sorts across the 200+ I have earned over the last decade. A nice mix of ultra rares, AAA, indie and easy to earn platinums
But there was a time when I was pushing 100.. and the mad trophy rush influenced me to play games I would'nt normally consider

I had a really shitty day, but your video made me smile and helped me relax. I enjoy listening to other trophy hunters. Especially, when they talk about serious topics/real stories. I am glad, that I had this idea of «Road to 100». The plan was to play only games, that mean something to me or that I am 100% interested in. So, from 90 - 100, I earned Platinums, I am proud of and that have a story behind it. But of course, I have Platinums in my collection, that remind me of stupid behaviour regarding easy Platinums. Platinums, that I only got to boost numbers. So, I relate to your story. I think, these «lowlight» experience make us better at our hobby. Thank you for sharing your story. I enjoyed the video. Not your suffering, but the shared pain and the honesty. In my opinion, this is an important video for new trophy hunters. I hope, many trophy hunters will watch this video. Great message, Mode. Your excellent video got me thinking alot about the plats I regret, so i wanted to put my own thoughts into something and share my little 100 plats story I'm sorry you had a bad day mate, glad this cheered you up though! I think my 200 plats came about alot more naturally lol

It's crazy how we have all been there with getting Platinums that we aren't super proud of to make the number go up. Love your use of giant dad. Some of these games look terrible but it seems like you learned some good lessons from the experience.

Giant dad ftw! Yeah you know it man. TBH, albedo is quite amusing, its just the grpahics are really really bad, and its janky asf. I only bought it for the plat, so its a shame. Orc slayer must be condemned to death. Sound shapes is a fun lil game, but again, only bought for the triple plat. maidenless behavior

I think we’ve all been there man. Whether it’s these trash shovelware games, or auto pops, or cheesing games with exploits, dev console etc. I think most trophy hunters have felt the pull to pad their list with some effortless trophies at one point or another. But just like you, I’ve found that popping trophies purely for trophies sake is a hollow and empty endeavour and there’s no personal pride or satisfaction in doing so. It feels so much better to earn trophies in a game you actually enjoy and are truly interested in playing.

You hit the nail on the head man! An empty endeavor with no personal pride or satisfaction. Perfect way to describe the shovelwares, autopops and exploiting tbh. Well said mate I've enjoyed plats so ridiculously easy, but because I found them genuinely enjoyable. Much better than buying a plat because I read it was easy

Oof that orc slayer footage looks rough. I would love a dedicated video on that. I've certainly played a few games for platinums that I now regret, but I do think it's helped me appreciate the games I do go for the plats for more. Loved the video and good to see a balance as well as your ultra rare vids

Orc slayer has no redeeming qualities. I compare the rare game I don't enjoy to it everytime, and tell myself at least it's betetr than Orc slayer. I will one day do a very deep dive into it 😞 a very painful platinum

Great video! I remember the game Orc Slaver and Eyes from outer space. After those I swore I would not buy a rubbish game ever again for an easy platinum. Shame on Sound Shapes they shut down the cross-save function I think in 2019 so you would have to do those DLC stacks three times legit now without auto-pop...

Yeah he was super chill - Gave me confidence that a voice like his could talk about games and be entertaining/popular. A masive shame! Sure hes doing all gd though. I still watch his videos every now and again

I got fond memories of Orc Slayer. Its trash, but fun. Just one of those oddities we do as trophy hunters. Like Hannah Montana. Garbage, but iconic.

I guess I'm lucky that most of my early trophy hunting history was just playing games I enjoyed. By the time I got interested in trophy hunting, I already had a long list of incomplete games so I just focused on those. As a result, I developed a mindset where I wasn't playing games for their trophies, trophies were just an extension of experiencing a game. Even still now, I have more than enough games releasing and currently in my backlog, much less the occasional impulse purchase to catch up on something I missed out on, going for games I have no interest in is barely on my mind. Though I think one of the biggest triggers to stop caring is, funnily, to finish games that don't have platinums. Those 100% non-plat lists or, in my case of being a semi-completionist, no trophies at all. That way, you are just enjoying the process.

You redeem yourself with Sound Shapes by doing the dlc some of those levels are not easy to do and you’ll have to do it three times which will be rough :( I have faith you’ve done much harder games !

Yes the path to redemption is clear. 18 pounds buying 3 separate dlc packs for the 3 versions, then tackling the plethora of dlc levels. Might make a good video 😆. I'm a fan of difficult plats (I play fighting games for some reason)

You're not wrong, even with exploits it' somewhat difficult. That's the problem for me though, using an exploit to achieve the normally difficult challenge . 😅 i probably would of got it at some point, but I had to rush! It didn't make me feel great 😪
