I thought it was just me. I was struggling to clear basic bosses in Lies of P on the Portal, which is a Souls game that requires quick reaction times from both the player and the hardware. Latency needs to be improved a bit.

It’s definitely noticeable there due to how precise you need to be. I’d stick to Moments, or any single player mode there and avoid online MP if you’re climbing ranked. If you’re just casually playing it you can adjust to the timing, but it will throw you off when you go back to the console.

The deal breakers would be no ability to stream movies from even playstation core or netflix...games have some lag...seems acceptable for my skill level as well. I'm not a pro dad player but the steam deck more than suits my itch...plus its basically a desktop running linux.

It’s the Playstation Portable. No you cannot install games onto this device. You will need a PS5 to use it.

It got an update to stream games directly from the net so you don't need a ps5 anymore, you'd need a premium PS+ subscription and good internet tho.

Well we found the target demographic for this. The dad that has the money to own more than 1 PS5, only owns PS5's (for some reason, and $200 to drop on a dedicated accessory because he only wants to play his PS5's games (and absolutely nothing else) in another room or in very specific circumstances outside of his house. Best of luck to Sony I guess... As the not target demographic I'd rather just buy a Steam Deck and play PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo games, watch a movie, KZbin, or whatever else on it.

…It’s a Wii U gamepad. That’s all this is, and it doesn’t even give a direct connection to the PS5 itself but uses your WiFi to play games remotely. If we can’t even take the Portal on the go and leave the PS5 at home, what’s the point?

As someone who also owns a steam deck, I think it simply comes down to who this made for. Steam deck is far more expensive than the Portal and while it can play it's own games, if you own a ps5 and not a gaming computer the portal could be a better fit. It just depends on circumstance imo - C.J.
