This was a GARBAGE PlayStation Showcase. It was a Third Party Showcase. There was practically no first party! 95% of the games shown at this event are coming to Xbox. What a horrible presentation. 3/10 overall. What a disaster. Glad MBG didn’t try to do damage control for Sony. You earned my respect for not simping for Sony, MBG!

Even though a large portion of the PlayStation audience couldn’t care less about live service game so they’re clearly making a shift. Don’t act like this is common practice. I think the problem was, a 2 year gap sets expectations for you. When you're Sony and have such a high bar to live up to, and you've kept people waiting for so long, showing up with a whole lot of nothing (in terms of first party games) except for one game we all know well at this point (Spiderman), is just not going to satisfy people. No matter how low they tried to set expectations, people would still have wanted more than this from their studios. I mean at bare minimum everyone thought Factions was a sure thing.

The show was a bit underwhelming to be honest, was hoping for a bit more, especially from the first party side of things. There were some solid third party and indie announcement that got me pretty excited. But a very mixed show overall. The show gets a 6/10 for me. I really hope they show The last of us multiplayer game in the summer game show. I need to see that game.

Honestly as an Xbox fan. I don’t think you want them doing what Xbox does and show you a game 4years out. Like fable and perfect dark. then the other 2year games like starfield was and so on. Because now you have to wait and wait and wait to actually play these games and there is only so much teasers they can do before the game is ready to lunch. @@theoutlawking9123 What's called a fumble is what the clowns at Microsoft/Xbox have been doing for well over a decade. This PS showcase is the result of Sony/Playstation feeling no pressure from Microsoft/Xbox whatsoever, knowing they've comfortably won yet another generation in console gaming and therefore don't feel the need to go all out to assert their dominance. The PS5 is selling like hot cakes and will continue to do so because the Xbox Series has nothing to offer that could make Sony sweat long term, not even Starfield. This showcase was very poor. I'm disappointed in Jim Ryan and overall leadership at Playstation. But on the other hand I can't even really blame 'em, they are on top and won't be overtaken anytime soon. Definitely not this generation, and this generation will take another 5 years at least. The only thing that could've made this showcase better (besides Jim Ryan and leadership at Sony being arrogant weirdos, of course) is if the ABK deal was completed, Playstation decided to delay this showcase and make it better to balance out the major boost of positivity Xbox would've gained out of acquiring AB. But alas, Microsoft hasn't acquired AB and Sony could take it easy. This is what little to no competition does, in every walk of life. Whether sports, or in this case, business.

Yeah, this is exactly what I've been saying about Xbox for a few years. They made all those acquisitions starting 2018, but it was always going to take longer than most people expected to come to fruition. 6 years minimum. I guess we'll see in a few weeks how close they are now. As for PlayStation, it's pretty clear that they shot their load over the past few years, and most of their studios are now somewhere between early and mid development on their titles. It's going to be a quiet year or two for them now.

I really do not understand such disappointment on your part. As a gamer, they showed some really interesting games: Helldrivers 2. Phantom Blade 0. The Talos Principle 2 (i know it was cgi but it looked amazing). The Plucky Squire (looks fun imo, not all games should be real life graphics). Towers of Aghasba. Final Fantasy XVI. Alan Wake 2. Assassins Creed Mirage. Metal Gear Solod Collection. Spiderman 2. The problem more than the showcase, is really you. Instead of enjoying the show and a good set of games, all you were looking for were console exclusives and then go around insulting and fueling the despicable console war, all over the internet. I can't otherwise justify your extreme disappointment and criticism to Sony.

Imagine Xbox's showcase? Yeah, I imagine they'll have alot more to show. Sony shot their load the past few years and are now mostly in early to mid development at most of their studios. It'll be a quiet year or two, but they'll come back swinging, but not for another year or two. Xbox have just been through that quiet period, while they ramp up their new acquisitions since 2018 with the longer development times that games now take.

I am not going to lie, i was disappointed by it. Where was all the Sony first party titles? Team Asobi? Bluepoint Games? Sucker Punch? Sony Bend? We only have just one brand new first party reveal with Haven Studios new game, alongside deep dive gameplay of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which is nice. Other than that. NOTHING. Fair play for raking Sony over the coals for all those CGI teasers. Xbox got alot of shit for doing it in 2020, so it's at least reassuring to see it not get ignored here. On the one hand I'd say it was even worse here, because all the CGI trailers were for PvP extraction shooters, so there wasnt even any variety. Though, I'll also say the same thing in Sonys defense that i said about Xbox. CGI teasers? Theyre not for the fans. They're for hiring staff. Think that CGI Fable teaser a few years ago, that studio is known for racing games, so if youre them, and trying to expand your team for an RPG, you need to get awareness out. Similar story for Xboxs other CGI trailers in 2020 (SoD3, Avowed, Perfect Dark, Everwild). They didnt have gameplaply to show, because those games were still early then, and its the exact situation we find Sony in now. Their big established studios have shot their proverbial loads over the past few years, some at the end of the PS4, some at the Start of PS5, with GoW:R, and Spiderman 2, but it'll be longer than we expect until we hear from them again, as dev cycles are so long now. Then, you have these new acquisitions, Haven and Firewalk, but much like Xboxs acquisitions, its going to take a while for them to ramp up and start delivering, and to do that they need staff, and to attract those, they need people to know what theyre making. TL:DR, when you have nothing to show, because you're still making it, CGI trailers are to help you get there, not to build hype.

It was cool Haven and Firewalk got reveals but those reveals told us nothing. No last of it s multiplayer which at the very least I thought was a lock to show up here . After Spider Man I’m not really sure what to expect . There’s no big single player game that’s even revealed as far as I kvow . It obviously 3rd party looks great there’s no doubt about it but as far a first party id concerned I don’t think it’s crazy to say 2024 could be really light . Not complaining, I’m just calling it like I see it

CGI trailers, no gameplay as MBG they opened up with a CGI that's not sony it would have been gameplay with something! There is something a miss!! It's just MGS snake eater remake, Alan wake 2, and mainly spider 2 for me. I said this cuz MGS doesn't have a release date and I have never played it before. Also with Alan wake, I haven't played it before, but for some reason the second game is pretty interesting for me. I'll have to try out Alan wake first I guess. Then with spiderman 2, I hope it's better than the first game at least, cuz what I saw was off for me. Maybe it was because people over-hyped it like the graphics were really really good. It didn't quite amaze me like seeing the 2021 trailer. I'll have to look at the video again, but in 4k. I kind of was expecting a preorder date, console plates, or controller, but maybe it'll show more closely near release like August I guess. Another thing was I expected more first party games, spiderman 2 was something we already knew about and it was a bonus, not what the main event should have been. Other first party games with it, would have increased the hype before they showed spiderman. Jim Ryan almost scared me when he said "that's our showcase" or whatever. It definitely would have been bad if he didn't show 1 first party game. Overall showcase was a grade C for me, could have been better after waiting like 2 yrs. Update: Spiderman 2 looks better when watching it on a 4k tv. I just hope its an improvement and as good or even better than the other spiderman games

I watched some of MBGs live stream of the show while working and had to finish the rest later and watched the PlayStation stream no commentary. And I will say, though not a perfect show, MBGs negative energy really did make the show seem worse than it was. Wish there was more 1st party content, but they showed over 30 games in an hour.

Everyone had too much hype on this show. Homestly go back to 2021 showcase. Announced games KOTR, Spiderman 2, and Wolverine. God of war gameplay. So 2023 showcase was FairGames, Concord, Helldivers 2(spoiled earlier in the year), Marathon, and Phantom Blade Zero. Spiderman game play. It looks comparable to me.
