I think they can't go fully with trophies since there are a lot of games with easy platinums (their own fault), so it's going to be challenge based where they will tell you which trophies to go for. What sucks is they don't give you coins for all campaigns but collectibles.

Every level requires to purchase at least 1 game for who knows how much, so that's basically paying for the rewards and the "priority" perk in customer service. What a joke.

It works as other loyalty programs which i think tipically give back anywhere around 3-5% back so yeah you pay for your rewards. The problem for Stars is the focus on the digital collectibles, like having collectibles or chat routing be a benefit of upgrading a level. Some programs offer like a 1% bonus on top of the basic reward percentage.

I thought this was going to be a really cool thing where you get trophies, get stars and redeem em, but they just give you points for spending hell lots of money. its Kinda like those nintendo switch points.

Yeah, MyNintendo rewards is the best comparison. They can't go fully with trophies for points because they allowed the system to get messy, and people will try to cheat with easy plats for easy points. Still there are ways they can do it, asking to earn specific trophies or complete challenges but they need to give points instead of those collectibles as it works currently.

It seems Sony just wants rich new customers. I guess screw all the years long loyal customers right? Ive put alot of $ into PS and only buy digital and I find this ridiculous. So disappointed. Edit: decided to cancel the program, I genuinely don't understand who it is for.

At least xbox has a reward program For just logging in and playing any game. You then get free KZbin red and hulu and Disney plus. This is weak sony.

This is so dumb, that it sounds like a scam. It would of been better getting the original trophies from game's you play, and then end up getting reward points from them that goes towards the PSN store.

It seems there are several countries that don't have the service despite Sony announcing it for the region. I can't find anything about them adding more countries since the service launched last year but considering they want to add it on consoles at some point they should be expanding support before/around that time.

No, previous trophies and purchases don't count. It only starts counting after you subscribe to Stars

Yes, you get points for purchasing on the store as long as you are a PS Plus member, regardless of the funding source.

Yes, but only if you are a PS Plus member. I got 100 points for the God of War Origins collection on PS3 for example. However the service still has issues and I've seen comments of people that haven't received points or the system takes some time to register points/actions/rewards.

They said you'd be able to access your PS Stars profile on PS5 but nothing since then. Maybe in March since there are rumors of a PS5 firmware update. For now you can earn coins from PS5 game purchases if you are PS Plus.

You can redeem points for PSN credit as many times as you want, they don't become unavailable

I recommend you look at the campaigns if you want to get extra points, for example Astro Bot has a quest for 150 coins extra for purchase. There's also September monthly picks that give you 50 coins for either Black Myth Wukong, Star Wars Outlaws, Visions of Mana, Pepper Grinder and other games.

Child accounts can be upgraded in account management if you are over 18 but otherwise they lock a lot of online stuff. Maybe they should have done like a child account has to be approved by an adult account under a family group instead of locking them out completely.

I think its a good idea but their whole focus on collectibles messes up the system. I agree with your point on the levels, having only more collectibles and chat routing as benefits for upgrading is not good. They could have gone with 1% increase on points, priority access to purchasing new hardware or accessories.
