There's a quest in Horizon Zero Dawn where you need to kill a snapjaw, which is hunting in a pilgrim site. I spent roughly ten minutes setting up traps, laying down explosive wires, and preparing bombs. Then tried to lure the snapjaw into them... only to discover snapjaws can JUMP. He leapt over all my traps and started chasing me all over the place... only to aggro two more snapjaws. It all devolved into a Benny Hill chase...with explosives.

Skyrim story: a buddy and I were playing early on after the game released. We had good ol' Sven following us into our first giant's camp. When the giant rushed us for invading his territory, he clubbed Sven first, who then seemed to have disappeared. We quickly scurried away, wondering what actually happened to Sven. You'll remember on the PS3 version (and maybe others) when you would get clubbed by a giant, the physics would glitch and you'd ricochet off the ground high into the air. This was unknown to us at the time. Well, as we were running along the road away from the giant, Sven's lifeless body fell from the sky and crashed into the road several steps in front of us. Ensue greater panic. We continued to run for in-game miles, not knowing the giant broke off pursuit shortly after we escaped his camp. RIP Sven

I recently made the plan to play all the old turn based rpg's when I'm retired and too old for the fast stuff. The doesn't make my pile of shame smaller though. It's still 90+ games. But as a collector I don't really mind. I will play them. Someday. I hope 😅

Shadow of War: Going after a high level legendary Orc that is immune to most things and had killed me a few times so was a waaaay higher level. I sneak into the base, start picking off his men and BOOM.. ambushed by another orc. So I begin fighting him and BOOM my bodyguard betrays me because the one attacking me turns out to be his blood brother. Meanwhile someone else has set off the alarm so now I'm being swarmed, the legendary orc comes over and joins in... THEN I shot an arrow and hit a ghul nest by accident so now I have hundreds of those swarming me... THEN THE LEGENDARY ORCS BLOOD BROTHER JOINS IN, manages to down me and just so happened to have the NO CHANCE ability and took me out without me having a chance to retaliate. Then the bloody orc got promoted to overlord

The worst time a plan ever went horribly wrong was in a playthrough of XCOM. I named my troops after people in my life this time round and hadn't lost anyone yet. My troops (consisting of myself, my two brothers, and my cousin) were the best I had and the mission should have been easy. We split into two groups of two. One brother was a sniper and the other was a shotgunner, so I stuck them together to watch over each other. I was an lmg user and my cousin was a medic. I sent my cousin to a seemingly safe wall to flank an enemy. It should've been safe. It wasn't. Out of nowhere, the wall exploded from the other side and aliens came in and murdered him. That caused my sniper brother to freak and shoot a shot which not only hit my shotgun brother but was a critical and killed him. All of a sudden, I had two casualties and a ton of aliens to deal with. With no chance otherwise, I had to abandon my mission and pull out, leaving the bodies where they lie. It still haunts me to this day.

My most vivid gaming plan gone awry: I recently got the Kingdom Hearts collection and started a playthrough of the first, on proud mode because I've been playing the series for a decade or more and I figured I'd be able to manage it. I didn't think much about the opening choices, just went with the rod and midnight, which have always been my preferred pair. For those without intimate knowledge of the series, I've just decided to do hard mode, with a focus on magic--which you don't get for the first two worlds--and slow initial leveling. Essentially, I've piled all the delayed gratification options on top of each other. This worked fine for Destiny Islands. I got through that boss without any trouble, and landed in Traverse Town. Underleveled. Alone. Without magic. Soldiers were taking me out regularly. I was levels and levels away from either scan or guard, didn't have dodge roll yet. The Guard Armor fight was a full-on insurmountable disaster the first eight times or so I tried it. It got a little better after I had Donald and Goofy, but Wonderland still killed me more times than I can count. I didn't really recover from the mistake until after I finally got Cure.

I was playing HITMAN Season 1, in Hokkaido, and I was trying to sneakily kill this lady by disguising myself as a chef, feeding her unprofessionally prepared Fugu fish, and leaving before anyone could tell it was me. Everything was going to plan, I had to knock out far more people than I expected, but I was doing well, and I hid in her favourite sushi bar, and placed the Fugu fish on the bar - and somebody else ate it. I had to run and hide, and as soon as I was hidden, the lady I was trying to kill walked in, as everyone nearby was yelling 'WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN?!' In a panic, I threw a knife into her skull and ran away, squealing in terror. At least I killed her I suppose.

Things go wrong when I try to play stealthy. I always try to do that. Even in games without stealth gameplay. And I can be very patient. Watching enemies and taking them out in the perfect moment. But open world games often show, what the factor npc means and this is when things go wrong. Especially in Far Cry games. In one moment everything is fine and in the next a bear appears and everything is going to hell. Leading the enemies right to your position and then the alarm is triggered...

I had a plan to platinum Dragon Age 2, so i would never have any reason to play it again! I only needed the Chantry Historian trophy for the platinum, so i sat down and pinpointed where all of the texts were, and found that the only difficult one would be the one in chapter 3 in the Chantry, since it can only be found at one specific point in the story. Now, my plan was to have a playthrough, simply to get these texts, but ended up actually enjoying the game! I still played through the game just for the texts, but because i was actually enjoying myself, i forgot to look at my notes during chapter 3, so i missed the Chantry text and by the end of the game when i got to the last text and the trophy didn't pop, i realized i had missed it and had to play through the game all over again!

I don't fail that much in Far Cry games in terms of stealth (I still fail big time though), biggest fail I had was a complete stealth challenge in the final part of The Last of Us: Left Behind; when a group of people are trying to barge in the store in which Joel is in and Ellie just came back with medicine for Joel's wound, I used a bow to stealthily kill guys at the second floor, then only 2 guards were left, I still wasn't spotted and since I'm quite the supply reserver, I used a molotov since I had no nail bombs, then I missed and I got spotted...

Best laid plans (and all that) was in Thief, trying to pickpocket a high ranking guard/overseer, fumbling the buttons, and engaging in combat instead, instantly alerting the three crossbow wielding guards where I was shot full of holes, and barely managed to vault over the side and escape. Except I didn't escape. I spent twenty minutes hiding in a vent to make sure that they would stop patrolling and basically shot to pieces the first thirty minutes I'd spent memorizing guard patterns because once you attack a higher up, they change up their routine. I spent a lot of time hiding in vents. Can't wait to play Hitman 2™️!

Kerbal space program, wanted to launch a part for my space station (in career mode). And behold! A mammoth and a half of a rocket. I launched, and it turner out to be top heavy. And when i approached at maxQ (highest atmospheric pressure), i had throttle too high and went too fast. My rocket desintegrated into nothingness, and so did my kerbals. Rip bill

Resident Evil 4, getting onto that island with those Regenerators and going through with a good amount of ammo, only to run low on both ammo and health... and saving afterwards. That's about as far as I got with the game in general. Though if Resident Evil 2... or 3 counts (can't recall which), where I started the game, I auto aimed at something offscreen, fired... and found out that it was an explosive barrel and killed me in the process XD

One time when i was just messing about on GTA San Andreas i was parachuting off a building in Las Venturas and tried to land on a semi truck. Evidently the driver Ai kicked in and the driver screeched to a stop that immediately caused like two or three hundred cars to crash into them. I remember backing up down the highway as the ensuing explosions kept getting larger towards me as the entire screen filled with fiery explosions. "I'll land on a truck i thought" "It'll be fun i thought". Oops i've gone and blown up the world.

Played Sea of Thieves for the first time a few days ago thanks to the game pass. Got on the ship with 2 other random people. I drove the ship out of the and after a few mins of moving very slowly I decided to moving the rails side ways to see if it does anything. Got back on the wheel and all of a sudden the water started splashing onto the ship and started rising as the ship was sinking. The other 2 randoms ran up from below and just looked at me like they were saying "What are you doing?" Needless to say the ship went side ways and we jumped off. I'm under the ocean watching my ship go upside down and sink. I couldn't help but just look and cry with laughter.

Xcom 2 is brilliant. A person i was playing online happened to flank my sniper with two people completely pinning him down, cue a grenade to blow the roof they are stood on which happens to make them fall right next to my ranger unit very pointy sword. I’ve played Skyrim for >1000 hours with ~800 saves and I’m very embarrassed at how bad PlayStation access is at Skyrim, 😂 I’ve gotten to level 200 before using the restoration exploit, but I decided i wanted to stay with my level 85-86 dovahkiin, as a lot of people have chosen to do, but I’ve never seen gamers that haven’t got daedric armour and/or weapons, or dragonbone/hide armour and/or weapons. But at least they’re having fun, and that’s the point of games isn’t it? Love PlayStation access, please keep playing games, and please keep making memories.

so I was playing assassins creed origins and was about to try and clear an area of guards I think it was by krokodilopolis so of course I expected crocodiles I even factored it into my plan I was going to approach from a river on one side of the area and take out the guards on that side and maybe use their blood to attract a croc or two to attack other guards while I climbed to higher ground what I didn't factor in was during my swim to the place I had picked up a couple of crocs already and didn't notice so things are going great plan going perfect till I'm surrounded by crocs which alert the guards and yea needless to say it didn't go well poor bayek ended up as chum

My Plan that went wrong was Killing the Ebony warrior i could not kill him no matter what i did so what i was decided to do was i set 10 frost runes and 10 fire runes and then i raised a dead troll and summoned a gargoyale and turned into a vampire lord but i also had a deer to kill with a heavy attack when i get low. instead of me killing him the fire runes did not do anything his armor had fire res and the frost did 50 points of damage the gargoyale started to attack but died in 1 hit and i tried to kill the deer to get health back but then he heavy attacked me once and i died after using commands to kill him i saw he had a sword that did more damage to vampires and his armor was perfect for negating everything i had. so a battle my character "Kratos" could not brutally murder. and forgot to mention the troll attacked the deer and then ran off because of the ebony warriors effect "Fear" btw modded version of the game to make it harder
