@@juggalogamer8541 CGI has its uses. Like it's really good at enhancing what's already there. But you're right in that it's way over used. Films that overuse CGI, unless the film maker is really creative, all start to blend into one another, and it gets hard to tell them apart any more. It's really a shame.

I wish movies nowadays would use more practical effects and less CGI. CGI is getting better and better with each year but they still have a ways to go. I hope the childs play reboot doesn't suck.

Most of the time its still awful, unless its for disney, disney is the only one who knows how to do it right, I mean just look at The Lion King if they fuck up this upcoming chucky reboot its gonna be the laughing stock of the century

I honestly think a balance between the two always tends to work the best (at least when it's a live action/hybrid movie). Having practical effects being enhanced by CGI has the benefits of looking more polished (or being able to achieve visuals practical effects couldn't manage alone) but also manages to give the actors involved something to react to (or act with if you're wearing prosthetics/are operating a puppet) and has the obvious positive of being...well, real; that's something the audience picks up on too. The best example I can think of is "Where the Wild Things Are," which combined people in suits for realistic interactions within the environment and with the main character, but with CGI to animate their faces fluidly and enhance the fantastical environments in their world. I've always loved how that movie handled its visuals.

Casey Prestash I mean the child’s plays reboot used puppets the only cgi seems to be to touch up facial movements mostly the mouth I feel due to being filmed before casting the voice

Hair bands! “Jason!” Pink Don Johnson Jackets! “Freddy!” Lost virginity! “Fangoria!” Full head life casting your claustrophobic friend and maybe not really knowing how to do it properly! 1982 version of “The Thing!!!!!!!!” When your make up kit smelled like fish( because it was your dads old tackle box)! “That poor werewolf lost in London!” Breaking out that old kit(that I kept all these years) and sculpting, molding, running foam(silicone this time) and painting a zombie mask with your teenage son. I for one will never let go! Long live practical effects!!!
