“One of the few mistakes that I allow myself and of course it never happened again.” , “You don’t have to play perfect, you just have to play convincingly.” I love him going flexing just like that so casually. Just hope I can do that too one day.. And no wrong opinion I’m so with this lingling.

No one teaches this better or plays it as beautifully as Pahud = in my opinion.

The emotion in the playing of this solo is truly beautiful... it's rich, clear and speaks to the heart... exactly what the piece was written to convey.

Absolutely BRILLIANT. I think the first run is usually rushed and doesn't add to the languidness of the entire work. I so love how this master flutist discusses and demonstrates.

Wow wow wow il me manque des mots pour décrire tous ce que sens . It is REALLY playing with a pro. Funny coincedence: this video-clip was published excactly on my 49th birthday and it is my all time favourite flute solo ! Thank you so much, Monsieur Pahud ! Cheers from Berlin Andreas Mazur

Between Galway, Rampal, and Pahud, Pahud seems to play with the keys the hardest. Sometimes I feel like he's slamming the keys into the tone holes, which makes me wonder how often he needs a re-pad. XD But seriously, his tone and sound is impeccable, regardless of how loudly he slams the keys.
@tobiasandrews37785 жыл бұрын
EnterTheFatrix Tom Nyfenger should be on that list. Instrumentalists usually don’t make me cry and this guy did it in a few notes. At the time, I’d never heard an instrument sound more like a voice than when he played. Noisy fingers, tho.
@ThomasMulliganFlute4 жыл бұрын
He also probably plays with straubinger pads which are known to be slightly louder when pressed down

Technology is very different now. I suspect the mics now pick up every little thing including the force e place on the keys. The tone and sound that linger after he is done with the phrase is just amazing.

"The weirdest harmonies of the piece". That is so true. most Ravel passages are weird, it's just about finding out which part is weirder. This is however also what makes his music so "modern". These harmonies creates something that is so "right" when analyzing them as whole passages. The melody lines are one thing, but his harmonies though.

I'd say my two favorite flute players are Pahud as well as Elaine Shaffer (from the 1970s). Each has a totally different sound, but each is the embodiment of the instrument. If you have a chance to hear Shaffer's Bach Flute Sonatas, they will inspire you as much as Pahud. Think: the "roundness and evenness" of her sound. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaGxgIGmj9qkq6M
