Congratulations on the first 100! Always enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming! BTW: Those PSUs look a lot like HP ones. Thanks for sharing!

I had a Fujitsu server with a defective power supply yesterday. It was exactly the same as in the HP DL380 G5. The only difference was that the handle was green instead of black and ONE connector pin was different.... the HP P.S. did not work, we had to buy a Fujitsu one. But same manufacturer...

Why can't the pinout and physical size of server PSUs be standardised like ATX. They should be so any PSU can work with any server. Its stupid that only 1 pin being slightly different made it not work.

Yep, Huawei was very much into telecommunications backend stuff and servers before they later started their own "consumer products" division which is what makes the stuff like their P and Mate series phones.

Since it is a Skylake (the last microarchitecture to support Win7), it is possible to disable secure boot and run WS2008 R2 and Win7.

5:38 - The first one is incorrect. Adaptec is acquired first by PMC-Sierra (hence the branding "Adaptec by PMC" after the acquisition) and subsequently acquired by Microsemi Technologies (current branding is Microsemi Adaptec). The second, third, and fourth one is correct. LSI was acquired by Avago Technologies, then Avago was acquired by Broadcom.

Marco Bogani it's a low end one. I believe xeon gold go up to 22 cores/cpu so that server could be an 88 thread beast!

ok, i am really intrested for this server. How Mouch? And do you will ship it to Hamburg Germany? It looks like a nice host system for a vmware esxi.

It's not for sale. It belongs to a customer. He paid 15'000 Euros. Dell will ship it to Hamburg too :-)

Time to boot Debian + LXC containers: less then a minute. :) Time to boot uefi and all those nasty bios-modules: many many minutes. :( It is almost always faster to let another server take over then it is to wait for servers to reach the bootloader. But this increases the overall complexity, which is another bad thing. I don't like computers anymore, for every problem they solve, they create a few new ones.

I know what you mean... Some servers take up to 5 minutes until they start booting. I always thought that computers have become faster.... It seems that HP has realized the problem and they advertise the new Gen10 server as booting after only 50 seconds. I have tried it - It took 90 seconds :-)

Computers have become faster, but the extremely shitty firmware with all the useless or even harmful stuff has become slower then ever before.

Huawei is a bit problematic with downloads. You need a partner or engineer account login. As memory you need DDR4 registered RDIMM or load reduced LRDIMM. You can not mix RDIMM and LRDIMM. Any memory of the correct type will work, you don't need explicit Huawei memory.

Sure but huawei has been doing it on network gear and servers for years, that they have been trying to give to telcom companies for years. Last 3 years we've been offered 3 different 100Gbps switches from Huawei for free at our internet exchange but we've turned them down every time because they are a state sponsored organization.

Can the name of it be changed from "The Server" to something more meaningful. "The server" is not a very imaginative name. What if you had 2 or more of these. They cant all be called "The server", that would get confusing.

The US DoD named them as a "security threat", prompting Google to gradually remove Android support on Huawei smartphones. The last hope for Huawei is the AOSP (Android Open-Source Project).
