25:30 Tip for building pedestrian-friendly cities: pedestrian overpasses are a very car-centric way of designing things. They're terrible to actually use -- having to walk 10 meters up and down into the air just to cross a street sucks, especially when you realize that it would have been effortless for the drivers to cross a bridge. Instead of building overpasses, you should just make it easier to cross the street by putting medians on the roads. Alternatively, you could raise up the sidewalk or sink the road -- then you can make an overpass without forcing pedestrians to climb into the air.

I would love to see more of Shirley. I think from the perspective of making a city as quickly as possible and the. Going back and modifying the things that aren’t up to what you would normally do is kind of closer to how reality works anyway. Cities grow and grow and grow without future-proofing and then all of these infrastructure changes need to be made decades or even centuries later. It’s so interesting. Love how you’re taking a city that is already “complete” and making it work through changes rather than working from the start with a complete vision.

I see fellow NJB viewers here lol. Tbh I’m actually a bit mixed on that point; I feel like if they’re done up well (and not just concrete trenches) then they can actually be places to gather around (see the massive roundabout overpass in Shanghai’s finance district or even New York’s High Line Park which could technically count).
@thomaswijgerse7232 жыл бұрын
@@spartan117zm we have some nice under-/overpasses, here in NL, but thats usually just over highways and stuff. There is no other way of safely crossing one. But streets should be designed with pedestrians and cyclists in mind first, with just good and safe crossings.

I love the DLC and your videos on playing it however I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed that Paradox couldn't seem to develop a way to "paint/mark-out" pedestrian walkable paved ground and you still have to find a work-around (by copy and pasting paved paths next to each other). This DLC would have been the perfect opportunity to implement something more permanent...

I'd call the city Vespucci and the beach area Vespucci Beach respectively The empty area i would fill with small little booths maybe an openair theatre? Campfire sites. Loads of beachtents and maybe further west of the beach a festival area named Vespchella. Last note i would do a small busstation west of the ferry for regional busses and busses to shirley and tourist stops inside Vespucci (
