ah mate please help me here, i used same method but RSLinks shows plc as unrecognized device. been trying it for days now. Also in routing section , if i incert gateway ip 0.0.0.0 , a message will display 'error in gateway IP'.

Awesome video thank you for the knowledge! One question though. After going step by step and updating the controller IP in rslinx, it shows up as unrecognized device. Any insight on what might cause that to happen?

You are simply missing the EDS file. Right click on it and you should be able to upload it from the device. Hope that helps!

Question: In case of Vlan 1 : 130.130.130.5 and Vlan2 : 172.20.81.5 still might work the routing? I mean, it should be connectivity between both networks? Thanks

Hello, I got an issue while assigning the gateway in the enable routing step. It shows a pop up saying its invalid. Actually when you submit the info is an blink in your screen (or probabbly you change you PC). Can you give an extra detail in that step, please

Thanks for the video .. very helpful Hi , I have a problem where i have 16 devices for each device we have 1) same ip address 2) default gateway is set to 0.0.0.0 each device need to communicate with a common PC These settings can not be changed so after seeing your video i am planning to use 1) Stratix 5700 - Catalog number 1783-BMS20CGN :- it has 16 ports (for NAT) 2) Stratix -5400) - 1783-HMS8TG4CGR :- for routing does the architecture will work with the all device with default gateway of 0.0.0.0

How come I get an "Error in gateway IP." message when using the 0.0.0.0 on Routing Gateway Address?

The switch should have an IP of 172.16.1.1 and no gateway. The PLC has an IP of 172.16.10.10/24 and a Gateway of 172.16.10.1. The RIO has an IP of 172.16.11.10/24 and a Gateway of 172.16.11.1. The PC has an IP of 172.16.1.245/24 and a Gateway of 172.16.1.1 (which is the same as the switch IP). The VLANs, 10 and 11, in VLAN Management must point to the PLC's Gateway addresses. www.plcgurus.net/forums/topic/startix-5700-vlan/page/2/

That's correct. Unless you explicitly configure it to the vlans will remain segmented.

I watched the whole video cause at the beginning you set the RsLinx driver to ETHIP, I was like finally someone figured out how to browse without using a ETH driver and adding every single device IP address by hand, just to find out at the end of the video you changed the driver to an ETH driver and added everything by hand 🤦‍♂️

I tried this a couple of days ago myself with a Stratix 5700 running version 15.2(6)E2a firmware. I was able to enable routing and just leave the gateway blank on the routing page and everything worked. Hopefully this helps!

Just a note that Stratix 5700 will have different features depending on the catalog number. You will not get a routing capability if you have the basic catalog number. Please see manual for details on the meaning of the characters in the catalog number.

Not sure I'm following but yes your VLAN IP address must be unique. Typically you'll assign the vlan a xxx.xxx.xxx.1 or .254 address, these are common gateway addresses. Then your PLCs will be on the same network as the vlan to which they're assigned. Hope that makes sense.
