just came across this creator. The reason that the scammer askes if you have access to FB marketplace is because of how online subscriptions work for like FB work poor countries like Nigeria are charged by SUBSCRIPTION, not service. So for example, FB is subscription, and they are charged a weekly access or data charge to those subscriptions. Whatsapp is usually free cause it is linked in with google or something like that. This is why they (scammers) always want you to switch to whatsapp. That and it hacked on the reg.

@@dannydaw59 they can by using the rently app. If the home is already posted on there then the scammer can send the link for the client to view the home themselves without anyone else present. Thanks for posting this. I worked as a leasing agent for homes 10 years ago and this is what we ran into a lot. Sometimes these scammers would say they are doctors who left the country on a mission trip, were in an accident and seeking medical help somewhere else, they need someone to just take care of their house temporarily, etc. They often would have an excuse of why they are no longer using a realtor and sometimes will tell people to ignore the lock box on the door or just cut it off. I have even ran into somebody who sent a large security deposit and first months rent to a scammer and we’re living in one of our houses that we were getting ready to do construction on. We couldn’t get their money back, but we gave them some money to help them out. These guys are jerks and will always try and make it quick buck. I always tell renters to never give money to anyone they have not met in person. There are also ways to check to make sure who is actually the owner of the home.

Me and the wife contacted the ad, the "owner" was looking to rent the place out, said he was a truck driver and on the road, gave us the code to look at the place, and came to an agreement we wanted it. Once again he was " on the road" and we only dealt with him on text. Lesson learned later of course BUT never go forward if you never meet the person. We reluctantly paid the deposit and after contact went dead afterwards. Again i was in a bad spot at the time and thought nothing of it, but lost out, but recovered. So in conclusion thank you for going after these scammers, sometimes a minor win in justice is served by individuals as yourself.

The owners of the house are also victims of this scam, if the house is actually real. I've heard stories of people showing up to vacation rentals, just to see the house is already occupied for months.

Somebody almost got like this in Nashville. They had a real house up and everything. I drove to the house and didn’t see no type rent or sale sign. I wanted to knock on the door and let them know their house was online, but nobody was home.

This is so hilarious! I had a scammer who wanted to give me a 'personal assistant job' and I investigated him and found he was supposedly in a very unlikely location in Australia and had zero business credentials whatsoever. He argued the point before I hit delete. But this is even better!

Oh my gosh! This was hilarious! Being a visual learner, the puppets really helped! 😂😂😂 No but seriously, I think it’s time for a VPN! I love the scammers who say, “I’m from Texas USA!” Yes Du Rick, we always say, “USA” after we give our state. So, to all scammers, please make sure you add USA, after everything. We Americans have to remind each other of this, all the time. Remember, USA! 😂😂

The reason you couldn’t post the ad on marketplace is because your account was too new. They make sure your account is at least a couple of weeks old before you can post on marketplace.

I ran into a similar scam a couple years ago. I too strung him along for about two weeks before exposing him and letting him know that he was going to be visited by the FBI soon. He posted a job listing on Craigs List similar to the one you responded to.

As a real estate investor, when I was first getting tarted, I came across this very scam. I immediately knew something was up, so I also accepted the 'job', and when I got the first house, I went to it. It was indeed a recently rehabbed home. I went to the neighbors, and they told me the house had just been sold a month earlier., for about $100K more than the price in the ad I was supposed to make. I then went and called the real estate company associated with the sale (and that they were using in the ad), and sure enough, they were not the ones hiring, and the home had sold a month earlier. The apparent scam was to get people to pay earnest money on a property they didn't own, and disappear

Thanks for the helpful video. I would take caution with engaging in scammers because all they need is one piece of information that you may think is innocuous, but a clever scammer is able to ruin your life with a small amount information you give them along with data mining. 😊

I love how thr scammer is needlessly oversharing. Certainly a smart way ro go about this. Especially if the oversharing is written in scammer language.
