CHECK YOUR FACTS. The brand Gerald Charles was FOUNDED by Gerald Genta. He made some prototypes that had the same design as the watches you show here. I think that its a cool way to tribute the man. Putting the watch on the market that HE DESIGNED! For me it feels like you are way of and just hate on the brand because they are expencive and market the brand... Stop throwing around numbers when you have no clue what the costs of making a watch are.

I am seeing this in 2024, and the video doesn’t make sense, because the models are from Gerald Genta, they always were.I guess regarding the movements that might be correct but by now today all movements from entry models are vaucher which AP also uses on the Royal Oak. So I don’t get it

So the beef you have is with the price? Really you are upset at $31,000 tag in the watch business? Does AP really cost anywhere near they sell for.? I would agree with you if your concern was only focused on misrepresenting a major designer, but in this industry all the manufacturing are extracting HUGE margins on their products. Also What was that “ maybe his wife is designing the watches but I am not sure?????? Sounded a little disrespectful to be honest.

These models are also restricted to 100 pieces per year which means they are limited edition. That hikes up the price.

I wouldn’t buy one, but I don’t think the “sum of parts cost is low” is much of an argument. I doubt there are any luxury watches that cost much more than 1k to produce (my guess is my Rolex Air King cost Rolex a couple of hundred at most), the value is all in the brand / marketing / design, don’t blame them for cashing in.

@@jeffjacobson59 Lange is just a small piece of a large conglomerate Richemont, at least Rolex (and Journe) are independent I guess, but at the end of the day, watchmaking isn’t rocket science, more like art. A painting doesn’t cost much to make either.

If they really wanted to cash in on Genta's legacy they should be knocking out quirky humorous retrograde and jump hour watches as it's what he ended up doing and also I think there's a real gap in the market right now for those complications and watches that don't take themselves too seriously.

This is a bit different as they are being posted double retail price for sale on Chrono. My point is that they are not special and should be trading very low at a later date. Right now there is some hype for these but I wage the hype should eventually disappear.

@@JohnPWatches i think they make very limited quantities and that alone might be why it might support the high secondary price. Only 19 GC watches on Chrono, with 69K of Rolex. Not too hard to see why it carries such a premium.

I appreciate your and Fed’s honest approach to the market: you buy watches and sell them, at what I think is very correct pricing, end of story. There’s another channel/retailer whose content I enjoy, but it is so clear that they are constantly trying inflate one brand after another. It’s not just buying and selling, it’s influencing the market. Nothing technically wrong there, but I attribute a lot of the worst aspects of the hobby to what they’ve spent years doing. What I’m saying is: please keep doing what you’re doing at DelRay Watch!

The watch box said the new Omega Speedmaster is not worth the price because Omega probably spend $200 more to make all the new upgrades for the watch while Rolex raised the price by over $1000. On their watches last year with out making many changes. Now you are saying that this watches are not worth the price and I believe you but you also said I can find a better watch in your shop for $2000. I looked and could not find a gold watch on your site for $2,000

Genta has some watch movements that even stumped Cameron Weis as to how he made the pieces before laser cutting and other newer production methods. Still, other than AP, PP, UG, and the Mickey Mouse watches ....his watches are good values. For private requests, Genta hand-designed the movements, dials and cases of his timepieces and employed limited or no external assistance, outsourcing or mechanization during the process; it was not unusual for a single watch to take up to 5 years to complete.[Chilton &, Co (1995). Jewelers' circular-keystone (CK., Volume 166, Issues 7-9).

@@wertj3977 No, you buy them exactly like that. It's the Vaucher VMF-5401/32 option instead of just the base 5401. They also have a more "high tech" looking decoration as the VMF-5401/33.
