The cheat : I was (wrongly) accused of cheating at an top tier university - I received an A in physical chemistry. About a year later I received a phone call from my professor. He was going going though his old boxes and found my final exam booklet. For some reason he looked though the booklet and found a - small - piece of paper with a formula written on it. The professor changed the grade from an A to an F. It hurt mostly because I knew the subject very well. I retook the class and got an A - but the F stayed on my record.

in one of my terribly hard classes in high school, all tests and homeworks were online so many people who knew memorized that all year and learned nothing. It protected my gpa though and got me moved up to a higher course, at ap level, saved me a lot of hours of work. can’t say I regret it

These points are very good. But it is easy to cheat but hard to use your brain. All you need to do is study, research the things and take notes but for test you need to use your memory.

Honestly it’s not surprising you got into such good schools your senior year of high school. Youre not just smart but you seem like you aspire to learn and gain wisdom and value education. Im 17 and a junior and youre such an inspiration and a reminder that good grades arent what i should just be aiming for but i should also learn to aim new things

I mean, most teachers put the same amount of effort into it as cheaters do. But they got their college degrees though so that must mean they are automatically great at their job right?... diplomas and degrees mean nothing if you don't have anything to offer this world. If it's about making more money in the future than put all that time and effort into something else other than college and focus on that, unless of course you know what you want already and getting there requires a degree and all that stuff.

Yes. In India, it should ideally be absolutely OK. Students have every right to, but there are idiot invigilators ready to scare you by shouting out loud and pulling you by your tie to take you to the principal and then calling your parents. But actually, considering the present pathetic education system in India, I daresay you MUST cheat if need be. Education system here is crap. Focuses only on academics; all extracurricular is considered secondary and even useless sometimes. Even in academics, it focuses only on memory, not on understanding. I hate it. For going to a higher standard, you won't be assessed on your skills and talents, you will be assessed only on the basis of a damn stupid report card and your marks. I even hate the word “marks”. Not everyone has a good memory. So the poor students, in a desperate attempt to score good, cheat in exams. And I encourage them. Cheating is a way to revolt against this idiotic system. I am very sad to tell you that talking to parents is also useless. They don’t have the time to revolt against this bullshit education system. And what's worse, they are grandmasters at taunting their children when they score less. It seems as if teachers here were not made to understand children, only to bore them with their lectures, so better not explain your problems to your teachers; its a chance in a million that teacher understands you. So when a student cheats and is unfortunately caught, these shameless teachers try their best to have the student punished badly, as if they themselves were idols of honesty and truthfulness in their childhood. If the education system is so crooked and crap that it plays on the life of the student and decide his or her future only on the basis of stupid marks, then it has no damn right to expect the students to be straight. Students have a right to cheat. And they SHOULD. This education system is almost a crime; deciding the child’s future solely on the basis of academics and marks, because it results in so many student suicides which was unheard of before. And teachers are a part of this crime because they do their so-called duties of catching the students who cheat. Since they are part of this crime, they are guilty. AND A GUILTY PERSON HAS NO FRIGGING RIGHT TO SHOUT AT THE VICTIM. First change this shitty education system and then talk of punishing the students who cheat. As long as the education system is crooked, students also have a right to be crooked.

I am not sure how you expect to thrive in university when you can’t even handle the basic workload of school without resorting to cheating. Claiming that you have EC’s but poor academics will get you nowhere. Universities are at heart academic institutions, so your academics should play a huge role in deciding if you get in. Having EC’s, while important, should never justify poor academic record. You also mention teachers, we all have bad teachers. There are literally thousands of great resources online USE them. Don’t just sit there trying to justify the dishonest and frankly disgusting path out of a problem,

I know HP might have been joking, but she was giving pretty usable advice. And there were lots of kids in the comments that seemed to agree with her, along with a number of other youtubers' videos out there that DO very clearly advocate for cheating and suggest methods to get away with it. HP's video was just prompted me to make this one in response to a larger attitude that I've noticed among students.
