tbh write it on anything, what are you passionate about? what's your favorite food? literally anything that can show colleges who you are as a person, something that lets your personality shine through. im writing mine on a family dish (or abt crocheting still trying to decide) but as long as you have real passion and can connect what you write about to your life youll be ok. Have friends proof read it etc im a rising senior rn so ive started working on my essay if youre 16 i wouldnt worry about it too much just start focusing in on specific interests for extracurriculars

it doesnt have to be a sob story, it can be as simple as how you struggle to get up in the mornings. what i reccomend is writing about a metaphor and relating it to personal growth. for example, soemone wrote about how their coffe order changed over the years and how it reflects finding personal balance in life. dont get your hopes down by restrciting yourself to these thoughts like "i havent lived long enough" or "i dont have anything to say". have a talk with yourself and look back on this past year. how was your summer? what did you do or didnt you do, and why so?

@AllyFin I would write about how they are more than just a writing utensil or tool but an extension of a person, I would mention how the countless of options in terms of materials and design make the choice feel more personal. I would also highlight how all the different types of nibs from fine medium broad and stub provide line variation, bringing flare to an otherwise dull writing style. I would also bring up how all the different kinds of unique ink, such as shimering and blending, make writing/drawings all the more fun. I would also add that compared to ballpoints, they may be less convenient, but even after choosing the ink, paper nib material model. writing becomes something personal and enjoyable that you look forward to because nothing beats the satisfaction of shining wet ink drying, leaving beautiful, unique marks. (Tldr) I'm a huge pen nerd. On a side note, tho ever since I got into fountain pens, I would journal every day along with enjoying taking notes which i usually found boreing.. They are also really fun to draw with.

It’s not that these are bad topics, it’s that they aren’t good topics unless used in a broader idea or context. For example, writing about moving houses would be a bad topic if you only wrote about the situation and its immediate effects, however it could be a good topic if you use it to illustrate how you had to learn to let go of the past, while still maintaining respect and fondness for past stages of your evolution.
