Hey, just a random question: Where could I get jazz standard backing tracks for mp3 player? Or even backing tracks that repeat a chord or sequence of chords? I cant seem to find anything. Mostly I find tracks with piano... )-: Thank you!

Chicken Alive Farms I honestly don’t know. I make my own play-alongs on my computer for myself to practice to. Jamey Abersold has a huge amount of them made, but this is from the 90s and on. So it’s all on CDs.

Actually I've been trying to practice without 3rds and 7ths, when and if I know what they are, but now I'm going to use Blues Scales and that's it. No style at all, style is for the birds. Ever hear Miles Davis say "Can't you guys play a fifth?"

Holy chit man! We don't need no stinkin' bloooze scale. We got minor pentatonic. Jeez, don't even need that cause we got sus2 chords. In fact all you ever need is an Ebsus2 and once in a while on special occasions, Asus2. (Actually, I would love a video on sus2 chords. I use them all the time. Did you know a sus2 chord has one foot in each of the three diminished 7th chords? I use six sus2 chords in a major scale (including one lydian form). Use sus2's over shell voicings, root/fives, etc. - and, while I am at it, how about a video on the really cool Hirajoshi, (Iwato) scale? It lives in the major scale. For exqample you can use C Hirajoshi over Fm7, which makes it a rootless utility scale, no "F", how cool is that?) Thanks for the fun joke!

I don't understand that. You were one of my favorite you tube instructors. Please don't take your videos down. I don't have a style. Copying someone else is how new people learn till they know enough to have their own style and it comes out. I would like a book. It would save a lot of time wasted on watching you tube and trying to find the part that was what I wanted to learn. Don't quit. I don't know what made you make that statement. You can make some people happy sometimes and others sometimes. You can never make everyone happy all the time.

LOL You actually sound like Shredder guitarists in required Jazz improv class in music school. They can take a set of changes and via a lot of SciFi like mumbo jumbo analyze it down to one scale fits all. Ask them for their analizis and you hear a lot of... well this is the relative of the relatives sub, whose relative sub-sub.... A whole lot of incest going on to get to one scale.
