I want the Emperors Children to have variety in how they look. Slaanesh is excess in your personal pleasures, goals, desires, etc. so it should be different depending on the marine. I would love to see some pristine looking swordsmen obsessed with being perfect. Some crazy feral berserkers obsessed with stimulants. Noise marines for the music obsessed. Some chonky marines for the glutton obsessed. Hell maybe some crazy artists obsessed with art. Have that be how they’re distinguished from their combat roles. Who am I kidding, James is just going to make them all look like Lucious.

I think they should lean into the juxtaposition of ornate pristine art and body horror. The dude in Unmade from Warcry flashing his flayed face is awesome, want some of that. They should have something like a close combat noise marine unit with charnabal sabres and low frequency speakers resonating with the blades etc. Throw in a cult of charred flesh that wears exquisite coats of skin, who eat their slain foes burnt flesh to gain buffs. And for the love of Slaanesh, they need loads of vials with combat stims administered by ornate servo-heads mounted to their powerpacks.

Honestly I kinda hate the fact that GW are treating the god devoted factions like the Thousand Sons and the World Eaters as nothing more than an excuse to sell and field a primarch. The world revolves around Magnus and Angron, and almost every single army that actually wants to win games takes them. Everything else is marginal, it's annoying. I want to be able to play the army without having a primarch-shaped hole in it if I don't bring them along because they're off doing something else.

They should do it AOS-style, where each chaos god has their own fraction, with the god-legions being but a piece of those fractions, along with daemons, cultists and whatever other horrors GW wants to bless us with.

That is because that's what sells the most, they will always follow the money. They have a different approach in aos (not least being cheaper by a significant margin with some armies). However while that gets the money thry will I think flesh the 4 legions out once they are all out. Remember too each game they sell will have a investment budget, the tooling for injection plastic is not cheap by any means. This edition it is really rather obvious where the bulk of the 40k tooling investment has been placed, space marines, with black templars in 9th (probably going to get more this edition), dark angels in 9th and 10th and blood angels in 10th and rumours of space wolves in 10th alongside the core marines range. This will likely continue in 11th I expect. How much budget is allocated to the other factions over this edition and next? Love it or hate it, those marines pay for everything else as they sell way more than their tooling and design costs compared with other factions which may take a decade to repay those costs, maybe more.

I'm writing a paper on pay to win mechanics in video games, and that's exactly what Magnus is. The army should be viable without having to purchase him. The game should not be functionally impossible to play without him. That's bad design. But then GW hasn't been a game company in probably 20 years.

Thousand Sons are what? Specific TT kits are: Rubrics Marines, Scarab Occult Terminators, Sorcerers, Infernal Master, Ahriman and Magnus. The rest are ported AoS Kits, and generic Chaos Vehicles. Variety is pretty much the same as WE. Since ES will not be part of a new edition narrative like DG were in 8th, I expect them to get the same treatment at launch as WE and Votann got. Basic Infantry Noise Marines, some Elite Infantry (Chosen most likely), bespoke Cultists, one generic character modell, Lucius and Fulgrim. Maybe a way to field Fabius Bile.

I just checked, the Kroot alone got as much variety as TS, but they are only a part of the T'au not the centre point. one infantry, one elite cavalry, three characters on foot, two on Lizard-like-back, and some dogs.

Maybe if they've advanced the lore, like Ahriman manages to return some of the rubrics, we could have awoken rubricae as elites or something. I was hoping SM2 would help with this, but it was a massive disappointment in that part.

When I first started playing Warhammer 40 K, my very first army was Chaos Space Marines, which focused on both noise Marines, and plague Marines, and I have a bunch of the old metal kits of both including old metal Lucius. When the death guard got their major release, I was over the moon and they became my primary faction, and now looking at a potential emperor‘s children overhaul, It’s hard not to get really excited. I’m trying not to get overhyped, but that’s basically impossible so I really hope they have a bunch of vehicle options, melee and shooting options.

Would have been awesome getting Kill Teams in the style of Warcry Warbands with mixed renegade astartes, mortals, daemons and even Chaos Xenos operatives/slaves. Tabletop is pretty bad at representing the lore for Chaos imho, it’s waaaay to predictable!

And slaanesh is imprisoned in the AoS lore and is in part how morathi achieved godhood. The newer models for the hedonites are great. The older inherited ones less so. Seekers, daemonettes, chariots etc need a replacement. The big daemons in most of the aos chaos factions are fairly new however (remembering of course that the horned rat is part of the chaos god pantheon in aos).

Since Chaos daemons and no other mono-god faction has been revealed for a codex, i'm gonna be on heavy copium and say they will mix Khorne Daemons together with world-eaters like in age of sigmar. They can do that with each of them, which would fix their lacking range.

I am always a bit confused when people ask for ranged options in WE or melee in TS. Like yes from a lore point of view it does make sense, but that is not really their identity? As an army on the tabletop i mean. Like i neither really want to play or play against a ranged WE army. That army is built to murder everything in close combat, and that is okay as long as they suck at range, kind of the same way it wouldnt really be helpfull if Tau have good melee options. So if you give them some range, you need to nerf their potential in melee. And at least i feel that would get them to lose some character. Although i would love for the legions (or CSM in general really) to be able to field demons in a meningful way.

Slaanesh and Nurgle are both battling for the “whose followers can have the most body horror” title, so I really hope they play into that. Moreover, I hope they take design cues from the mortal hedonites from AoS. Those are some of the best looking models in any Warhammer system. A Miriel Sabithiel model could be cool, but you just know Arch and the other professional woke spotters (most of whom have never heard of or ever cared about 40K) would go apeshit.

Noise marine will likely have bolters as its basic weapons with sonic weapons as a special and heavy options. One thing they can do for fulgrim is a different pose and give him the gladius incandor that guilliman lost when he fought fulgrim, a nice little nod to tge characters history.

I'd be impressed if they get anything more than character and noise-marine refreshes, fulgrim, maybe a new character or fabius will be exclusive to EC now, generic lord, either a heavy infantry or unique cultist/ chaff unit, and a noise vehicle. My best guess on how they might work is high hit chance, low strength ranged weapons that have strong perks, and lost of strike melee profiles. They'll probably have a few ways to deal battleshock. Maybe fulgrim would act like a souped up neurotyrant.

Going by the hammer and bolter episode about Lucius, I expect a lot of weird mutations and body mods. I really hope they lean into the EC being opulent and angelic masters of their craft just as much as they portray the whole kinky mutant hellraiser on bath salts side of them. I really want to see intricate marble carvings and carefully sculpted gold Aquilas juxtaposed against horrific mutations and depraved altars to suffering. In their eyes they are as much sculptors, painters, musicians, and duelists as they are torturers and marauders. Also def want at least one shoulder pad littered with subwoofers.

I bought 18 Forge World sonic blasters and kitbashed 2 Devastator grav cannons for blast masters and put them on 20 Chaos Legionnaires. I swapped out the 2 blastmasters' backpacks with the backpacks from the Noise Marine upgrade pack. Then all are painted in the purple and gold scheme with a wash of AK Interactive Brown Wash for good measure. They look decent imo.

What i think is probably all but certain is: Fulgrim, lucious, noise marines and a cultists mob of some description. Beyond that is anyone's guess. Do they replace the hellbrute in a daemon Prince way? If so sonic dread yes please. Daemons is going to be interesting too, as the rumours are that the Daemons codex is dead and the four legions will have the Daemons in their codexes. Do they therefore also give new Daemons as part of the second world eaters range refresh phase? Daemons bulking out emperor's children? The daemonettes, seekers and others are in need of new models.

A new non-named character or two and one or two new units. Everything else will be the generic chaos marine vehicles. Maybe with a sonic dreadnaught if we are lucky.

I think the other 3 legions were pretty much what we got was what we expected. World Eaters needed to deliver bezerkers, Thousand Sons needed to deliver sorcerers, and Death Guard needed to have marines dripping with slime. All 3 of those legions have had similar model designs throughout the years and we always kind of knew what was coming next. Emperor's Children however has such a blank canvas to explore that I really don't know what I want it to look like. Yes we can all expect Noise Marines but how are the going to look? Their designs have been wildly different throughout their existence. Don't think they are going to do the original 80's rock style of them. They may even go back to some of the 3rd edition art work of them which was really twisted looking (the second codex not the first). When I think of Emperor's Children I think of body horror akin to that of Hellraiser. Just a bunch of twisted flesh to increase sensation. This chapter's history is insane and depraved. Just read about what they were up to during the Heresy let alone 10,000 years later. I really hope that design element is present. Other than Noise Marines, its pretty safe to expect Fulgrim, Lucius, a specialist unit, and a chaff unit. Would like to get characters like Eidolon, and a Terminator unit as well but GW usually splits up their new armies over 2 editions (World Eaters or Votann for example). Overall I think this is one Chaos army that never had a really defined look for them, as the other 3 did, and we can really get anything.

From what I understand, World Eaters was supposed to have a Wave 2 release that hasn't showed up yet due to things at GW becoming . Same could be said about the Wave 2 of Votann that hasn't showed up, or the Horus Heresy infantry units that dropped off.

A unit that I think might be interesting is a naga-like possessed unit that makes them look like half-snake space marines since they might veiw fulgrim as a perfect being they might try to mimic that

This is more a long term idea, hopefully an 11th edition goal, but have a way to have an army that is all of a single chaos god, so have csm undivided and daemons undivided be their own armies and Slaanesh with both Emperor’s Children and Daemons alongside with their own rules and detachments, and khorne units has their own army etc

Not exclusive to EC/Slaneesh but I'd like to see more xenos (specifically from the current big xenos armies) in their range as a way to emphasize the ragtag outcast/renegade nature of Chaos and make it more prominant of a force for the other xenos while alo (and most importantly) emphasizing and diversifying the xenos factions as prominant elements of the setting worth exploring and characterising wothout having to make whole army ranges. Also imagine the fun you can have with the models and designs and themes. An eerie and decrepid looking nurgle eldar wraithlord made of literal bone, slaneeshi ork speed freek bikers whose faces are stretched and peeling off from the sheer speed they move at, khorne kin/squats in furnace-like armor with moutaches and beards of fire, or an incredibly twisted looking tzeenchian tau mech with limbs and apendages too long to be normal where you question where the metal ends and the fleshy bit begin just to name a few. In reality, asside from making xenos more prominant in the setting as a whole, chaos xenos have immense potential for wild, fresh, and out there designs to vary the ranges with. Like get the AoS team to come up with some crazy shit.

I want the noise marines to just go a touch into the rock marines of the original while still looking mostly as their modern(ish) artwork interpretations based on the upgrade sprue/cacophony. Make it look like the Cacophony went extra over the 10k years.

For Fulgrim weirder on the body and crazier in the posing. Because the HH model is fallen but not fully into the extremes yet. Hooks through his skin tearing as he moves, drug dispensers, speakers, maybe a captive or two he's wearing as living armor. Lots of trophies. For the rest, the 40k should be the HH kits with some of the extremes of modern EC on top. The usual elongated powerpack vents to start, maybe implanted blades or other grafted 'enhancements'. And actually, no spikes on the armor. The armor should show their continued obsession with perfection, and random spikes aren't 'perfect'. But each should be different too, customized to the individual marines idea of what 'perfect' means. Pleasure Cultists, Teratas, and Kakophoni as the battleline Palantine Blades and Phoenician Wings in light support Phoenix Terminators and Sun Killers as heavy support Bikes, Sonic Dreads, and some kind of big legion-specific daemon engine as vehicles Lucius and Eidolon as Epic Heros, with some support characters.

Honestly, as goofy as it is, I want the new models to have gun guitars like the retro Noise Marine. That model is what sold me on collecting CSM and I've wanted an Emperor's Children army since day 1 of the hobby on account of that model.

Tbf we also have two lions. The house heresy one is also not that old and the 40k version is an amazing upgrade imo. So I don't see a problem with a second deamon primarch fulgrim. To the emperor's children, I hope they get terminators and maybe a deamonic biker unit

I wish they'd remove the whole 'separate ranges for separate games' stick they have up their bum and release/expand on god specific Beastmen for AoS/ToW and give us 40k upgrade sprues to bring them to 450k. I get that not every model will fit every setting (even with modifications), but there are some very clear examples and this feels very much like one of them to me. Among other things of course, mortal cultists for 40k would probably look a lit different than the AoS ones and it'd be a shame to not have some representation in the Codex for these. Fiends and the Infernal Enrapturess are both Daemons of Slaanesh, there is really no argument why they shouldn't be available in 40k.

What im generally thinking/hoping for: Noise marines- Ranged unit Drug based marines or cultists-Melee unit a sound based Rhino tank that's just a Stage with a noise marine on top or cane built as some other secondary tank unit-plaugebust crawler equivalent or Noise based Predator Ascended/"perfected" - Terminator equivalent (playing into the original legions ideas of perfection so they could be like barely armoured almost statuesk looking marines new Lucius New 40k Eidolon (as they seem to be pushing him with the new HH novel) New Fulgrim But I'm just spitballing here XD

I was originally afraid we’d only get 1/4 of an Army like TSons and World Eaters got, but then Imperial Agents happened. If their idea of the Inquisition’s grand return as a proper fighting force on the tabletop is “some kill teams and units from other armies we scotch-taped together, oh and here’s a plastic Coteaz who’s somehow worse than the dumpy resin one”, it’s added a new layer of fear to seeing my army of choice finally arriving with a codex. I genuinely fear GW would be incompetently braindead enough to only give us plastic Fulgrim (looking worse than Fulgrim Transfigured because the 40k model quality has generally gone downhill and my faith in GW’s overall miniature design is now entirely placed on the AoS design team trying way harder than they need to) and then go “Oh and we’re not updating Lucius, the Noise Marines, or giving you any other unique units, see you next edition!”

I really hope we get sonic dreadnoughts back. I guess a sonic hellbrute these days. I think we need: fulgrim (i'm not paying au$400) for a resin model. Luscious the eternal noise marines as our troops. pheonix terminators (all mono gods except khorne have their terminators) A generic lord, would be cool to have the '80s metal' model reprised for that. A cultist unit. I'm not really interested in them but it doesn't make sense to not include them. I'd also like an elite duelist power armour unit like palatine blades, but I think there are currently bigger priorities so this unit is less likely

its going to be a coin flip. frankly, God specific Chaos Space Marines should work similar to the unique chapters like Dark angels. pulling from the chaos space marine codex, but having a set of their own models.

they should just use the AOS system and have all the forces of each god together in their own fraction, not spread out across multiple. The Death Guard would be but a wing of the Nurgle fraction with one or two dedicated detachments, for example. with how small the new legion ranges are, it would probably work and free up GW to make some more god-specific chaos models that arent more space marines.

Personally, I hope that the emperor's children release carries over to the chaos demons. With a current ruling that was added with the last update, a majority of my exclusively Slaanesh chaos demon army got gutted because I don't have enough battle line units, and there's only one battle line unit I can run, that being the demonets. After looking through the index, Slaanesh and Khorne have one battleline unit each, where the other two chaos gods have at least two different battle line units, which makes running a single chaos God exclusive Chaos Demon army a bit of a pain. Hoping this "year of chaos" gives the demon lines a bit more love.

Its a bit weird seeing the Lucius model being proclaimed "old" when I remember seeing it get released during the global Medusa V campaign (along with the Vostroyans Imperial Guard regiment, Nurgle Daemon Prince and Eldar Ranger sculpts)
