Yes Suhr - Please don’t kill the Bella reverb, and also please continue to offer the cool woodgrain trim option!
@Varone263 ай бұрын
I recently ordered a Bella. No reverb, or wood grain trim sadly… Nevertheless, excited to finally own one. Though I do wish Suhr would bring back their older aesthetics especially with the Badgers and hedgehog rather than this new Black Out design.

I think this would have been my next amp. Great combination of sound, build quality, power, excellent reverb, somewhat portable and not crazy expensive for a 'boutique' piece. I can get on without a second channel or a tremolo but the lack of reverb on the new ones are a deal breaker for me.

My favorite amp I’ve ever owned. I have the head and cab, will never sell it. Sounds great even at very low volumes, takes pedals extremely well, and sounds beautiful all on its own…such a wide range of usable settings. Even the reverb on 10 is a really cool tone.
@jackmears64113 ай бұрын
John, have you ever tried a PT15IR? Your love for this circuit, combined with your technological prowess, indicates to me that might be your perfect amp. The Clean channel of the PT15 is based on the Bella Circuit (no reverb and 6V6s, but still a wonderful clean channel). Channel's 2 and 3 are very "plexi-ish" - share an eq, but have independent gain/level. Great Master Volume, LOUD 15 watts. But the killer is a full Suhr RL/IR unit. You can run it with no speaker cab hooked up, or you can run it with BOTH the RL/IR direct to FOH PLUS a speaker cab, if you like. Add your favorite Reverb in the Effects Loop, and it's like the most flexible "Bella" you've ever seen. Head weighs under 25lbs. You can take just the head to gig.

I don't consider Suhr to be Boutique, and beyond the semantics of that, let's get down to the business of making amps. If you happen to create a popular and succesful amplifier, there are two things you can do. You can make it indefintely, or you can create a scarcity of it, to add value. The big thing these days is re-issues. Mesa Boogie is doing it through Gibson ownership, and Bogner may do it with some of his designs through B.A.D. ??? The thing is, that some designs are not exactly profitable, so building them does not add incentive, despite the popularity. So an easy way to build value in a design, is to create scarcity, or build mystique. A company that is not actually boutique has a tough time with the latter, but can easily manage the former. Ultimately, you are building a following for something that you can re-issue later, at a higher dollar amount ( special edition etc. ), and build at a lower cost, adding profitability. That's what I would do if I was a corporate machine....

How would you compare this amps cleans, as a pedal platform, to the Lone Star Classic (which I once owned and have thought about repurchasing) or the Fillmore? I am using an Ampeg VT-22 right now, which gets that piano tone easily. Thus, I need something warmer and less mid-scooped.

Damn, and I was considering buying a bella head to accompany my AN overdrive reverb. Such a great sounding amp and at it's price it's a steal too. A dumble-style amp that only costs slightly above $2,000 US? That amazing considering that a 64 custom deluxe now costs over $3k and the 57 twin amp costs almost $4k.

I can definitely see as digital/modelling becomes the pre-eminent choice for amplification that mass produced tube amps will mostly fade away. Sure Fender won't be effected in my lifetime but plenty of small builders already feel it & soon big name small builders will be feeling it. I think the Suhr Bella should disappear as is & be retooled as a more luxury item, a hand-wired made to measure sort of boutique amp. Does that defeat the purpose of the Bella being a budget Dumble? Kinda. But as it sits now you want a budget Dumble you're just going for modelers & if you're old school you'll get a pedal or save up for a Two Rock. That's just how I see the market with regards to amps. They're becoming a luxury and should probably start being a luxury product.

I understand that boutique amp builders prefer not to include on-board reverb, but for me as a guitarist who doesn’t need fancy reverbs, just a touch to liven things up, I always prefer that the amp has reverb, which frees up one more space on my already over-crowded pedalboard, to put something like an envelope filter or octave pedal.
@Varone263 ай бұрын
@@jakollee I agree to that! Luckily though we’re in an age where minimalist players can use a small sized verb pedal to get some real estate on your board.

@@Varone26 yes, I actually have a TC electronic Hall of Fame mini (about as small as you can get!) that I sometimes bring with me when I’m not sure about a backline amp or rehearsal studio amp having on-board ‘verb, but I also bring along an extra patch cord and separate power supply (wall wart type) rather than switch it out with a pedal on my board. corporations have one problem with their business model and that's greed.... they find reasons to price gouge you even more instead of finding ways to give you better value without compromise...and in the end they are shooting themselves in the foot... yeah they get the quick gain, but long term... FAIL !!! an example of how a company takes good decisions for the consumer...Vola guitars decided to cut out middle men and is now selling direct and reduced their prices !!! so while Fender and Gibson are charging more than double vs prepandemic prices which is BS, Vola are trying to make things more affordable for their clients. I will never again pay the prices they are asking nowadays, and I see many videos online now about it..... The amp makers are charging insane amounts now too!!! Many can barely afford one good tube amp so the less people buy.... prices rise and the vicious circle continues....
