Getting to the intermediate stage of meditation, where it becomes intrinsically enjoyable most of the time is a great achievement and should be encouraged.

This brings to mind a quote from Alan Watts…exactly which lecture it is from I can’t remember, so I’ll have to paraphrase, but he challenges his audience basically saying ‘if meditation is how you attain enlightenment, then why would the Buddha still do it?’ …and after a brief pause, he says something along the lines of, “well that’s just how a Buddha sits…” before chuckling and moving on ;)

Lauritz, another great video! I like to think of developing pleasure in meditation as depending on three factors: seeing clearly, letting go, and retaining enough meta-awareness to see that you are moving in the direction of greater peace and joy. Attaining to deep states of concentration, where meditative pleasure reaches its peak, requires balancing clear seeing and letting go. It is like balancing a pencil on its tip. Too much in one direction and you lose your balance. Seeing clearly can result in tension in the body and mind if not balanced. Letting go can result in drowsiness or fogginess of mind if it is not balanced. And without the ability to track if you are heading in the right direction you can "wake up" minutes later having realized that you were not engaging in the "task" at hand. You are right about the peace being so welcoming that if you have free time you will want to seek it out. I should also note that I often have to go through a period of settling before you can reach this peace. You have to "mount the mind" with mindfulness and ride each disturbance of the mind like a surfer on the ocean. The key is to not react. Simply be with whatever is present and the mind will calm on its own. It also helps to start with awareness of the body, settle it and then move on to calming the mind. Body scans and just sitting with whatever arises is very helpful in this regard. I did an interview with Stephen Snyder on my channel about the Jhanas and meditative absorption. I would love to speak with you about the topic as well. I will reach out to you via your website and perhaps we can set up a time to chat on the record. Thank you for sharing.

Hello friend, you are right, stress and nervousness is why i am staying away from politics and negative news. stopping from our daily routines and thinking about our existence and meditating with some ambient sleeping music is pretty positive. I don't understand how can people cope with their hyperactive stressful daily lives
