Michael at 0:28 you speak of the reflections in the white sand, ( from the water color ) , your “” chasm deep reflections resulting from the elaborate transparencies that are raised in the mass “” are uniquely interesting, thinking the close white water with “” as layered glass with imagery looking through from below”” . Placing “ two superior creations near each are such a heightened creativity “ , Michael, this particular painting is an arrival on the path of creativity, beautiful ❤️

That watercolor is killer!! I loved the comparison at the end, throughout the painting I loved the colors so much so it was a suspenseful watch sometimes when you made changes, but I love the final product!

interesting that you are using the watercolour to plan out the oil version. To be honest, I like both paintings. As you rightly say, with the oils you can create textures that you maybe might not be able to do in watercolour. I like the fluid nature of the watercolour though. I think with oils you can get more depth to give you a more convincing headland. Easy to over analyse with paintings - sometimes better to step back - i probably still don't do that enough. Great paintings as ever!

Great class! Do you use liquin because you want to dry the paint while you are doing the paint in the beach?

Thanks Henrique! I use Liquin because it helps make the paint more fluid and easy to apply quickly. The paint usually stays wet during the painting process, unless it's very hot outside. If the weather is warm the paint will start getting sticky about an hour into the painting which is not ideal. I often switch to a more traditional linseed oil based medium to avoid this problem, when the weather is warm.

It's got a nice sunny mood. I don't know if Your'e familiar with the work of Frank Frazetta but in His Paintings He used the darkest values transparent and You really can see the gesture of His brushwork wich looks very attractive. Sorolla did this too, and if You use a Technique this Master used...how could You go wrong?👍

Maybe I'll make a video about painting clouds. One tip is don't paint the dark parts too dark. Another is to keep the edges soft where one color or value meets another. Hope that helps!
