Thank you! I hope the beautiful rhythms of Puerto Rico will spread all over the world!

The great thing about Michael and his tutorials is the combination of great rhythms (the stuff we all want to learn!), with the accurate musical notation that allows me to break down, and learn, what I can't just hear and do. Plus, he just seems like a humble and nice guy.

I sent it to all my friends in the USA. They are all veterans of the US Army that served in Korea. That was very nice of you to explain this in English. .... Envie este video a mis amigos veteranos del Ejercito de los Estados Unidos que estuvieron conmigo en Corea. De este modo aprenden algo de Puerto Rico.

Thank you for these wonderful tutorials, you are an excellent teacher (apart from an awesome musician). You explain with such clarity, simplicity and precision. Other tutorials consist mostly on people showing how they play, instead of clearly showing how to do it. Your videos are very appreciated. Thank you so much once again!

my god, I have been trying to find a video which explains and breaks down the rhythms in English for a long time. Thank you very much for this video. I also have the same set of plena as you so it's helpful to have a point of reference for tuning.

Great explanation of plena rhythms, my favorite music and what I also consider to be the most distinctive puerto rican music. ¿Quien no se siente boricua con una plena bien repica'? Thank you Michael.

Plena comes from barbados a married couple from Barbados, Catherine George and John Clark, who sang in the streets of Ponce in the early 20th century, accompanied by a guitar and tambourine. Mr. Clark said to his wife, “play Anna,” and the Puerto Ricans, hearing it, twisted the phrase into “plena.”

Hope this message fulfills its purpose. My attempts to pass forward this link leads, on all attempts, inexorably and in hopelessness to THE WIZARD OF OZ!? Your approach is very friendly and accessible, very appropriate for people who do not have aspirations to be a Plena Diva, but still can use a bandaid for their souls. Find out who Is messing around with your likages.
