What I love about Plini is that he doesn't have to flex on every song and in every moment. He can just bring the melody and the movement and sit back and find greatness in the song. It's not a technical flurry constantly. It's why I think I find his music so peaceful. No doubt he can bring the speed and technicality to the song, but it's not always necessary. He serves the song instead of forcing the song to serve him. It's a beautiful thing.

@@mortenhansen3455 Since this mix is great, I think vinyl should sound the same or worse. Vinyl has bass distortion and limited extension and inner groove distortion... Everything is very well mixed in this digital track, on contrary to what 99% of the industry does. Loudness war is destroying music... They tend to release vinyl records with a normal mix and digital releases loud beyond what the media can support, heavily distorted, compressed and sounding like complete garbage all in order to profit more, because shouty music tends to grab more attention of the ignorant masses and generally the only ones who generally care about quality are the ones which purchase vinyl records. The thing is, the pressings have digital masters and vinyl sounds worse than digital recordings, which is another reason why to ruin the digital mastering, all in order to justify the expensive purchases of the also ignorant but more wealthy audiophiles. Vinyl is more limited and sounds worse than 16 bit 44.1khz PCM, but poor mixes sound bad on everything you can shove then into and good mixes sound good anyway, unless the media is really terrible.

His best release yet. My favorite song is the title track. So much guitar-licking goodness packed in those short 3 minutes.

Long time fan but Damn! Outside of the GREAT mix Chris Allison outdid himself. I think I have a new favorite drummer. 😮😮

After hearing the first two awesome tracks released over the last few weeks, this is not the album I was expecting.... but Plini and Co have pulled off something so diverse, vast, creative and appealing, I’m finding myself picking favorite tracks on every listen and finding the magic in sonic places I never thought I would... It is so much more than a guitar driven album, in many areas guitar takes a backseat. Plini and Co are truly next level musicians! Simon’s mix and production is immaculate as it is in avant garde. His adventurous bass playing is much more mysterious on Impulse Voices than any previous Plini release. His bass lines weave among synth bass. Is it him playing bass through synth effects or midi keys? Who cares as it just works with the arrangements spectacularly. Chris Allison’s performance on drums is pure ear candy and he goes next level on this album! His approach to rhythms here are one of the biggest highlights. Plini himself just goes in so many directions and yet makes all the meshing of genres seems so natural and effortless. This album will be a talking point for decades me thinks!

Plini is the new "old classic" in the sense that he's going to be remember. He's great as the big players, right up there with them. Would like to see him play or compose something with Steve.
