I am so glad Hirokoshi make a point that while the villains are humans and are understandable, it doesn't justify the fact that they took innocent lives and hurt so many others. Even if they were pushed to a breaking point by a toxic environment, they are the one's who chose to change the world by killing and destroying. It is a very important point we must all understand: Suffering and pain doesn't justify infecting pain and causing devastation on the hole world

Yeah yeah, but society is still responsible for creating an environment for the to exist in the first place. Things need to change, and if those in power are ignorant to the suffering of the people, then violent action is necessary to expose the ugly underbelly. It is the only way sometimes. And the heroes have done nothing but protect the status quo.

The fight with Shoto and Dabi is somewhat more similar to the Zuko and Azula, especially since Zuko went down the same path kinda like Dabi, but he actually managed to be with the good guys. And also because Shoto's and Dabi's flames match Zuko's and Azula's. So the comparison is really closer than one would imagine.

In *Flame of Recca* this type of plot is also seen, which came out way before both (late 1990s) - brother with fire powers (big brother with different color flames), older brother supposed to be original heir but younger brother the one chosen, brother with scar, etc. lol

I'm assuming now that Shoto's equalized his quirks he can use them both at will. It's no longer "Half Hot Half Cold", it's just "Hot and Cold". He can not only produce greater temperatures than Endeavour he can continuously cool himself down with ice at the same time?

One thing I've been confused about is this whole idea going around that Touya/Dabi is a Nomu. It seemed to be pretty clearly stated that he would have become one IF he had stayed in that weird institution, but he didn't. He left. Yes, he was saved by having a significant amount of his damaged body replaced, but this is not how they create Nomu. They were considering him as a potential candidate for the same role that Shigaraki ended up taking on, but after he regained consciousness they realized that, as a result of the damage his body sustained, he was no longer considered a suitable candidate for their plans and that's why they would have ultimately used him to create a Nomu if he had stayed. Despite this information seemingly being very clearly presented in the story, a significant number of people are calling him a Nomu. Am I missing something here?

I think you're right. Toya didn't actually die (although he was very close) so he wasn't a corpse when he was retrieved by afo. And nomus are said to be made of corpses right? These corpses are the base and they get genetically modified to have more than one quirk. I think it's pretty clear that Dabi only has one quirk tho... the math aint mathing. He's not a nomu 😩

Nah, you're on-point. People just don't bother remembering what they read, and insist Nomu is a catch-all term for *anyone* experimented on when that's not the case. He isn't a reanimated, mutated corpse, therefore he isn't a Nomu.

I like how Shouto is bringing up both sides of the argument about Touya and the Todoroki family. Yes, what Endeavour did was inhumane and their family has suffered a lot from his methods in various ways. Shouto will not deny it, as he knows all to well how their father's actions can effect his victims. However, Dabi/Touya still chose to become a serial killer and take it out on people who didn't deserve the horrific and painful ways they died. He's perpetuating the cycle of violence by killing people who had nothing to do with their family's suffering, and in turn caused other families misery and pain. Shouto is acknowledging both the brother who suffered and the criminal who caused more suffering.

I’m actually impressed with the message here, I had the idea in my mind that somehow Shoto was going to get through to Dabi and save him the way Deku saved him, but it seems like the author is sending the message that even if you have the best intentions in the world sometimes you just can’t change a person, that there ARE people in the world that are irredeemable. Dabi literally killing himself with his own flames is chilling man, the dude has completely lost it lol. One of the most interesting characters in the series for me, and this skeletal, zombie like design is amazing. REALLY hoping they don’t censor this fight scene in the anime with his skin literally burning away, I want to see this animated so badly 😭

If it wasn't that he's insane, no, even despite the fact he's insane, how can Dabi/Toya make such ridiculous assumptions about his little brother. Shoto was NOT any where near being "doted on" by Endeavor, just because he had what he thought was "perfect training." Did he see one thing while everyone else saw something else? The very idea Dabi believes this... is crazy (like him).

Having Endeavor's attention and being trained by him is really bad as we know from Shoto and he has his own problems that Dabi may not have even had, although I think from Dabi's point of view Shoto at least has the benefit of not having been given up on, he won the genetic lottery and got to be the successor One of Dabi's main motivations for being a villain is that he was born with a quirk that made it impossible for him to live up to what his father wanted, and that his father just kept having kids until he got the one with the right quirk basically writing Dabi off as not worth even training which majorly upset him since he really did want to live up The reality is that both of them got abused but it's probably easy to see it as worse for themselves, and of course with how Dabi turned out it's going to naturally be harder to see past that I think Dabi really needed to not fall into the wrong crowd; had he been surrounded by people like Midoriya and Iida instead of having bad influences during a time in his life where it was critical for him to heal mentally I think he could've turned out better

not even joking man, neglected kids often view their abused siblings in that way because they're getting the attention that they're not getting. Keep in mind touyas training with endeavor was some of the best times of his young life, so he wouldn't immediately associate endeavor training shoto as abuse as much as he was envious that shoto the golden boy got all of dad's attention. also might have been easier for him to make that distinction of abuse had he actually been allowed to develop a relationship with shoto. lets not forget endeavor basically quarantined shoto from the rest of the house. the ONLY time he even saw shoto was when endeavor was taking him to do the ONE thing touya wanted to do with his father. so yeah I can see why he sees it that way.

If he does redeem himself he would be in a mental jail, and he would see his family often until he has faced his consequences and is stable again to see his family and live a happy life, if dabi did die, the family drama would be over but worst since touya actually died, and shoto would be the one to kill him which would be traumatic for Shoto, rei is also mentally unstable so it wouldn’t be a happy ending for her either to realize that shoto had to kill her eldest son, especially for endeavor, he would feel true guilt and that it is all his fault

Speaking of Iida, he can move *very fast* Combining his speed, which could create wind, and having Iida run circles around Dabi, combined with Shoto's temperature control and one of the sidekicks abilities to change a moving objects trajectory, all together could be used to trap Dabi in a raging Flame Tornado (Firenado lol) in order to defeat him

Even if Shoto doesn't. Fact is, Dabi being able to held himself together for this long is labeled a miracle by the doctor. Dabi is pretty much suffering from a terminal state. He will die, one way or the other.

I think Shoto finally realized that his brother is beyond saving or at the very least incapable of reasoning with. Putting him down is the only way to truly save Toya/Dabi unless Shoto can find a way to freeze Dabi to keep him from burning up. I think that is too cruel though. Toya has had a terrible existence and I think death is the type of finality for the entire Todoroki story. There needs to be consequences to Endeavors actions. I also think it is the message of this arc: some people cannot and do not want to be saved, but perhaps if society changes, they can prevent more Shigarakis,Dabis, Togas, and Spinners from coming into existence or more importantly, prevent another being like AFO from gaining power.

I read in a comment on another video and in an article that phosphorus, the namesake for Shoto’s new move, can be used as a material for flame retardant. Dabi had also noted that Shoto “neutralized” the heat of his flames. Shoto had even said this move was specifically created to defeat Dabi, by suppressing his fire. He knew his brother was going to pull this, that’s why he said he was the one who was best suited to stopping him. Look, I agree that Toya’s done terrible things, and no matter what he does not get to pin his actions on a horrible childhood and a toxic relationship with his father. But death is not a punishment, it is escape from judgment and responsibility. To the idea that Dabi is completely mad and beyond saving, so the only thing to do is put him down - sorry but no. He needs to own up to his crimes and there are full articles and stories on the net talking about people recovering from psychosis. He needs help, not just to be put down. Shoto is here to stop his brother, not kill him. Shoto says Toya should just take all his anger and hate out on him and Endeavor, and Toya will have to oblige. These two are clearly going to have to beat their feelings out so Toya can finally calm down. I really don’t care if I’m the only one in these comment sections who feels this way. Call it a reflection of my personal belief that death fixes nothing.

I mean Dabi killed MANY even if he's goes to a trial he would need the death penalty. Dabi really is beyond reason since he is willing to Kamikaze himself to make his point... At this point you either put him down or he will put himself down but take others with him. Right now there isn't even enough stability to house criminals and Dabi is highly dangerous and will kill without reason. So this isn't a time were we can handle him with kind gloves, it's a war and in war there is death.

And this new powerup move from Shoto! The fact his body can now be wreathed in flames like his dad. And going into physical fighting moves instead of long range! I have been waiting for this showdown for so long!! 🤩🔥

Since the creator has made it clear he only cares about ending the story, I can only make assumptions but to me this would be anticlimactic if the fight ended here. Dabi had just said he was watching Endeavor and Shoto for literal years trying to figure them out in order to defeat them; know your enemy like you know yourself and all that jazz. So with that in mind I would look Shoto in the eye and say, "You developed a technique to beat your brother in the span of a couple of months... Dabi has had LITERAL years. You REALLY think he hasn't long since figured out what you just discovered and has planned accordingly for just such an eventuality!?" To me it isn't going to be fire that stops Dabi, if anything it should only make him more insane. The only way Shoto can, and SHOULD, beat Dabi is by using the powers and abilities that Dabi DOESN"T possess, you can't act as Dabi's opposite if you don't possess what opposes him. Despite what people say you don't fight fire with fire, you fight it with water... or in this case ICE.

It was stated in the Dabi flashbacks that his hair turned white from red due to the fact his body is more suited for an ice quirk. So I doubt Ice attack’s will work on him that easily. Also during that my villain academia arc we see Dabi fighting that guy with the ice quirk and didn’t lose.

God this was a GORGEOUS chapter. And Jesus Dabi looks insane. Throughout the chapter you see Shoto blasting HIMSELF with ice to keep pace with the heat of Dabi’s fire. Something I’m so happy to see because I have said while upscaling each student, Todoroki could have limitless heat and cold if he can regulate himself with the opposite at the same time with no concern. And under the highest pressure (and soon to be just regularly), he should be able to cast ice from his fire side, and cast fire from his ice side. Because your DNA is not constrained to one side of your body, and Shoto has no signal on his body that only one can be blasted from one side. (His hair has no effect on his quirk) Leaving the only limitation to be they can’t be used from the same LIMB at the same time because they are used too differently and it would be too painful and slow to make an actual water move. And WHAT do I spy this chapter? He is both handed freezing himself…and he is using FLASHFIRE from his ICE side. WITH THE ENDEAVOR SYMBOL ACROSS HIS WHOLE CHEST. I CALLED IT. This changes SO much of what this kid can do. If he learns how to keep his vitals and internal temperature the opposite regulation as the move he decides, he can go ENDLESSLY in either direction and survive. For best movement, freeze with both feet, and propel fire with both hands. Like frozone with jet propelling. And he could just keep his internal cold and just EXPLODE fire all directions. Prominence Burn to the max. Or the reverse and just make a freaking blizzard and go full arctic. THIS is what makes him an OFA contender WITHOUT plot armor. Can he surpass it? No likely not. Maybe 1/3 to 2/3 of the prime. Which is where I measure most contenders land when they are maxed out to me. (They are not, they are teenagers, not prime adults) Including Gran Torino and that’s why I think Iida is ALSO a contender WITH plot armor. There’s 2 of each among the students. Bakugo and Iida should be able to keep up with plot armor when pushed to max…and Todoroki and if I am correct Uraraka being the other to be able to do it without. (Gravity Control continues to be a beyond busted possibility everyone continues to think I am crazy about. All signals STILL point that way, her quirk is ANYTHING but simple when looked at through a microscope.) Nothing really else to say. The fight looks glorious, Endeavor’s arsenal keeps getting explored, and I think we will start to see ice variants of the techniques, Dabi wants to TORTURE Endeavor. And punching Shoto with 10,000° heat IS one way, but I just need to see the breeding efforts were in vain. (STILL think that has to happen. It just has to.) Also Endeavor cutting through the Skyscraper was 2,000°, and falling from the Stratosphere was about 5,000°. Hence why I put Dabi so high up. His fire as a prime adult should be significantly superior to hold them all that far back since his fire is greater than Endeavor’s. The possible ice inclusion for Dabi will make this an amazing fight. Also Iida, love you man, PLEASE do something. Use a new recipro or SOMETHING. I can’t stand seeing you being just a spectator. You are the damn class rep. Put it all to the test. I want to see what I believe to be the new Gran Torino at work. You got the new costume, I know something is in store for you. (I’m thinking flight gears and his next speed unlock. Maybe he can ignite the ground as he runs and make twisters when he runs around you.)

Could’ve done the little flashback scene without shoehorning the class 1A members to make it more personal, but still a good chapter. I still think Dabi will personally try to hunt Endeavor. There are many hints pointing us to Dabi also having ice. And nothing would hurt Endeavor more than seeing he did have it. Between the hair changing color, the claim to torture Endeavor, and whatever is in store from the fact he has survived WAY longer than he was predicted to with a few years span of unknown rescue efforts from AFO, Dabi hasn’t been consistently among the most powerful villains for no reason. The big space of unknowns is what propels these fights. And even though these people are separated, a great deal would want to be elsewhere. So I see reorganizing on the horizon.

Dabi was rejected by his father, all for one, and society as a whole. He chose the life where he would be the one to subject endeavor and anyone precious to him into complete oblivion. Yet, all shoto wants to do is save him and actually get to know him. This arc is very much intense as much as it is eye catching. I hope the battle takes a good direction where Dabi can live but still take accountability for what he did. It might seem impossible because he's blinded by rage and revenge but I'd like to think in that possibility. Shoto is caring and i love to see his character development moving forward. Seeing how Dabi puts shoto on a pedestal (like if endeavor praised him when in reality abused him) its kinda heartbreaking to be honest.

I love how Shoto said he is who he is because of his friends. Unlike Touya who decided he didnt need friends and he could do everything by himself. Thats why he asked Shoto he a fan of all might and how pathetic he is because All Might did everything by himself and Touya believes he can do everything himself due to his quirk.But All Might doing everything is what caused the hero society to crumble. What we learned here thats its ok to ask for help and have other people shoulder the burden he carries. It shows that Touya going to meet his end soon. I really hope this doesn’t end with Dabi dying. It doesn’t seem like what Shoto’s going for when he says “defeat” either. More like neutralize. I think it should come down to an all-out brawl with the brothers and Endeavor leading up to Dabi exhausting himself to the point where his body gives out. This is followed by a swift capture, they take him into custody, and the rest of the family comes to see him in the hospital before he’s transferred to a high security prison. When he opens his eyes in the hospital room it’ll be like a parallel to when he woke up from the accident on Sekoto peak. In the room will be Natsuo, Fuyumi, Shoto, Rei, and Endeavor. Dabi/Toya will think he is dreaming but does a double take and looks around the room. Everyone gets to say what they always wanted to say to him and they spend the next few days with him while he heals up. He is then transferred to prison to serve his sentence for his crimes.

The fact that Dabi is going to die is kind of unsettling to me. Yeah he's a villain but he is still aa human being, no matter how you twist it Dabi is a human. Part of me is like "and that is why karma exists, to remind people like Dabi that there's a price to pay for everything", on the other hand, a different part is saying, "he killed people and there's no justification for his actions but despite what they've done, no one deserves to die." On an unrelated note since you used to cover Avatar the last Airbender, could you make videos on the comics and the books that they released and are relaesing.

He’s not dying, allow me to elucidate: Tenya was placed there by Horikoshi specifically for the purpose of either rescue, transportation or both. Shōto’s new technique as its namesake is a flame retardant. Prior to attacking Dabi he already used it to protect himself from the heat of Dabi’s flames by neutralizing it (hence Dabi's surprise when Shōto neutralized the heat). Shōto’s plan from the very beginning was to suppress Dabi’s flames with his new technique hence the reason why Shōto is so confident that he could apprehend Dabi alive because his new technique will prevent Dabi from using his flames to burn himself and harm others. I suspect Shōto discussed his plan to his family when he was shown reuniting and talking with them in ch.342, afterwards when he was at the dorm with his classmates in the same chapter he even mused of forcing Touya in eating Soba with him. But I seriously doubt Shōto's plan will ultimately succeed. in ch.351 there is a panel of Iida remembering Shōto’s words in ch.342 page 15 thanking his friends for being there for him, this foreshadows Tenya performing a rescue move on Shōto. Dabi will most likely break free from Shōto’s technique and launch his suicide attack Prominence Burn on Shōto before the latter could suppress his flames again. That will be the moment when Tenya uses his speed to save Shōto from the attack’s line of fire. This would also be a way for Tenya to rectify his inadequacy regarding helping Shōto during the JT arc when he lamented he wasn’t fast enough back then to help Shōto. the risk of which is Tenya's engines possibly melting from the heat. Dabi committing suicide however is a narrative defeat for Shōto who had no intention of killing his brother and wanted to apprehend him alive, so this will be the perfect opportunity for Horikoshi to introduce a Quirk awakening for Dabi Dabi has passed quirk singularity and is on his way to ascend. Horikoshi really likes to connect these type of things to Vigilantes. For example, quirk supression. First we've got Koichi,his mom revealed that his original quirk was air walk, and just a few weeks later Tomura unlocked his memories and his original Decay. And now we are going to see the same, but this time with Koichi/6 and Toya. And the signs are there: the main feature of passing singularity was battle rush, when both Koichi and 6 were just happy to fight each other and even somewhat felt free. The same with Dabi's situation right now. The most probable kind of Quirk awakening he will get is a Phoenix-type Quirk aka Ash Resurrection. In the MHA visual art exhibit last year that hinted Aoyama's betrayal, Dabi was depicted regrowing a few strands of his red hair, this is highly suspect because it was shown in the Manga that Touya's hair completely turned white by the age of 8, and him being depicted with red strands of hair as an adult seems to indicate regeneration. Getting a Quirk Awakening will mostly likely prompt Dabi to abandon his fight with Shoto and opt to find Endeavor instead, he was only forced to do a suicide attack on Shoto because he was cornered and his body was already falling apart with no means of finding Enji. I can't clearly predict how Horikoshi will make a Quirk-awakened Dabi cognizant of Endeavor's location, but I see two very possible scenarios, either one of Endeavor's sidekicks accidentally blurt out that Endeavor is in the Gunga Mountain Villa ruins outside Jaku City or if Dabi will threaten to kill one of Shoto's companions if they don't divulge Endeavor's location, either way Dabi is mostly likely going to leave immediately once he finds out where his father is with Shoto chasing after him, if Tenya will not be seriously injured from rescuing Shoto then he could provide the former with transportation, if not then Shoto will try to catch up to Dabi by himself, leaving Endeavor's sidekicks to fend off the remaining Nomus in Kamino.
