Great video! The more I watch about Plotter, the more I want to try one. It's like the elegance/coolness of a Traveler's Notebook but with the functionality of a ring planner. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I would highly recommend. My only hesitation, is finding the right size that makes sense which is part of why I spend so much time on trying to show/compare sizes in the video. I would recommend buying the refill sizes you think would work best and try those out first. The price is really high, but if you get a notebook you really like and use it can be more justifiable :)

I have this same notebook, and carried it in my back pocket until the ring mechanism separated from the back plate. It is very easy to fix with some needle nose pliers, but you probably don't want to keep fixing it.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been afraid to sit on it, so I mostly keep it in a front pocket. I've had some good luck with it, but I'll likely do an update video in the next few weeks about what I've observed. Thanks!

Yes, the ring size is smaller (slimmer) than the Filofax

Thanks for the review. I'd consider it as a wallet notebook combo, just unsure how the rings would stand up to being in the back pocket, or how my butt would standup to the rings.

So far it's working pretty well for the front pocket, but not the back pocket -at least not while sitting down. I'm not sure if the rings would hold up, but it isn't comfortable to sit on.

Plotter will replace the ring mechanism for about $15-32 (depending on size) + $8 shipping, so with heavy wear in a pocket, you can extend the life of your plotter. I personally keep mine in my purse so less of an issue but theres some peace of mind knowing you can replace it

I love plotter and William Hannah. I use the Bible size Plotter and the A5 WH. The WH is still gorgeous as when I first bought it 2-3 years ago. The Plotter size is so portable and I also love the paper.

Yes, love both of them too. I've found that certain pen and ink combos just feel better on one vs the other type of paper, but both are amazing. Thanks!

Yes the slash at the top left is for date "month/day". I write the year on the top right corner. I am sure you could also do "day/year" and then write month to the right. As a guy, I put the notebook in my back pocket with the rings towards the outward side, so when I sit down the rings don't get damaged or dig into me. No pen holder on mine, I keep my pen clipped to my shirt.

Good to know, thanks! I'm curious if the sharp-ish edge of the metal has caused you any issues? I haven't gotten around to grinding it down a bit, but it does catch on the inside of my pocket sometimes.

@@KendallW No issues with the edge. The small plotter I carry in my back jeans pocket with the rings outwards or away from my bottom so I don’t sit down on the rings.

If you have a passport travels, would you mind having a size comparison. I’ve got the travelers passport but on the fence about getting the Mini 5 since they kinda look the same?
@KendallW
@KendallW Жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't have the traveler's passport. But I think it is very close in size to the mini 6, the one I review here. The mini 5 is a lot smaller. I do give measurements in the video at some point that you could use for comparison.

Great video, thank you! And you confirmed the holes for the mini 5 card insert do in fact line up with the rings for the mini, which I had hoped and assumed, but just couldn't find a direct answer to elsewhere.

Yeah, I had a hard time finding certain info as I was hunting things down, so it made sense that I could make the video I was wishing already existed. Thank you so much for the feedback!

Thanks for the video. I just learned about Plotter last night after years of using Field Notes, TN, and now the Lochby Pocket Journal. I like to have a pocket notebook for quick notes during visits with my parishioners, to write down quick TDL's, etc. and use a hardcover BaronFig as my "real notebook" that I transfer daily notes into, but I like the idea of having a never-ending notebook rather than many small ones to keep track of. I wanted to ask you about the moonman VP knockoff and if it is sturdy enough for pocket carry. I've been carrying my Pilot VP in my pocket and the clip just came off, so I'm going to have to look into a warranty repair, and I was thinking of using this clone as a way to carry my VP nib section inside the cheaper body for EDC use. Thanks!

BTW, what is the Lamy 2000 clone? I really like the gold pocket clip (black and gold is my preferred color scheme). Thanks!

I've really enjoyed this pocket notebook, a did a 3-month update video on how it's been going -spoiler alert I still really love it, but don't use it 100% like I thought I would. The Moonman / Majohn A1 is sturdy and has been my go-to for pocket use -I keep it nib up just to be safe. I have heard others using the A1 with a pilot nib and that it works perfectly for exactly that.

I have a video where I go through my whole collection -only 25 or so pens, but still a lot considering I'm just over a year into the hobby.. That is a Jinhao 80, great pen that comes in lots of colorways. I bought 3 since they are so inexpensive, and I wanted to try different Lamy nib sizes, so swapped them with a Medium, Broad, and 1.1 stub. I don't like hooded nibs, so the Lamy 2000 has never been on my list, but these combine the outside look of the 2000 with an uncapped look that I like a lot more. Thank you for watching!

@@KendallW nice! I don't have a lot of experience with Chinese pens, I'll have to try the Jinhao 80 and Moonman A1 to compare with my Lamy 2k and Pilot VP. It's been a few years since I've done any pen research. I tend to spend a week or so reading up on what's out there, buy a few things, and forget about it for a few years while I focus on other hobbies for a while.

Thank you so much! Huge fan of your channel. The paper really is top notch, and worth trying if interested in tear-away pages, but not sure it would hold up for long term cataloguing like you do with Field Notes. Thanks again, looking forward to you next video!

I already have a 6 ring leather binder A5, but needed some small thin notebooks to go in it. This is just what I was looking for but the paper does not like to stay in the notebooks when you start to open them back and forth which does not bother me. They are so easy and clean to tear them out and put them in my binder. Absolutely love the paper it is very smooth, works well with my fountain pens. The leather binders they provide look really nice but the width provided is too small for my liking. I have not been able to find out what gsm the paper is. I have the To Do List and the regular refill. Some of the other options that they offer I am not sure about and may not fit what I need. . It is all about preference. And very versatile. And it looks professional and will be sure to get compliments. These have been out awhile and just now hearing about them.

That's great! Yes, the paper is amazing for how thin it is. I usually prefer thicker paper but I've really enjoyed it. Thanks!
