The main issue is starting points. The starting point is metaphysical. You’re a spirit, which is your space, which then justifies your soul, for you to be an individual, to then inhabit a body. I’ve mentioned before how people completely skip the original science (Astrology) to understand the mind/psyche. Your mind is energy, and as a spirit your observing the mind from a masculine (Adam/Extrovert/Thoughts) & feminine (Eve/Introvert/Feelings) perspective. Jung just remixed Astrology & the 4 elements: Air = Thinking | Fire = Feelings | Water = Intuition | Earth= Sensing. When you incarcerated, you’re born with alignments to which you observe during this lifetime. Depending on your alignments & spiritual path, will justify your experiences & psyche. So if you’re born into a family that toxic, more than likely that’s what you needed to experience in order to understand aspects of yourself. And more than likely that’s part of your natal chart. A lot of people go through the same childhood up bringing but not everyone comes out the same, or the same personality type. So the nurturing concept or theory is invalid & wobbly. Personality types in general are vague, and many either get missed typed or don’t even know anything about MBTI. So the conversation of rarity is bleak. MBTI is still very new to most, and has only been somewhat relevant since the 1920’s. So speaking solely based off statistics, again, there isn’t much to justify specifics, since there’s no real stability or core starting point. And as far as the gene theory, energy is what makes up genes. But everyone individually is going to transmute energy differently based on their spiritual awareness. And if the gene theory was accurate, more than likely the parents would also be the same type. So that’s invalid. It’s a fun conversation, but on a deeper spiritual level it’s redundant & lostness, especially if we’re not looking at people’s natal charts, which reflects (Their Image Of God/The Mind) they’re born with individually.

The mbti type we are born with in this life is determined by how we lived in previous lives. It has to do with our consciousness, our soul you could say

I'm an infj. Observing, listening, caring, analyzing, looking through, past, into, from back to front, or in the here and now, seeing spirit and sensing evil. Everyday for as long as I can remember and I remember being a newborn, being born.

As a parent, I know that children are born already themselves.: infants vary enormously. What parents then do is help or hinder what's dealt. Born introverts are often more watchers than doers, more willing to play by themselves and be alone than other children. Nurturing history may then help determine how, within the introverted character, the different powers are organized. I agree with the poster above who suggests that, in premodern cultures, infjs had an evolutionary purpose. They were likely the witchdoctors, dreamers, story-tellers, shamans, and--with their Fe--sometimes the diplomatic problem solvers within a group. That was useful. Modern secular societies now typically regard religion as minor or something that occurs in a corner, but we should always remember that premodern societies regarded religion as both central and rational/practical -- an explanation for so much could not otherwise be explained -- and so infjs were valuable additions to premodern communities. You wouldn't want too many of them, of course. Too many priests get in the way.

The so called "advantage in evolution" is not about how useful you are for the functioning of society, but how successful you are in attracting and keeping a breeding partner. It's not exactly the successful breeders who are particularly useful or skilled people. Just take a close look at society.

But ENTJ, especially historically and in males, should be highly successful in finding partners and securing resources for their offspring. I'd imagine they'd be the kind who have a harem and a castle in the past. So Renaud's point stands, why are ENTJ rare?

I did not realize this was such a discussion among types. Nature, nurture aspects feels odd when considering. My perspective is we just are, regardless of. Something to think about.
@Brotha-IDAF14 күн бұрын
Intuitively, I suspect that it is likely because the intuitive types are ‘quality over quantity’ types and in general are less likely to have a greater number of children, thus limiting the overall quantity of intuitive types in the general population. Our choices tend to be fairly considered and bringing a child into the world at all is one of the biggest considerations of all. Other types seem to be more quantity over quality types. This is at least one contributing factor, in my opinion.

The collective human civilisation does not need that many infjs. It’s 2025 now but we should also consider societies and social dynamics since the start of civilisation or even before. Infj will see through patterns and be advocating and that could male them the public enemy in some societies. People who live in very rigid Se/Si dominated societies will find it difficult to accept Ni approaches to life. I think INFJs are needed for a healthy kingdom but there will always be a factor of alienation from the world. Maybe Infj will not leave their nest a lot while the Se/Si gang is busy having sex. Infjs being bad at Se makes me think that in nature, it must be difficult to survive as a child. Infjs can do amazing things but need that safe space to actually focus on their Ni. Where I am from, I find almost all the religious figures typed as infjs. Through scriptures, it’s very clear that the religions want to advocate infj way of living. So many figures in art and culture have infjs as either protagonists or narrators or gurus. Maybe there is some genetic factor also. My parents both have N and F. My partner also has N and F. Maybe the “community” aspect makes it so that infjs don’t generally have a lot of children. At least here in the east, I know a lot of Infjs. We need more data about population density according to countries and types. Maybe maybe infj in earlier times just fucks off to mountain in search of meaning leaving society behind. Imagine being the person who sees the enemy kingdom as they are and advocates for peace between kimgdoms. This will for sure get the infj killed for standing against the entj king lol

I think it's mainly about available roles. INFJs are producing meaning. Not a lot of people are needed to produce meaning. Meaning can be easily spread verbally. On the other hand maintaining physical survival and comfort of the community requires constant physical labour. So in a tribe of 100 people, 2-3 INFJs are probably the amount that there are available roles for.

I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the proliferation of certain types in this stage of AI, how frequencies of certain types like SJ’s may be affected as a result of AI if they do that is. I know that’s a rhetorical question but would you agree AI has affected this or the higher or lesser frequency of certain types has affected the frequency of AI, is there a link ?

Interesting. It seems you're diverging from the more or less clearly stated assumption among MBTI students that types are pretty much congenital or inherited. And that while they may develop and elaborate over time, the fundamental type we're born with doesn't change throughout our lives. I tend to agree. However, in all honesty, I only agree because, accepting any other morphology isn't consistent with other aspects of what we know (or assume!) about typology and the Jungian types. In other words, the 'nature' hypothesis raises fundamental issues about to the validity of psychological types at the get go.
@RensRoom12 күн бұрын
It is mainstream, I think, in the current psychological literature to consider that personality arises out of a complex interaction of nature and nurture. I think it is the same with Jungian type.

Do you think types with a dominant judging function (IXxPs and ExxJs) have a natural disadvantage to those why a dominant perceiving function (like INFJs)? I say this because a dominant perceiving function is likely to be better at getting information than the opposite types, and thus can make better judgements.

Here's an interesting point to consider: what if certain types of men, or certain types of thing, can only exist because they are exceptions? I.e. certain things are defined by the fact that they're exceptions from the rule, and therefore they can never be as frequent or as abundant as "the rule"?
@fuzonzord930113 күн бұрын
The thing is that existence of INFJs is a rule. They are one of 16 types of humans. I think it's more that there are only roles available for a limited amounts of INFJs. The basis of society is production of food, tools, comforts, etc. The role of INFJ is creating meaning and caring for broad psychological wellbeing and decency of the society. It's not a role that requires many people.

So very close to stating my thoughts without ever touching the why. Extinction. Evolution has programmed society for expansion, as well as the exclusion of it's reserve capacitance. We've measurable events that have brought our species to the brink. Survival and repopulation are paramount to continuity at that point. Consider the long list of severely detrimental behaviors of infj individuals. Now measure what those characteristics mean to the loosley affiliated tribe. It becomes obvious, in both terms and action, of purpose. The terms of society at scale certainly don't agree with infj intention. Yet, in the microcosm of burgeoning extinction, every trait becomes increasingly valuable to the propagation of otheres' genetics. Not even your own. I find it quite beutiful, the overlap of the, "orchid child" study, and the ratio of intuitive operators. What has also been called, " highly sensitive " are markedly designed for conditions that currently do not exist. Yet, evolution has made certain that the fractional margin necessary for repopulation remain at margin. What's that saying about being well adjusted? The inverse is also correct, in every visible manner. Honestly, I'm quite torn between finding purpose or remaining outcast. What you wish for, eh?

Childhood trauma creates infj. It’s shapes everyone. Some are born extrovert some introverts. Issues like personality disorders also shape the mind. Infj is that rough diamond that comes out at the end of all the trauma and disorder. Life is perspective all perspective

I feel like psychological type is almost like a Gacha Game, where there are different probabilities of drawing by chance when born. I see too many families that are very mixed in type, thus a lot of their functions can’t necessarily be passed down or learned from their immediate family environment. And if you have a different preference than your immediate surroundings, then you will be forced to find someone with similar preferences in order to more fully engage and develop those parts. I feel like my Ne (related skills) didn’t really blossom until university where I could interact with others and learn from them in a Ne-quick witted multiple meaning and pattern way (since there are very few with Ne-preferences in my family). I do think psychological type development does need nurture, but more to nurture what is already there, latent, waiting to be accessed and engaged.
