Hi George, I’m from apart of Australia where we don’t really work too much ground before we sow,(we sow with a direct drill, no till) and I was wondering why you work your ground do much. Also why don’t you run gps in your tractors?? Thanks

Strange that the Plowing went off the straight line? I thought that all modern tractors use GPS guiding and steering that even allow for the type of ground and weather etc.? So really once the settings are done it should do a line no problems. Also to save your neck George, Get a HD all weather camera fitted outside the tractors looking down at the linkage area and working area and have the image sent to a screen in front of you on the windscreen then you can watch the impertinent and work done there facing forwards? Save the neck mate..

Colin Campbell hew was ploughing free hand or without the gps
@Hassle685 жыл бұрын
Don't really plough with a gps as the ground dictates the lines strong ground pushes you out and light land pull you in to depth. So your wheel follows the furrow. When I plough I use a vario width so sometimes I'm lucky I can straighten lines using that. Don't want a rabbit running and breaking a leg on your un straight furrows.
@MrDaChicken5 жыл бұрын
Additionally, going from harder to softer ground pulls the plow around in such a fashion that it's working width changes, on a plow that size, probably as much as 3 or 4 inches. Or more, per pass. So after a few dozen passes through a sticky spot a fair bit of wander can be incurred. It is actually the landslide ( straight vertical piece along the axis of travel) that keeps the plow straight. So when encountering a curvy bit, this gets additionally exaggerated on top of the already stiff ground causing it in the first place. I should imagine that rollover plows would be slightly worse for this, since it inherently has to have a slight bit of play in it, to allow it to roll over. Can't comment on that aspect, never used a rollover. But 17 years of competition plowing and over 10 years on top of that ( for 27 plus years in total of plowing) mean I can see pretty easy how George's work got a little wander in it. No big deal, straighten it up some and carry on. The power harrow is right behind ya George, so all sins will be erased!

Nice one George 👍out of interest, what would you prefer to take out ploughing the fendt or fazzy?
@7810ftw5 жыл бұрын
you dont have to be moving to pulse joystick left for direction change works when your stationary also , not sure why fendt bother with pushing stick forward / backward when stopped

These modern tractors baffle me. Too much going on with buttons, joysticks, screens, graphics and suspension. I have driven a 16plate Fendt and it felt like I was steering a boat down the road and then I was a bit lost on all the controls. Give me old school basic any day.
