Very nicely done. In the mid seventies I assisted my father with commercial snow removal. We did a local factory, a grocery store, church parking lots, and an apartment complex. We’d start at 3am or 4am. I’d pay money to plow with him again, and would likely plow for free just for the memories. Your video and plowing style us much better than many of the others I’ve viewed.

When you’re approaching the end of the windrow and are getting ready to stack-straighten your blade and then raise the plow. -Hydraulic motor should not be energized unless the truck is moving-Keep plowing like this(carefully) and your equipment should last a while ;) The “fast” guys might make fun of you but you’ll still be making money after they catch a curb at 20mph and bend their plow.

I used to plow the largest car dealership lot in my area had over 1000 vehicles on the lot all had to be cleaned then moved then moved back. I hated winter!

That would suck doing all of that. I was asked to give a bid on lawn care for one car dealership and told them that I would not be bidding on it. Cars and trucks parked all over the lawn didn't want to deal with all of that.

I plowed for a major car rental company at Newark Liberty Int'l A/P. we had 1200 cars in our fleet which were usually on rent during the workweek so the lots would be empty. Sometimes though it would snow just as the cars were being returned and on the weekend. Same thing - move the cars, plow, put'em back. The worst was while they were checking in. cars were all over the place and being driven by the customers who did not have a clue what to do so they just stopped and left the car. Many times they took the keys with them. What fun.

I have only plowed with 1500 trucks, they do everything I need them to do. The cameras I use are Canon 800r video camera, GoPro 5 and my Iphone. I buy all of my GoPro's used off of Ebay.

Depending on how old the truck is but a person could easily spend an average of $1000 per year in maintenance. Some years more some years less depending on the amount of snow being pushed. Doesn't matter the kind truck you plow with there will always be maintenance because of plowing is so hard on the front ends of the trucks.

Im just a hour south of you mark and im in the same boat..i plow with a 7.5 straight blade for 12 hours in a half ton truck, 32 drives and im beat..luckly today was a rest day from plowing..and i dont shovel or snowblow..good luck too you brother!

Another good video, I hear you on the getting tired, I do a few lots , a whack of businesses sidewalks and then driveways. So it’s plowing , lots of hand shovelling, and some blowing with my Kubota bx. A good snow and I’m gone 18 hrs. Need a day or two to rest up after that. Any complaints with that plow. I really like it. I have 2000 gmc with a unimount on it . Works well but getting old. Too many relays . Keep up the good work

Five Points Lawn the plow has worked for me well in the last 5 years I have owned it. Just replaced all of the lines this year. Should be good until I sell it with the truck in about 2 years.

Have you ever thought about getting a bigger truck and plowing for the DOT? In my area a lot of people contract with DOT and make quite a bit of money. Of course it depends on how the winter goes since ours varies so much. We may get a little snow, may not get any, or may get multiple snows of up to a foot or more. One local guy has his own Chevy Kodiak with a salter and plow and made $60,000 in one winter plowing for DOT

They don’t hire on outside contractors, they have enough of their own equipment. Wouldn’t have time to plow any more than I have now. I will be getting a bigger truck in a couple of years for a bigger plow but it will be a 3/4 ton truck to handle a wide out plow.

Very good video. The half ton truck does the job. I was wondering if your replacing your truck every four years, why not buy a Chevy half ton work truck regular cab to keep the cost down ?

I need an extended cab to carry everything I need during the day. It is my portable office as well as extra clothes food and beverages. The back seat is always full. With the amount of hours I spend in that truck I want it to be as comfortable as possible and a work truck is not that comfortable.

Do you lease or just trade in your trucks. This truck looks great! Nice to see someone in a 1500. Everyone says to get a 2500, but the prices of trucks today are nuts!

I lease my trucks, but because I put a plow on it I can't turn it in and have to buy it at the end. Then I use them 1 more year and sell them. Can't lease a 2500 so it has to be bought at 60k. Just a little to high of price for me. I have been hearing that Ford will let you lease a F250 not sure on that yet. Will be checking them out next year.

U can get a 2500 gas truck for around 45k. Much better plowing with a heavier duty truck

Marks Misfit World You can lease a Ford 250/350 through Ally Bank (Ally Smart Lease) not through Ford directly, residuals are pretty good but the rates are on the high side...Easiest way to lease an HD truck

I know a buddy that had a new chev all lined up just had to sign the papers , he mentioned the word plow and the salesman said warranty was void if he put a plow on it .. He got up and walked out the door across the street and got a tundra, toyota said a plow was no problem ..

Yeah, warranty is void on Chevy, GMC and Ford. No Toyota dealership within 2 hours of me. I use GM trucks because I get a family discount because of family members working for GM.

warranty would ONLY be void if the part failure was due to the plow i.e the rear end blew up, it could be argued the plowing did it....but if a window motor went out or the radio took a shit, they’d have to prove it was due to the plow....Magnusson Moss Act 👍🏻

When it comes time for a new Plow you might want to look at a v- Plow . They are actually easier on the truck and save a ton of time. Boss makes one for the half ton .

I looked at the V plow for the half ton this year is has pretty short blade and it does weigh about 400 lbs. I have been talking with a lot of other that are plowing with the wide out plows and they are liking them better that the V plow. But if I went that direction I would need a 3/4 ton truck to handle the weight. I have about 2 years to make up my mind when I get a new truck and plow.

I use the plows for 2 trucks. This plow is on the second truck. I will be selling both in about 2 years. That puts the plow at about 8 years old.

Yes it would. I live in Utah and lately this winter hasn't been very good as far as staying cold. However the snow is crazy. I'm in a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 and my truck plows deep heavy wet snow just fine.

There really is no ideal speed for plowing. I don't even know how fast I am going never look at the speed. If plowing a large parking l think I am doing about 15 mph.

No All you will do is beat shut out of the truck Damage the truck and it will be a big waste of Money. Your best bet is to go and find yourself a 3/4 ton truck or bigger and plow with that.
