All of our toys came to us in the same way. Sitting, neglected and in need of carb work. My boys and i work through them just like you. Most recently we got a one year old 120 CC Chinese four Wheeler totally free. Bought for Christmas last year driven until the carb plugged up and then sat. I once had a really nice XR 200 that got rockers, jug, rings. But you know as well as I do just clean the carburetor and/or replace you yes usually a couple of other small things and cool toys for cheap. Appreciate watching what you do give me motivation to go out and work at the end of every video.

You ALWAYS need to clean the needle seat on the carb when doing a carb clean. Use a Q-tip in a drill and coat it with an abrasive toothpaste like ultrabrite or closeup and flush paste out completely. You have had gas leaks often after “cleaning” the carb and it is NOT due to float height issues.
@fairchaseoutdoors41812 жыл бұрын
Amen! Had that very problem with mine. Cleaned the needle seat and it solved my issues.
@quacksmack7449 Жыл бұрын
absolutely. Had a friend "recommend" some fool mechanic, for an outboard tune up. I could have done it better myself, turns out the leakage was traced to him not doing that as well. Such a simple 10 second fix. Cost me 250 to have that done :(

That plow is a great brand. I have one like it with 15 years of hard abuse and it still works great.
@markalan40262 жыл бұрын
Yes, that plow is supposed to have trip springs. With springs if you hit something solid the blade will collapse forward, that way you don't go sailing over the handlebars and/or damage your frame. The plow looks like a smaller Cycle County, do a web search for this brand of plow, you should be able to easily find the replacement springs, and anything else you may need for it.
@2vintage2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I ended up getting some new replacement springs! They work great!

@NilsKall2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Good video and an absolute great deal on that ATV. When I got my Honda Rancher 350 last year it had been sitting and had a similar problem of not getting fuel from the gas tank. I “fixed” it in a similar fashion like you with compressed air. However, the fault came back and the carb even clogged up. The problem was that the internal fuel filter had been dissolved by the fuel when it was sitting and the rest of the filter kept clogging up the fuel line. I solved it by removing the fuel shut of valve, clean the tank internally, remove all residue of the old filter, then reassembled and added a inline filter. That finally worked and this summer I got a new fuel shut of switch with a new filter so everything is back the way it is supposed to. Since you had some dirt between your float needle and seat, I think you should check the status of that filter or at least put a inline filter between the tank and carb. Best Regards Nils from Sweden.

You have to be super careful with taking the choke cable out of the carb. The break really easy when they’ve sat forever. I broke ours while taking the carb apart. They’re very easy to find though. You also have to be careful with the primer pump on the carb. Ours started leaking after I cleaned the whole carb. They’re also very easy to find. It’s all better now though.
@danielfilion2252 жыл бұрын
Great job on that quad it looks like new again . I've been plowing with an ATV since 1986 . I started with a Big Red then moved up to a Yamaha Kodiak now I have Wolverine side by side. I built my own plows "too cheap to buy one" and those two chains on the plow should be replaced by springs. The springs are there to let the plow tilt forward when it hits a hard object . This will prevent the driver from being thrown over the handlebars or cause damage to the ATV.

We have 2, a 99 es that no longer runs but has 9000+ miles and I still have the 03 es and it has 11,500 miles on it and it’s still going. $900 was a great price for a machine that you can hear the engine run. I paid $500 a few weeks back for a 2004 Foreman 450 with the engine locked. It had locked the piston on the wrist pin due to low oil. I got it broke down, and the top end rebuilt and it runs good now, but I am a little over $900 into it now. These old machines are tough as nails. Nice score!

I just can't bring myself to part with it though since I have put so much time and effort into it.

Bad part about those front drum brakes is they like to fill with water, mud and gunk which in turn makes them freeze up. Especially when plowing in winter. Just have to bring inside between use and let brakes thaw. Can spend some money on a disc brake conversion which eliminates much of the repeat issues.
