The skidsteer and telehandler were not going fast enough. It was cold and we needed to get done, so we brought in the John Deere S690 with a 45ft draper head to speed up the process.

I think this is a first for plowing snow with a Bean Head and combine. I must say it was very creative. Enjoyed the footage of the small Black dog trying to get through the high snow.

If that draper head is really toast, make a 45' snow pusher out of it using the parts. Good winter project. You could add spikes at an angle backwards to help minimize the push back from the snow.

Just outta curiosity why not just use the small baler to bail then? Wouldn't it be more efficient to just bale however many small bales you need?
@shannonp40373 жыл бұрын
@@joshuawheaton622 There was a study done that small bales were more expensive per pound/ton than large bales. Recently a small bale was 237, Large bale was 218 and large round 154 per ton. It was found that the time and energy to take a large round down to multiple small bales was cheaper than buying small bales.

We had a guy come late at night with a combine snow blower when I was a kid and we were snowed in. He had to come real late because it took up both lanes of the highway (shoulders too deep & drifted too). One pass & he was done. It threw snow easily 30 ft or more.

Big snow blower on one of your MFD Deere's with the IVT transmissions....its the cats meow for moving snow. We've been using a IVT for 10 years on the blower, they will set there own ground speed automatically by how hard the snow blower pulls the engine down...

Steffen systems makes bale conversion machines that can reduce your power requirements to one engine and manpower to one person. My brother has a system in a building that’s been going for over 20 years. Less loss then a re bale set up.

@@FarmingInsider yes definitely a large investment. Like you said, the smaller bales brings more money but the larger bales allows you to bale and put away a large amount during the hay making season. He sells his hay by the ton, since with the bale conversion the bales end up very heavy. It’s amazing watching the power of hydraulics push bales through a 1” piece of metal with a sharp edge and cut.

Good video.What do you think a small square bale of top quality, second cut,orchard grass is worth?
@FarmingInsider3 жыл бұрын
That’s will vary exceptionally by region for sure but if it’s really top quality $9-10

This is a helpful and positive comment as friends and family most likely don’t want to discourage you. You said a quick look and you were right, hardly saw any equipment or plowing but a lot of the cameraman and others. You have the opportunity to be very successful with a little more effort and we hope that you are. Take a peek at Jesse Mueller and Andrew Camarata for an example of very successful KZbinrs. You can be just as successful by keeping the camera facing forward. Good luck. You can now delete this suggestion to quicker success as you will hopefully apply some of it. Hope to see more videos.

I don't have any extensive experience in your industry but have often wondered why you don't fabricate large snow pushers. They make them for the pickup trucks and other loaders so why not fabricate one for your machine? If I were to fabricate one I would put some hydraulics on the ends to be able to expand or collapse the full width...
