Brilliant job. Thoroughly enjoyed the story line and music. I have a question to ask. My house has the pump in the return pipe just before the oil fired reillo boiler. Why is that. Should it not be in the Flow pipe after the boiler ??
@gtfg38004 жыл бұрын
Pumps are typically located on the return side partly to keep them running cooler.

Thoughts on rotating pump head so they’re vertical and all same way (not flow direction, just impeller head)? Don’t see it done very often, seems no reason not too, except time and looks “nice”...
@martinburke828821 күн бұрын
I fitted one of these pumps. When I first turn on the pump, the flow rate seems fine for a few mins. Then it drops off almost completely. Not sure if this a pump issue. Really struggling to figure it out. I feel like it is something obvious I am missing. Its a gravity fed system and is quite old. Any advise would be appreciated

Should have rotated the front side of the pump 90 degrees clockwise by unscrewing and then screwing back the 4 hex screws so it to be upright! Good music in the video!

Great video ive never touched anything plumbing wise besides changing the whole drain and plug system in a bath and that was a absolute ball ache. So basically the heaters have now stopped working at my mums and it winter time.. lovely stuff. The hot water is working so its not the boiler. The brass valve things you was turning, one of them has some sort of sediment popping out the top of it like white powder rust looking thing. Basically the heaters aint working but there is hot water. What should i do do? Cheers mate

Hi James, what do you advise about pump orientation? I'm sure (?) that the blurb that came with my pump said it should be in a vertical run of pipe.. but in this video, the pump is in a horizontal run of pipe, which you don't mention, so I guess is perfectly ok? Also the pump body itself, should it be horizontal, or canted slightly down from the pipe so that air stays in the pipe rather than collect in the pump, or conversely, should it be canted slightly UP from the pipe, to encourage air to collect so it can be bled through the pump bleed? Me is confused innit! 🙂 Help 🥴

always a good watch mate, Question for you, I have a vaillant ecomax 824/2e boiler. and I removed the silver screw (boiler was switched off and electronically isolated) but water kept coming out slowly. videos I have seen in the past showed a small amount of water then it stopped. should I have isolated and released the pressure or should the pump be isolated normally when the boiler is not in use? sorry mate long winded question.

Nishnu TV Adjustable- Do risk rusting but not if looked after. As a physicist & engineer it's all about torque and equally he should have lubed the rubber seals to prevent/ minimise tearing/ degradation of the rubber on the mating faces. But interestingly I think he won't talk electrics just in case he wires it incorrectly.

Does anyone here know if, generally speaking, with these new inverter Wilos, can or should you install a thermostat next to it on to the pipe so that pump turns on only after water heats up at say 40C or is it ok not to install thermostat. My old 15 yrs old wilo had an external 3rd party thermostat, but am hoping new wilos don't need it. Comments?

imagine putting a pump wrong way round without even realizing it, AND leaving it in that position for a WHOLE season and wondering why the heck some rads are always cold and the firewood boiler is always "crying", in the process adjusting the shitload of times the chimney static pressure, TRVs etc until realizing to check the pump. Yep. Was there, done that. Now I learn from my mistake XD

I have a lot of clicking in our pipes, from what I have read on the internet this could be air in the pipes and/or the pipes expanding and contracting. The clicking happens as soon as the heating comes on so seems to quick for it to expanding or contracting? Could this pump help with eliminating some of the clicking?

If only the plumber who fitted the system in my house, hadn't fitted the pump above the boiler, and directly above and very tight to the expansion vessel tank, close to the ceiling and vertically (the pump), not horizontally! Why he couldn't have put it upstairs in the airing cupboard!? I need to change my pump, but its in a helluva tight space.
