I'm getting mixed messages, can a shower mixer bar allow back pressure? I have 8 bar mains cold and an unvented hw cylinder set to 3 bar. Could this cause the cylinder to over pressurise?
@billybobjones431724 күн бұрын
I have no clue as to why you would put an external Mixer when you had access to the cavity and had to do the piping any way, seems like a waste of money to me as the mixer adaptor is far more expensive then a normal wall mounted internal based mixer, it also looks far more professional and doesn't stand out so far from the wall, also less to clean. Probably the dumbest plumber video I have ever seen and I have seen many thanks to youtube.

"anti scald tech" aka they routed internal channels for the cold water to go around the entire body to make sure the hot water flowing through doesn't make the whole thing hot like it usually do. Tricky bit that.

Is there a regulation how high the valves got to be in the bath or shower? Is there a height regulation?
@dimitar4y2 жыл бұрын
The best part about these is that they use ceramic valves, which means easy 15+ years use and abuse and it won't wear out. Unless you got some real nasty super hard water that limescales the valves to death within the first month.

Any reason to use soldered elbows and not just bend the pipe 90"? Seems like one set of possible failing joints could be avoided there? (Only asking cos i cant solder really😂)
@danharper75606 ай бұрын
An elbow will sit much tighter when you have limited space, ie chased in to block / brick. 90 bend would be fine if going in. to stud wall. @KTMSparky

I really like your tutorial on this installation! Top notch! From the US here. I just packed my shower kit on the plane to get it home. I will say that all the reviews I see here in the US for this style shower, are either 5 star or really low rated. As I read through people's comments on their reviews, it's obvious, the people giving low ratings, simply don't know what they're doing. I'll admit that it took me quite a bit of research to come to the right understanding. Of course, this video is the next level installation. Keep in mind 1/2 inch copper is not the same around the world. UK 1/2" copper is 15mm OD. Irish 1/2" copper is 14.6mm. US 1/2" copper pipe is 16.4mm. I might not be exact, but from smallest to largest, it goes: Irish, UK, US. You must match the connector to the pipe you're using, or visa versa. I just brought home a meter of the proper sized copper pipe, figuring that I'll definitely have the right sized copper for the compression fitting on the valve connector, and I'll figure out how to adapt a US water line to that copper.
@Rich1710907 ай бұрын
Could you do this with speedfit piping? Thats all I have in my house, no copper. If not could i use copper for the mixer then attach the coller to the speed fit? Thanks

We have a dilemma. We had a "friend of the family" put shower panels in and shower, so it's safe to say he messed it up. After a lot of stress, me and the Mrs took it all part, cleaned it all, put it all back and then hit a big problem. We have no nice bit of wood to drill into for the mixer. All we have to mount the BSP valve holders is the shower panel, plasterboard, and a bit of thin plywood.

Hi James! Thanks for this video! I've gone and bought one of these based on this. Quick question though, you mention in your description that this shower is good for low, medium and high water pressure. In the blurb of the product on VitrAs website they mention 0.4 - 1bar. My property water pressure is around 2 bar, and I run a combi boiler. Do I need anything else so I don't break the shower when I come to fit it? Cheers!

i wonder if they have an "insert" or it's cast bronze with cast channels inside. Cooling it with the cold feed like a combustion engine (what the cars use). Considering it's all round, they could easily have an insert so they can heat insulate the hot feed in. or.. There's a lot of things they could've done TAKE IT APART, LET US SEEEEE
