I wish I could see the first part of the missing video where you remove the pedestal of the sink without removing the sink. It might be as simple as propping it up and twisting it out, but this is what I need to do to follow the rest of your vid.

I have that kind of bathroom sink. I dropped my necklace by accident and it’s in the drain. I tried to retrieve it but very difficult to access the pipe. Whoever invented this kind of sink is so inconsiderate and wasn’t thinking very well the accessibility of common sink mishaps!Now i am here You Tubing and I found your video. Thank you

thank you so much your video was so helpful it saved me a whole lot of money. As I watched you take apart the pedestal sink i realized there was a plastic washer in the area near the pop up drain that needed to be tightened now my drain doesn"t leak thanks, thanks!!!!!

I'm no plumber, but I installed a pedestal sink for my mother years ago. There is absolutely no room inside the pedestal to turn a pipe wrench, or a pair of Cannellock pliers. Obviously, the engineers who design these sinks never work on them.

Hi Steve , yep pedestals = pain in the arse to work on , i always try to pull them out and prop the basin with a length of 1" x 2" , makes working on them a bit easier as long as the basin is fixed good to the wall.......! Keep up the good work buddy........ : )

As of 10 minutes ago, I used to think pedestal sinks were cool. Now I'm dreading having a plumbing issue. I can hear the plumber now. "Imma have to charge you extra for having a pedestal sink". 😂😂

How did you remove the bottom part while leaving the top part connected to the wall? I have to change out the pop up assembly. I much rather do it your way.

LOL! I'm here looking for the same thing. I'm guessing they're not attached and you can scoot it out. I just did it. Put on gloves and get a good grip on the openings in the back and just pull. Pulling straight out has the most friction, so I pulled on one side more than the other, then after it moves, I would pull the other side to keep things even. You get less friction this way.
@philkingmke3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, its not attached to anything. The only thing holding it in place is the sink...which is bolted into the wall and, if anchored properly, will be able to hang just fine without the base. So, just lift up gently and pull the base out.

S Sam i hate pedestal sinks always have you can not see behind that leg
@SteveSam6610 жыл бұрын
I made a simple adjustable rod that basically takes the place of the leg that supports the sink. ( aluminum pipe and threaded rod with 2 rubber ends to prevent damage and slippage.)

Those sinks bring bad memories! I remember them things in my times, in my areas sliding side to side, probably cause they where installed wrong! See I was short, I had to Lean on things. I remember going to a Christmas party, I had go do a #2 really bad... the party was in an old basement and the Flipping Toilet and Tank where nowhere near eachother! The toilet was far down on the floor and I had to keep jumping to pull on a chain, yea a chain... the flipping tank was near the damn ceiling! WTF!!!! Big round pipe down the middle connected the two together, well I jumped grabbed on the chain and down came the chain, tank, ceiling and a shit load of water!!! The worst thing I ever saw man!
@TheChipmunk200810 жыл бұрын
leanorlando OMG I laughed out loud. The separate high level tank/pipe to normal toilet were quite common here in the UK... usually with a 2" pipe connecting them, but.. LMAO @ the mental image of you stood there in a puddle of water, holding the chain going 'wtf'

John Wilson i always a small screw driver to get the pieces out ,use what ever works for you ,,in my experience its usally not that hard to get the piece out its pretty thin at this point ,but sometimes there are a fue piece that are stubion to get out ,you might have to work at it

My first pedestal sink anything; she bought a new one. "Install it." well. No stud in wall to auger screw it to. Anchor clips were a joke, the china where the clips lined up was mal-formed too much to fit behind anchor plates and stay. The upright wanted anchors through the tile floor. Waste arm wrong height. Yeah. My first pedestal sink - and I hate them still to this day, each and every one of them in their own special way...probably 150 pedestal sinks later.

Just as bad as a pedestal is a wallmount sink with a ceramic cover over the drain pipe to hide it. Removing the 3 bolts and getting the cover out without busting is enough a pain, putting those things back together is even worse.

I ran across your video while trying to find out if you could move the pedestal to see what you are doing with the drain assembly. Now I know why you guys hate them so much., I can't see even sitting with my back against the wall. I had a clog and took the pieces out to clean and get the gunk out. Yes I have girls and it was hair that looked like a big rat. Lol Anyway, when I put the rod with the ball back in and screwed it back together ( my sink had a plastic piece that has tabs to grasp while doing this) it leaked. The washer looked perfectly fine. What could be the problem? I have the plastic piece as tight as I can get without messing it up. any suggestions would be great. My landlady hates it when we have to call her guy out so that is why I did it myself after watching someone's video.
@stevenlavimoniere9 жыл бұрын
Kathy Morris hard to say over a email how to fix a drain leak on a pedistal sink with out being these and seeing it in person best to call a plumber in on this one .a water leak can make a big mess .pedistals are hard tp work on getting the wrench in there to tighten this up is almost imposable,and then you can not see what your doing sometimes a small miror can help to see were the leak is coming from
