Hi James, im really enjoying your posts here and especially atm as i have been forced into fixing many things that i normally wouldnt attempt but ive got a bit more confidence now to try and tackle all my plumbing issues i hope... so many thanks and by the way, while im just draining a rad to try and fix a leak, ive been cleaning the fins as you recommended doing and remembered doing this once in a house i bought, simply because painting behind it in situ was impossible as it was so dirty with soot and cobwebs etc, you couldnt even see daylight inside and afterwards, i could not believe how much more heat i was suddenly now getting as a result, pretty spectacular! Just one thought, i think you used a feather duster and vacuum device in the video james, i have been trying out a discarded soft dressing gown belt and cut a vertical slit near one end and popped in a weight taken from the bottom of some old heavy curtains ( sometimes found sewn inside hems - to hang better), works a treat plus you can do all middle section in one go which saves some time but i agree, its a no- brainer must do task. Cheers buddy!

Nicely explained dude. Worth noting that not all base units have backs thick enough to fix pipework to though. I prefer to have pipes coming in from the back to prevent losing anything down holes in the base of the cabinet....

Nice neat job. The only thing is (here he goes!!) I always chuck the waste kit away and fit two seperate p traps. I do this because the trap is there to create a seal and stop the drain odour coming back up through the waste pipes. With the waste kit, there is a reasonable amount of pipework before the water seal and I've found this can eventually lead to waste build up in that section of pipework and odour escaping into the kitchen.

Just a quick question regarding the washing machine drainage. I notice that the drainage pipe that the washing machine drainage hose is going to be connected to is practically horizontal to the drainage pipe for the sink. Does this mean that when the sink is emptied suddenly and all the water rushes away that some of it will go up that left hand drainage pipe and down the washing machine drainage hose into the washing machine just from the force of the water rushing down from the sink hole if you get what I mean.
@martin79-g7z

Went to a house to attend a dishwasher malfunction recently where there was a new kitchen install. The waste water from the sink etc goes out through the wall. But its done such that the pipe into the wall is much higher than usual, in this case so that the U trap and nearly all pipework including the dishwasher and washing machine couplings are constantly immersed in water, cos the outflow pipe through the wall is higher. Is this a problem?, and is it against uk regs?.

I'm not an expert, but for the feed to "the rest of the house", which would include the boiler, bathroom, etc., isn't 15mm too small? Even if you are employing an attic tank, I would have thought 22mm is best practice. Tell me if I'm wrong please.

im not sure what code is in the UK but in canada the trap you installed would basically be called an "S" trap. here we need the venting to be above the trap not below. Do you ever find that the ptrap self siphons on that particular set up? '
