So if u multiply negative with itself, it just means u went to the negative part and came back again to where u started, and multiplying 2 negative numbers just becomes positive because of this reason.

Here's the geometric proof: A square in it's most basic sense is a measure of the area enclosed with 2 equally sized sides right.
