Great work! I just did the front bumper on my '74 Plymouth Valiant. Rear bumper next. 100 lbs off the extreme front and back of the car for a couple hours of work is a win.

Great job it definitely looks much cleaner and better with the way you did it. I’ve been thinking of ways to reduce weight on my Duster without really hacking into the body or car itself and this helped with that immensely 👍👍

Dude!! Nice work... super cool idea... never thought about the newer models having more Bump in the bumper.. Always thought they were heavy cause you lifted the Car with them... in case you don't Own one.. yes Factory jack is the same style you see on Those,, I bought every accessory that goes on my Jeep .. ever seen them Super Long Jacks mounted to the hood, side, roof, etc.. well Mopar use these also.. you grabbed the Bumper and lifted the rear or front! My 68 jack still works No I've never tried it.. peace .. Keep at it..

Thanks for sharing. I actually do have the factory Jack. I had no idea why it was so huge. Makes sense if it was intended to lift from bumper height. Every car that I have ever driven(1984+) has always had a jack for lifting on the side. Now I know 😀.

Do you know if I can do this without a welder, like using bolts or something, keep it from moving ? You have the look of the bumper I want, but I don't have a welder.

Hi 74DusterX, thanks for the comment. You can definitely get almost the same look without the welder. The only part that was welded was the shock cylinder that was cut. If you did everything else you would still get most of the weight savings but the bumped will stick out just a little further from the body of the car. Removing the rubber bumpers is the easiest way to look better in my opinion. Then if you start chopping internal bracket you can cut a bunch of weight if you want. Good Luck!!
