Plymouth to Penzance with 50019 "Ramillies" - 1985

Something different this time from my Archive VHS files. This was filmed in 1985 on the 1340 train from Plymouth to Penzance. I hope you enjoy watching and hearing the sound of the class 50 at the head of the train.

Absolutely wonderful footage Roy. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Your brilliant filming certainly captures this gruelling and challenging line through cornwall, for the locomotives and crews alike. Awesome. The last time I did that run was behind a `52 in 1974 from Exeter........I recall every detail, returning early evening behind a Peak !

Just watching this and it brings back memories of things we all used to take for granted. I'm glad someone actually took the trouble to video it and you have edited the journey well. You have, however, put a caption on there about the train leaving Liskeard although it was actually leaving Bodmin Parkway.

Loved the 50s I remember travelling on the Cornish Riviera non stop from Exeter to Paddington behind one several times

Looks like it was in summer. My first summer after leaving school. I grew up in St Austell, nice to see a clip of the station there, before they filled in the bay road where they used to put the Motorail service
