Another gem Roy. Hard to believe the 58s are gone as are MGR trains. I remember the 58s being built and I once saw all 50 on a single day visiting about 10 depots in the car including Shirebook

Reminds me of a day bunked from school in 1983, Reading to Sheffield, 2p bus to Tinsley then on to Shirebrook! Excellent, thanks for sharing 👍

Hello Roy, I'm never one to leave a comment on every video I watch but these remind me so much of my train spotting days. Being a lad of this area it's so sad to see how the traffic has demised over the years. Nowadays I feel like I never spent enough time wandering around places like Shirebrook, Clay Cross junc, Westhouses, Tibshelf sidings etc; should have taken far more photos and notes! This is an excellent video and many thanks for sharing.......now whereabouts is my camera and note book?

Thanks for posting. Brilliant footage and a joy to watch the different type of freight trains. Superb close ups of Class 58s and different liveries as well! The beat video this year so far.

Used to love that spot at Clay Cross , sadly fenced off years ago.

I have not been there for years Phil so was not aware that it had been fenced off, but not at all surprised.

Another great trip down memory lane Roy. Loved all the mainline action. The close ups of the Class 58s were superb, and great shots of loco movements at the junction. Thank you. Vivian.

The train at 4:06 really bounces around when riding along the track. I wonder if the driver nicknamed it Zebedee?

Thank you for this excellent video-why were 1980s built class 58s withdrawn with relatively little mileage/wear?

Good question!

They were taken over by Americans who, hating everything British, immediately bought huge numbers of EMD locos

Did 56110 SPAD the shuntlight?
@AndreiTupolev4 жыл бұрын
I think the ground disc is for crossover moves, as that was setting back on the main it was probably hand signalled
@vincitveritas38723 жыл бұрын
@@AndreiTupolev I guess there would be a 'limit of shunt' in place to allow those movements.
