How well I remember the cry of “STREAK❗️❗️” on Doncaster station cattle dock 70 years ago. I used to be taken by my older brother trainspotting on the way home from School which was very close by. The Streak’s whistle was very distinctive and made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Happy days😁.

Glad to see an A4 back in service! I haven’t seen 60007 in 3 years and even then she was in bits. SNG is my favourite A4, as I have fond memories of riding behind her on the NYMR when I was younger. Plus she was blue, which was a bonus for me!

@@owensmith7530 I dont think theres a problem with Bittern preventing an overhaul, just cost and time. Edit2: Actually apparently the One:one collection is owned by Bitterns owner lol.

Remember seeing number 7 back in the early 1960’s when I was a spotter at Welwyn North station. Over time I saw all of the A4 locomotives apart from 60004 William Whitelaw (never came south). I can still remember the A4’s chime as it came out of the Tunnel at Welwyn. Most of the A4’s were doing 80+ when they went through. Still have a soft spot for 9f’s pulling heavy freight. Saw all the Deltic’s they made a wonderful sound at full pelt.

I didn't think the sound was very good, I have listened to every A4 at speed and with max load [war baby/train spotter/York] and they never had that escape of steam from the left front cylinder. Sounded like a leak, definitely not a normal 3 cylinder sound at all. Good to have 'her' back.
