Great breakdown of the gears, brake and hydraulics. Astounding how much detail is covered in the PMDG 777. Cant wait to get this in my hangar and hopefully the MAX in the near future as well

@@A330Driverthe 737 is missing a lot of improvements they’ve made in the 777, obviously the 737 systems differ, but things like tire and brake wear and overheating apply to both. I do believe PMDG stated they will include these updates in the 737 after they get the 777 released to bring both platforms to their current standards of the simulation.

@@DanielDuhon The optics of the brake and tire wear are missing in the 737, but system wise it's all there already. I don't think I ever saw glowing brakes on a 737 though. Must be more of a 777 thing.

I really hope they don't abandon the 737 and still work on it. Allow us to open the door, windows in the cockpit and update the passenger cabin like how it is in their 777. (I know its apparently in the works). It also looks like the 777 has the default MSFS weather radar, so might as well add it to the 737 as well. Thank you for this preview btw, can't wait to see more!

I would love to see a good 3rd party app that simulates working for an airline. This could then interface with airplanes like this where when I'm not playing, the aircraft is not just sitting there on the tarmac but being flown by other AI pilots and accumulating service hours. So when we do a walk around we have to really check on the walk as well as the log book to ensure we got the plane in good condition. There could also be mistakes made by the AI pilots before handover that we can lookout for.

Does the United livery simulate the loss of a wheel? On a more serious note, does a failure of the centre (i think it is the centre if memory is correct) hydraulic system result in the bogeys not tilting and if so is the usual “harder”touchdown simulated? Would be interesting to fail they hyd system and see what the gear looks like after alternate extension. If you look at a video of the recent 777 return to Sydney after the hydraulic leak you will see the landing with alternate gear extended with no tilt

How do you ensure that your use of the aicraft is recorded in the sim? I ve never had to do any maintenance on the 737 even though I have failures enabled. Is the wear linked to each individual livery you have installed?

In the original post it was mentioned that the optimal brake temp was 700°C, stressing that hot brakes are not ineffective... That seems very counterintuitive to me tbh. Can you explain this further?
@A330Driver
@A330Driver 6 ай бұрын
Hi, I think you misunderstood that part. Carbon brakes initially get more effective as they heat up, but there is a temperature above which they will quickly loose their effectiveness again. That temperature is around 700°C in the 777. Make them hotter and they'll become weaker. And latest when the fuse plugs melt your brakes will be useless anyway ;-) I agree that this could have been written a little better in the original statement though, that's why I re-phrased it in the video.

Impressive stuff, both IRL and from PMDG. Question: How have PMDG implemented failures and wear from session to session? Are they tied to a particular aircraft registration number? It would be nice to simulate how a real airline pilot would be flying different planes on each flight, and they would have to assess the level of wear on the walk around, which could be different each time, and they then have to look in the tech log to see what's broken and see if they are safe to fly or not, by comparing against the Minimum Equipment List.

Nice, great video. I have a question here. Is the wear and tear specific to the livery or just to the aircraft? So if I fly UAL for a few hours and then switch to KLM, do I have a completely "new" aircraft again or is the wear and tear saved and carried over?

Thank you very much! If you take the time to learn the normal operating procedures, and have your service based failures turned off, the system complexity should not be a problem. Most of it is handelled by the aircrafts automation. You may hear sounds or see some things without knowing why they happen, but generally they should work without much pilot input unless non normal situations happen. Boeing designed a superb plane here!

@@A330Driver As a retired airline pilot I am used to having a decent working knowledge of how things work. I’m really only interested in what may affect the pilots, and also not too bothered about complicated failures. I managed to avoid them during my career so why start now !? 😊 Right now my sim has started stuttering badly, so I’m desperate to get that sorted before the 777 arrives! There’s always something! 🤔

I still don’t get why PMDG insist on doing all kinds of configuration/failure stuff on the FMGC instead of the way more sensible place these belong to which is the EFB.
@A330Driver
@A330Driver 6 ай бұрын
Because at the time those features were designed, EFBs were not a thing in the FS community. I recall the first PMDG aircraft to have this was the 737 NGX, released in 2011 for FSX. EFBs only became a thing around five years later. Of course they could move all of that over now - and I'm sure they will in the future - but that would be another 3 month delay. I think that's very well something that can be done in the future and shouldn't hold up a release.
@pieterduplessis6906
@pieterduplessis6906 6 ай бұрын
again with the efb ???? there is no rule that says it HAS to be the EFB. geez. talk about being completely is analysis paralysis.
@Angel33Demon666
@Angel33Demon666 6 ай бұрын
@@pieterduplessis6906 The EFB is a vastly better medium to handle failures/configurations since the GUI allows for so much more to be shown. Further, there is really not much that the FMGC has to do with failures/configurations-you can’t fail a hydraulic system from the FMGC in the real plane for example. While the EFB is basically the perfect place to handle all the things which don’t belong in the airplane proper because it’s literally not part of the airplane. All the stuff about pushback, loading, performance calculations, failures, configurations, and doors etc should all go there because they’re not part of any real life aircraft’s FMGC.
