Simbrief like IRL flight planning software, struggles with sensible ETOPS scenarios. Probally the toughest part to teach the community. Also tough to teach company/country specific regulations as well. Things like Canadian domestic airspace being benign for the purposes of ETOPS for Canadian operators, weather requirements etc. Your experience operating ETOPS IRL shines though here. Bravo. Message me if you want to expand on this together for your viewers in the future.

And that blue-dashed circle is not enroute alternate indeed. It is typically called Fuel Enroute Alternate. I don't know why SimBrief calls it like that. You already picked your enroute alternates both ETOPS (entry-exit) and non-etops circles which serve 60-minute range flights from one equal time point to another.

Hey emmanuel ! As a french, I've some information for you ! Since the overseas regions are part of France, AirFrance has a public mission of transporting people in and out of those islands. But the airline also has a lot of cargo ops during those flights, since a lot of things are imported from the mainland (blood, tires etc...). Since the AirFrance Cargo's 777 dont operate those flights, the cargo is loaded in Orly or CDG in the classic 777 with pax so you actually may expect a bug cargoload, even tho it wont be sometimes as much as what the swiss are carrying towards SFO ahah

I have two things I’d like to see in further videos which are flight planning to take advantage of/avoid jet streams and winds. Simbrief’s routing doesn’t take into account the winds when the flight happens (with regard to lateral routing-it does with vertical), dispatchers frequently change their routing to either fly with or avoid the jet stream. How would one do that without actually studying all the winds and making a ton of routes and comparing them? The second thing is when you can use random routes rather than the NATTRACKS, I’ve read that your flight plans are more prone to delays/getting rerouted if you don’t use the nattracks and instead create a random route, so what considerations are there to decide whether or not to use them?

That was interesting... so if you as a passenger end up on a long-haul flight where there are only a few passengers with a tight schedule to the next flight, it might be more cost effective for the airliner to fly slower and risk the few missing their connection than to fly with a higher cost index to make sure they make it?

That's a calculation that an airline would surely run in the background... but typically you wouldn't fly slower than your standard cost index ECON speed.

Hi, while PFPX does offer some more features than simBrief, I really do not see the need to pay that extra money. Unless you are a certified dispatcher or airline pilot and really know what to do with all those extra features, I do not see much sense in using PFPX over simBrief. And even if you are, simBrief still provides more accurate flight plan layouts, Significant Weather Charts, etc. which PFPX can not provide.

@@A330Driver First I just want to make sure I wasn’t complaining what so ever the price is needed for a great add-on like this, and I’ve been saving for it for 2 or 3 months now so that I can get it, and I’m sure it will be well worth my money 😁.

@@madsib5187 The challenge is to flare at the right point - it's a huge aircraft and the gear is far below you, especially at high pitch angles. It's very easy either to land long, or to crash the gear into the wall in front of the runway. Don't ask me how I know... LOL
