If you're coming here after October, be sure to go to Boracay as it should be re-opened by then after a 6-month rehabilitation. Coron and El Nido are also a must as well as Siargao for surfing. Once you get here, it's easy enough to gather information on where to go next.

Is it possible for a cadet of PMMA to qualify in overseas or schooling to other countries specially for those who are in navy and coast guard cadets? Indeed, the academy is an academy of the navy. I never seen this in a “náutical and engineering school “ of merchant marine. Almost in Europe, luxuriousus uniforms and weapons like once theatre función.

It's not difficult to enter the academy if they actually remove the height limit. It's not like it's required for working in a ship.

What is their rank once the graduate? You've said that they are required to become officers in the reserves, does the US Navy ever try to recruit them or do any of them go on to serve with the US?

They graduate with the rank of Ensign (2nd Lt.). About 10% enter the Philippine Coast Guard yearly, a smaller number go to the Philippine Navy as Regulars. The rest are Reservists but there have been instances where after a few years in the merchant marine, they decide to serve in the Navy or Coast Guard instead. Now for the US Navy, I guess it depends if the individual migrates to the USA then it is an option. I have a classmate serving in the US Navy right now.

Chief MAKOi aww. Do you know what is the percentage of the entrance exam passers?

Usually around 30-40%. But the entrance exam is the easy part. The Neuro-Psychiatric exam and the Medical examinations are the ones to worry about. And then after that, the one-month orientation period. In a typical year there are around 6K+ examinees. After the neuro and medical exams only around 350-400 qualify to go for the one month orientation. And during the first day of orientation, around 80-100 will quit. So better prepare.
