Anyone else notice that the split coil "P bass" pickup on the Ibanez is backwards from every other bass on the wall? The D/G side is closer to the neck than the E/A side, whereas the E/A side is closer to the neck on every other bass on the wall. This will result in slightly less boomy lows, and a little less quacky mids and highs. This makes it very even voiced, which is a dream to mix with.

that's funny, I recently bought my first bass as a guitarist. As a guitar player looking for my first bass, THANK YOU for using so much pick. So many bass demos I've heard made me think a P-bass is not my thing. When finger picking, they all sound like a big sine wave with no character. This demo showed that you can get some nice attack out of P-bass pickup and also get the benefits of a bigger low end and humbucking.

I think the pbass really shines in rock with a pick and round wound strings. I personally play a lot of slap and with heavy finger attack, more of a John Entwhistle/geddy Lee feel, and I think single coils lend themselves to that sound a bit better. Although I love my Pbass, I like the way i sound on my Warwick a bit more. But I really want a PJ, like a spectre or something. I really dig that 90s sound from bands like Alice in chains and Pantera, and I like the idea of having the versatility.
@coltonmuri367210 ай бұрын
@@christiankoll1528 I went with the cheap Ibanez Gio GSR200 bass, which is a PJ configuration. It has an active EQ with a ton of bass boost. I'm really happy with it.
