I didn't hear it mentioned that the Piano 5 has twice the memory of the Piano 4 (2Gb up from 1Gb for the piano section, 1Gb up from 512Mb for the synth section). The advantage is you're able to store twice as many sounds on the Piano 5!

Very cool keyboard… My one big bummer about owning the Nord Grand is that you can’t layer pianos. I wish they’d given it dual outputs for the grand like they do here for the piano 5 and used less of a synth section. I still prefer the feel of the grand over the piano 5.

Yeah, but with Nord that would translate to a $15K instrument 😆 They make the best pianos, but I cannot justify the price when i could buy a cheap MIDI controller or used Yamaha p-200/250 (for speaker vibration), a laptop, used interface, with UVI's Key Suite for less money & not be stuck with a 1 trick pony.

I can see the appeal of a dedicated instrument but layering of two pianos is hardly new with most brands. Nord definitely overcharge for basic features that should have been there in the first place!

Notice when this interviewer asked the Nord-rep about which keybed is in the 5, the Nord-rep guy really sounds like a politician the way that he avoided answering. He just said, “no the TP-40 is in the Stage, not Piano 5”, but wouldn’t say which keybed is in the Piano 5. The number of words that it could have taken him to just say the name of Piano 5’s keybed, could have easily been less than the run of BS he tried to spin, to avoid the simple answer. I suspect that they might be using the Fatar TP-100, and he doesn’t want us to know that they downgraded it. Why would he put so much effort into avoiding the plain answer? My opinion of Nord has dropped too low just after seeing how they really go out of their way to not allow people who are paying generally around $3,000.** for the Piano 5 at least one decent Organ sound. They won’t even include the most basic usable preset of a decent blues/rock or jazz Organ sound, and Piano 5 owners aren’t allowed access to a library with any Organs other than ‘Cathedral’ or Church Organs. They could at least sell something like 3 or 4 Organ sounds for $85.**, but they must think that would mean Piano 5 owners would never have a reason to buy a Stage 4 model. Which is not the case. Musicians who really use Organ, are going to want rotary and drawbars. So we wouldn’t just be satisfied with a couple basic, non adjustable Organ sounds. It reeks of greed, and bad strategy. You can get a lot more Pianos, (and memory) with some decent ‘tone wheel’ Organs, and drawbars, for a couple hundred $ less than a P-5, in a Korg Nautilus, on sale for less than $2500.**, with probably a better keybed too!
