A stands for Activating Event or Adversity not Action. Irrational , absolutist beliefs are the source of disturbed negative emotions. Not all negative emotions are disturbed, many are normal. Irrational beliefs are illogical because they stem from our demands not preferences, unscientifically provable, cause emotional disturbance by defeat our normal health goals. Thanks for your video

Hi Brian...thank you! I was introduced to this book many, many years ago, the basic tenets of which I have never forgotten, even if I have oftentimes forgotten to apply them. Nonetheless, a recent exchange of Comments to one of my posts on my Facebook page caused me to seek links to a download of the PDF when I found this video. Outstanding. Sharing on my Facebook page both in those comments and in a separate post...

Thinking rationally is often different from “positive thinking,” in that it is a realistic assessment of the situation, with a view towards rectifying the problem if possible.” -Albert Ellis

Thanks you! I don't really speed read. Altho I read kinda quickly b/c I read so much, I actually love going slowly and imagining that I'm having a convo with a new friend who's sharing their best wisdom. I did a video on that here: youtube . com /watch?v=Z1rt1c4Zrwk
